Gametrailers.com shuts down after 13 years

This was posted today in their Facebook page
After 13 years, GameTrailers is closing down today.
When GameTrailers was founded in 2002, internet video was a revolutionary concept. YouTube wouldn’t be founded for another three years; consumer live streaming was nine years away. Back then, online game journalism was still dominated by text articles and static imagery. The most prestigious coverage still happened in print. If you wanted to watch a show about video games, you had to watch it on a special TV station that had 10 shows.
GameTrailers helped change all that. Today, game journalism is dominated by video: trailers, live gameplay, Let’s Plays, and news shows. Now there are millions of hours of content available at any time on your PC, your game console, your TV, and your phone.
We’re proud we helped bring this world into being. That is the legacy of GameTrailers. We're grateful to all of our fans who helped make us successful. Thank you for your continued support over the years. It has been an adventure.

They used to be my go to place for video game trailers before Youtube and Facebook. It seems that video game companies simply decided to forgo them and post the videos themselves.

I can't remember the last time I went to the site, but there were certainly a couple years where they were the go to. With YouTube and Facebook it's no surprise that there's less reason for them to exist.

Will they still keep their YouTube channel? I like some of their series (final boss man, Huber hype)

Yep, if I wanted to see a little bit about the game and hear some thoughts, I would go to Gatetrailers. Sad to see them go, but I can't remember the last time I was there.

Really a good place long ago and really hit it big when the Xbox and PS2 hit the scene. But no doubt YouTube pretty much help kill it. There are way to many fly-by-night want to be famous and the first to post out there. And sadly a majority are useless... a sad day it is....

Sad news that really came out of nowhere. I don't visit them as much as I used too, but their video reviews were the best of the big sites.

The only reason I really knew about them is because of their affiliation with Screw Attack and The Angry Video Game Nerd.

The GameTrailers guys have a new youtube channel:

Easy Allies

They even have the GT guys voice doing their reviews. Awesome:

And Kyle Bosman has his own channel now:
