Firewatch (PS4, PC - 2/9/2016)

This game seems to be quietly coming out on Tuesday for PS4 and PC only. The artwork was designed by Olly Moss for you Mondo Fans. It's download only, for now, at $19.99. It's already available to preorder on Steam for 10% off and supposedly it will be in the PSN store on Tuesday for 10% off that day only. Looks like a great game.

I didn't realize it was coming out this soon. I liked what I saw from the E3 trailer last year. As long as reviews are good, I'll pick it up at some point.

I will likely get this on release. Looks very interesting and is appropriately priced for what it is. I wish that I would have had the patience to wait for The Witness to be 20 bucks as that is about what it is worth regardless of how much time Blow blew on developing the game.

It's that price (for PS Plus members) for a full week.

Good game. Finished it up today. Art was great, had some good humor. Didn't care for the ending.

Wrapped it up. Pretentious garbage just like Gone Home IMHO. And probably the most anti-climactic ending I've seen in entertainment since The Matrix Revolutions.

Using the word pretentious to describe something you don't like is about the quickest way to get me to not value your opinion ever again.

If he doesn't like something that others like, then it's pretentious... got it.

Because I care if you value my opinion?

Not at all. And I don't know how you'd come to that conclusion. I just think some people see a lot more into these walking simulators than there really is. I'm not wrong or right in that. But I was bored during my whole playthrough and didn't think the story was anything unique at all. Just my opinion though.

Did anyone notice the bloodborne reference?

I just finished day 2 tonight and am really enjoying it so far. It's nice to take a break from the shooters for a bit and play a relaxing game.

Finished it today. Overall a good game with some interesting dialogue options along the way. I agree that the ending was a little lackluster,
Spoiler:
but I knew they would never meet.
I also kept forgetting that I had a camera to take pictures.

The game kinda reminded me of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Yeah that's a huge spoiler to just throw out there in a game where story is all there is.

Glad I played (and finished it) before reading through this thread.

Jeez.

Really, that's a spoiler

Even though I don't agree, I'll tag it as such. And the game has been out for about 8 months now...

Re: Firewatch (PS4, PC - 2/9/2016)

I just finished the game and knew some of what was coming because my kids had already played it, but I liked it. The story was interesting, and I liked the voice acting, considering they had to carry the whole thing by themselves, with no character facial expressions or anything. But I'm not sure my choices really had much effect (I started hitting on Delilah later in the game), and I agree the ending was anti-climactic.

I thought it was applicable... if anything, your reply was pretentious.

I was wondering that as well. I bet that it doesn't really have an effect other than some of the responses you get from her. It would be cool if they had implemented that a little better.

I named my fire the June Fire, and my kid said it was named differently in her game, so there's that, I guess.

Re: Firewatch (PS4, PC - 2/9/2016)

Yeah, that's not much though

I'm thinking something more in line with
Spoiler:
a decision or conversation choice you could make that would lead you two to actually meet at the end. THAT would actually be a cool and different branching path.

Just got an email today from Steam saying this game was on sale through Jan. 9 for $12. I think I might give it a try now.
