Han Solo requires 145 shards to unlock at 5*. His abilities and details are secret until someone unlocks him except for:
Shoots First (Unique): Han takes a bonus turn at the start of each encounter. During this turn, he can only use his Basic ability, but it will Stun the target for 1 turn. Bad ass! |

With regards to starting the raid, does it start at Tier 1 or can you automatically start one at Tier 6? Also, how much does it cost to start at the various tiers? |

It appears we can start wherever we want, besides T7, assuming we can afford it.
T1 = 30,000 T2 = 34,000 T3 = 38,000 T4 = 42,000 T5 = 46,000 T6 = 55,000 (big jump, but must be done to unlock T7) |
