Ultimately, based on who you have, I would make my arena team:

QGJ
Lumi
GS
Sid
Poe

At some point, I may consider subbing Yoda for Sid, but that's a ways off for you.

Arena is all about winning and the name of the game is speed and DPS right now. GW needs the healers for longevity, but Arena you can win with one man standing at 3% health and it has no effect on the next battle.

Now at 79/85 on Mace shards. 39 hours to go on Yoda. No more refreshes today. I am committed to refreshing up to 400 crystal level tomorrow to get the remaining 8 shards. This will go down to the wire but I really want 6* Yoda so I can leave Jedi alone for awhile.

So with no new character with squad credits I have 3 choices for credit use (8800 in the bank earn 700-800 daily) Savage Opress, Ventress, or Eeth.
Opress I like since they boosted him last month or so, his 25% or less death blow would seem useful, also need a DS character.
Ventress would be for DS and possibly anti Yoda, since he is starting to pop up in my squad battle matches.
Eeth would be strictly for another Jedi for the next Yoda event, whenever that is. I have Luminara, QGJ and JC at 5* or above, Ahsoka at three and would start using credits for her instead of maxing out QGJ (this would take about 2 weeks to 5*). That's it for Jedi.

Add Stormtrooper Han, he could be useful in GW.

I had Ventress to 4* until they announced the droid event and I started stockpiling arena credits to see if it would be worth it to upgrade 88 and 47. I continue to believe that Ventress is a great player for Arena with self dispel, self heal, and a massive offense up boost plus cooldowns. She is also not performing as intended, which means that she is due for a mace/ashoka type rework in the future. If you run Daka on your arena team with her, your stuns will go up immensely because she will get 2-3 more turns per round. And you are right, she is anti-Yoda which is a good thing.

You need to promote your two Luminaras (I assume you meant Lumi and jc :) ) to 7* and QGJ to at least 6*. If you then wanted to get Ashoka up to 5* with catina I could get behind that but then you need to return to QGJ to 7*.

The Yoda event will return in 30 days. That should be enough time for you to get at least 5 5* Jedi. I would still recommend Barriss long term over Koth though.

Woke up and got 1 Mace shard with my free bronze. Then 3 more were in the shipments. Then used overnight energy to finish him up. Yoda at 6* is now mine.

No more Jedi stuff for awhile except for getting QGJ up to 7* with catina credits. Burned out on it. Back to farming Dookus node up to 6* before unlocking in the hopes of a lucky bronze drop. I can finally work on some other characters I've been wanting to get up to 5* like Talia, Fives, and Luke (maybe even Chewie at some point too). They make for excellent GW B and C team members and with the level raise coming sooner rather than later, time to start focusing on that to be competitive at GW.

You're right, meant JC. Just boosted QGJ to 6* this morning so will take about 3 weeks to 7*. JC and Lumi are each about 1/2 way to 6*. Eeth would strictly be to get Yoda, I have no other Jedi on my roster than Ashoka and am using catina credits for QGJ. I may just skip another Yoda event and go for 7* QGJ and then start boosting Ashoka.
Still torn between Opress, Ventress and now STHan for squad credits.

STHan works well on paper but he's just too slow and his taunt lasts too long for his not so great health. Unless you are running Akbar lead, I wouldn't bother with him.

Opress is a good choice as I imagine there will be a Sith event for Palpatine soon.

Pinata once stated that you aren't really getting Koth, you are putting resources into Yoda instead. I wasn't with that at first but he's totally right in retrospect. He's an easy 7* so it's not a bad idea.

Yoda is worth it though.

So an arena team of:

6* QGJ (L)
7* Lumi
6* GS
6* Yoda
6* IG-86

Really tears shit up. I'm looking to get Daka up to 6* so I can put her in for the last battle for defensive purposes but with three assist callers, tenacity in round 1 preventing stuns and a three round heal from Lumi after first wave of attacks, it's not going well for AI opponents. Again, not the best defensive team and I plan to sub in Daka and Fives later as they star up to hold position. But it's hella fun to play with this team.

Got my 7* Yoda this morning. Took me 4 runs with Barriss as lead. Did it with Lumi and Anakin as the enemy adds.

I was 30 minutes away from getting my last five QGJ shards to pick up a 6* Yoda this morning before I had to go into work. But everything seems to be on track for being ready for the 7* battle the next time the event rolls around.

 Just pulled from a Bronzium a Barriss
Spoiler:
shard

Have 95/30 Dooku shards right now. Enough to take him from 3* to 5*, but I'm still holding out hope that there'll be another achievement with the next major update in a few weeks. Not like I'm going to use him until he's 6* or 7* anyway.

Daka is almost ready for 5* but, again, no rush to actually promote until I know for sure there won't be an additional reward.

I have the same problem in Arena as the rest of you. Have 10k saved up, but not spending it. Ventress makes the most sense, but so does unlocking bitches for achievements. But I'm not ready to do that because someone awesome may get added in the next update. Maybe I'll just start buying one pack per day because I'm earning two+ already.

I got full Barriss from a bronze when I had 145/80 shards for her. Another 5 shards put her over to 6, and then the Mace race was on. Very lucky. I've now pulled Daka and Barriss from bronze.

I've decided to go for Old Ben in the cantina, since I'm a F2P player I like to use resources on useful items/characters only. Since Eeth is only useful for getting Yoda essentially I feel the arena credits are best used for Opress, who will be eventually be useful. It will just take some time.

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

I'm glad i waited to see what the droid event was before leveling up 88 and 47 (who I hate, btw). Basically the rewards are a joke, at best you get a handful of shards for the droids and a few mats.

mod note: spoilered for size

And by spending a ton of resources to level them up between credits and shards, you get maybe a few more per droid. Including that for 100 who I never intend to use.

You guys didn't miss much with this, believe me. The event itself is a boring short little fight too.

It's not just the event. The free Spring packs are Android only. The achievement for collecting those packs (pays out a bunch of credits) is also Android only.

6* Yoda was a bitch. Every time I got him to a sliver of health he would go nuts and get infinite attacks against my team until everybody was dead. Finally got a round where that didn't happen for some reason and was able to take him out.

*That* I didn't know. In that case, yes, those could be very valuable if you pull a free character. Still just shards otherwise.

Yup. And for months Poe was the absolute meta of this game. He's still super valuable now. Phasma is great...when she is on AI in GW and procs her assist 50% of the time. The only reason I'm continuing to use GW tokens on her is because she's 95% done as it is and I may as well max her in case FO ever becomes relevant again. But Poe is clearly superior to Phasma. So IOS won on that.

Don't blame EA/CG because Apple did not want to do a promotion for its customers. They could have. But they are apple and don't give shit about that sort of thing.

When you're facing Yoda, don't try to inflict negative status effects. He and his team will invariably avoid them and gain turn meter from doing so.

Yeah, the common advice on the forums is to just use standard attacks against him.

It's actually a good place to do since you can now max out your team in preparation for the next level cap adjustment.

bippitty 03-18-16 07:28 PM

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Community update on the official forum says that the level cap is going up in a few weeks. They will also be making some other changes.

2. Game-wide tuning changes

a. Related to the level 80 cap increase, we are making some significant changes to the combat tuning.

The goal is to mitigate (but not entirely eliminate) situations where characters can be killed before they’ve had any chance to act.

b. Defense will now be more significant in the battle

c. Speed will now be important in calibration of a character’s damage output. Generally speaking, faster acting characters will see a damage reduction and slower characters will see an increase.

d. The “Advantage” ability is changing. It will now be a guaranteed critical hit for a single action.

e. All characters will now gain a new mechanic (working name: “Fortitude”), which will be activated at a certain point in characters’ progression. This will act as another layer of health which needs to be exhausted by opponents before the character starts losing their health. Current healers will not replenish Fortitude. We may add characters and abilities in the future which will act on, around, with, etc. Fortitude.

I'm for anything that will increase team diversity. Speaking of which, I'm halfway to unlocking Chief Chirpa and I think I want to see what an Ewok team can do.

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Too many changes. I'm still in the middle of trying to ramp up for Yoda. Still trying to build up some secondary characters for Galactic War. The level cap is going up. On top of that, I may need to replace my arena squad.

Depending on how fortitude works, Galactic War may ramp up in difficulty. Currently, I can make it through with my main squad while burning off a few secondaries for the stronger enemies. If fortitude doesn't replenish, that main squad may not be able to make it halfway any more.
