Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Slow going lately. Got a Nute shard from GW today so that's completely useless.

Yoda update:
Lumi 7*, L70, G8, 7/7/7/6
JC 7*, L70, G8, 7/7/7
Mace 7*, L53, G7, 3/3/3/3
QGJ 36/100, L70, G8, 7/7/7/6
Eeth 61/100, L11, G2, 1/1/0/1

Eeth will be 7* on Saturday and I estimate QGJ will be just after the event begins. I'm really hoping to not have to upgrade Mace and Eeth much to beat Tier 7, but I suppose there are worse things with more droids coming. I do love Yoda who is currently 5*, L70, G8, 7/7/7/6/4

I am farming GS in Cantina with eyes on Kylo and Dooku next. I will be purchasing Daka shards to get her to 6* or 7* as no one else is really exciting. Maybe Ahsoka if Mace/Eeth just fail me for Yoda for next time. FO Officer is on the short list because I still love the idea of a full FO team with Phasma leading.

Still not sure who will be getting the Arena purchases after Eeth. I like ST Han and 88 and HK. Even Ventress, Ackbar, and Savage might be fun. I might just cycle them to work on character & promotion achievements to keep on Vader without directly invoking the Shard Shop by purchasing shards for already-maxed characters.

GW I took Poggle to 6* and have been doing the same for 86 (41/85). I will probably do the same for RP and then cycle the others without any other immediate needs or wants. GW is so lucrative for me since I can complete it every day. Any word on a new character coming to it that I might want to start saving for?

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Sid and Lumi are 7*!

Who to get now in Arena? I have Savage unlocked already at 3*. Him, Han, Asajj?

GW has been horrendous for me lately. I have not finished one in 2 weeks. I'm lucky if I can earn 400 shards a day. My plan is to focus on Phasma to 7. Will take me weeks.

I'm doing Mace nodes in Cantina and spending shards on getting QGJ to 5*. Then I'll work on finally unlocking Daka. That sound good?

You are the man P. I will say with Yoda starting in seven days unless you are refreshing Cantina at 400 tokens you may only hit 7* at the end. I may do a 400 2x just to be sure. Although from the forums, many say that Yoda really isn't worth it. Oddly though, people now LOVE Koth for his stun ability, lol. So maybe you were onto something there.

I am only 6 shards away from a 5* Barriss and that will definitely happen by tomorrow, so I hope to have a 5* Yoda by the end of next week.

I can tell you that I really regret working the droid team to 5*. They just don't do that much at 5*/60/purple. We are talking PTL, HK47, 86, 88 and GS (sometimes using Poe but PTL passive on GS is awesome). Too squishy. I love Han's turn meter manipulation but his taunt lasts so long he's dead after a few hits.

I love the idea of Akbar especially if you are going for a Rebel team. That requires a bunch of chromium players so probably not likely. I do like his dispel but he has terrible HP so really, all you do is re-level the field.

I am fascinated by Ventress. She is bugged, but she hits like a mule and can self-heal. I am very much considering going for her once I get Han to 5* (may even alternate) just to she if she ever gets fixed. Besides, I have pretty much a full NS team as it is anyway (Daka, Talia, Initiate, IS) so it may be fun to see that team synergized.

The rumor on the forums is that the March update will add a new character to both GW and Arena, likely a chrome only. The best bets are Maul, Cad Bane, and Leia. I hear that Ben will stay chrome only for awhile.

We need more ways to get Vader shards. The devs have promised them. I only hope it works backwards because I don't want to have to fight my way through everything again.

If there is a legitimate chance that Arena will see a new character, I have no problem stockpiling tokens after Eeth is done. I only get two purchases a day as is, so I could double-down on the newbie, if it's worth it.

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

So I'm sure some of you will say this is confirmation bias or RNG but I have some data to suggest otherwise. To the extent it helps any of you though, I wanted to share it.

I've been farming those Mk2 Zaltan gels pretty much nonstop because it's a dual boost to both SPD and dmg. Problem is I have needed about 100 of those fuckers. I had been going in through the character gear screen. The drop rate was abysmal. About 1/6. Based on a forum suggestion, I started going directly to the mission and farming. Rate improved dramatically to about 1/3.

There is some in-game proof there may be a variance in drop rates depending on the system used. For example, when you go in through the gear page, and you get the drop, the item will say xx/20. However, if you don't, and just go in through the mission screen directly, the gear has no indication of how many you have and you have to click on it to see. In other words, the game has no idea what you are farming.

Based on my track rates for about a week, the direct mission route has a much higher yield. If anyone is game to do their own track, I would appreciate if you get the same results. If it works, you can thank me :)

Arena has not seen another character since game launch but both Catina and GW have (QGJ/Lando and Phasma). So the changes of the next update will have a new character there is good.

May be Magmatrooper for I know though....although his specials look awesome.

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Nice. I had a hunch there was something going on there, but my limited testing didn't provide much difference.

It seems like confirmation bias, though. I mean, what incentive does CG have to reduce rates if you're using shortcuts to get to what you want? You're still burning the energy. You're still stuck with the 3/day/node. It seems extremely overkill to put a parameter on the RNG to willingly halve the results. But, then again, this is a freemium game...

I'll go back to trying that myself because I'm also hunting those fuckin' Mk2 gels currently.

Did any of your confirmation bias tell you that Hard nodes definitely do drop more than Regular ones?

pinata242 03-02-16 01:53 PM

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Agreed, I am intrigued by Magma just based on what I can see from the base screen. Good starting power and seemingly awesome abilities and passive.

I did not test the normal vs. hard that much but I generally sense that I get more purple ability mats from higher cantina nodes than lower ones. Problem with testing is that you facing 16 and 20 energy to test, so you really hurt yourself.

I'm curious if you see the same result on the different farming method. My raw data suggests that its not just confirmation bias (but certainly could be favorable RNG).

I'd take a 33% drop rate on any purple gear. Stated ratio is about 1:5.

Well one of those was for a shard. So I guess I have a 50% purple drop rate!

MASSIVE NEWS TODAY!!:

Greetings, Small update today, notes below. Adjustments have been made to Galactic War matchmaking. These adjustments will not be done until you have restarted your Galactic War for the day. Credits will be sent to the inbox of players who logged in every day in February but did not receive the reward or credit for completing the achievement.

- So GW apparently fixed
- $350k credits incoming. None too soon with me about to unlock 5* Barriss for Yoda.

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Massive seems subjective. I guess I should expect GW to get harder.

Oh, and I haven't really tracked drop rates, but I have been trying to not use the "Find" feature since you brought it up yesterday. Doesn't seem noticeably different to me. I'm going to go back to assuming the RNG is as R as a seeded-NG can be.

Well, GW should scale. You shouldn't be facing five 7* full gear teams in a row starting at node 3, even if you are the same.

Yeah, I'm fine with tough teams in GW but it should be at the end not at the beginning and middle.

It seems to be scaling a little better for me.

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

GW for me today...

3rd node. 5 Lvl 69 characters. Lumi. JC. Sid. Bariss. Ventress. All 7 stars.

I have 2 66's, the rest 64. All 4-6 stars. No chance in hell in getting past that crew even if I used my entire line-up. This game hates me.

EDIT: As expected, I used all 23 of my characters and barely put a dent in that squad. I was only able to kill off Bariss. That was a ridiculous opponent for the 3rd node (and the 'beginner' section of GW). I scored a whopping 100 crystals for the day. Yay.

I'm not good at this game... but I'm addicted. That said, I'm finding that almost every matchup in the Squad Arena is totally lopsided. I can't refresh to a single opponent I can beat. I'm level 43 and routinely get level 47-50... never equal to or below. What gives?

pinata242 03-04-16 10:14 AM

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

Probably they are seeing level 55-60 opponents and can't progress either. Sounds like you're doing about as well as you can expect in your position.

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

GW didn't seem any easier or more difficult today. I did notice a bunch of new team configurations, so that was nice.

flashburn 03-04-16 11:31 AM

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

It was more difficult for me. I actually had to back out and retry and use an alternate squad member, instead of just auto'ing every node like usual. It was the second to last one that was difficult level 65-ish guys, and the final node was level 50-ish guys.

Squad is now impossible for me to get ranked below 200-ish instead of 100-ish. I also get pushed to above 300 very easily. I'm not sure why it's getting so much more difficult, but it is. I don't really care enough about the rewards to care if I get ranked lower though.

There are ton of complaints on the forums that GW has been made harder for them. So you aren't alone. But remember you aren't supposed to win every day.

Mine was the opposite. I won GW for the first time in weeks. Cruised through till the third to last node where from there I hit stronger teams but was able to beat them (losing heroes along the way, had to resort to some B and C teasers). We'll see how I fare tomorrow.

There is no system for matching you to equal teams. You are on a specific leaderboard. Refresh doesn't move you into a new pool. Instead of seeing 550, 513 and 495 you may see 549, 510 and 496. But until he rises or drops, the guy at 550 is going to be the same guy no matter how often you refresh.

Fucking hell this game has become impossible for me now. Couldn't get past the 6th node in GW, and I'm having issues even breaking into the top 300 of Squad now. This game has become a chore.

And GW now just became impossible. Obviously they haven't fixed it. The devs have no idea what "scaling" means. At all.

pinata242 03-05-16 11:13 AM

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

I bet they do it based on "power". If someone did the math, I bet the power would scale up as you progress. Problem is, "power" is not a measure of relative team strength/synergy/speed.

One of the chests could be a "team refresh" or a "heal bonus" or a "cooldown refresh". Something to keep people going.

That said, this just happened!

So based on the enthusiasm in this thread I downloaded this game 2 days ago. And I'm totally addicted.

Here's my Ally Code if anyone wants to link up with me:
JuryDuty/JuryDuty/718-137-768

I don't look like much now, but I'm very committed with games like this. I'll be leveling up asap. :D

So as a beginner (level 19 right now) any recommendations for the card I pick in my Squad Arena win?

19K 03-05-16 02:24 PM

Re: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (iOS & Android)

So this has been bothering the crap out of me the last few days... If Phasma is the 'leader' of the squad and you kill him before the end of the fight, the remaining enemy characters still get his random ally bonus attack perk for the remainder of the battle.

I just did a GW where I killed him first. The remaining enemies were Dooku, Sid, JC and Lumi. None of which have that perk, yet they all continued to bonus attack the crap out of me well after Phasma was dead (18% chance my ass, btw).

Is this a known bug, or working as intended? I'm sorry if it's already been discussed. If the leader is Lumi or Bariss, my characters aren't getting the heal bonus at the start of their turns after one of them dies. It doesn't seem fair if the leader perk remains in effect for some characters and not others. Has to be a bug.

You can't go wrong with Darth Sidious...he has a brutal basic attack, plus an AOE special and decent leader skill that applies to all heroes.

This is working as intended. The leader bonus applies even if the leader is killed. Not sure why it goes away for other heroes though...

Working as intended, but only for certain heroes? That sounds broken to me. I wish it was more obvious which ones worked and which ones didn't (for instance, ones that have crit bonuses you would never know for sure if you were still getting it after death. The healer leader perks you most definitely lose.)
