PS3 RPG recommendations?

I'm looking for a new rpg to play on my ps3 cause I got a gift card for the psstore but their search function is awful. These are the titles I own that are comparable to what I'm looking for:

The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy
Diablo III
Dragons Dogma

I know it's not much to go on but hopefully someone can help.

re: PS3 RPG recommendations?

Well, those are 3 different types of RPGs (JRPG, dungeon crawler, action RPG) so it's hard to make a single suggestion based on that list.

If you want more of an action RPG like Dragon's Dogma, try Witcher 2 (and then Witcher 3 if you like that one).

If you're into Ghibli animation and want the JRPG combat system, give Ni No Kuni a shot.

If you want a challenge, go with Demon's Souls or Dark Souls.

Nier is also an excellent ARPG with a Japanese feel, and is one of the most overlooked RPG gems of last-gen.

I'm pretty sure Witcher 2 and 3 are not on the PS3

Kingdoms of Amalur covers the same ground as Dragon's Dogma in a brighter fantasy environment, and Dungeon Siege III will hit similar sweet spots as Diablo III. If you're alright with tactical/non-twitch gameplay, check out the ultimate edition of Dragon Age: Origins for a truckload of content.

3D Dot Game Heroes

Nothing like what you already have, which is why I recommend it!

My 4 favorites in this order

Elder Scrolls Skyrim - not as buggy on PS3 as people believe and I put 400+ hours into this and had only 1 backward flying dragon.

I can only comment on one...Diablo III...since I'm playing this on the PS4 and have since the days of the 360. It's fun and deep with six characters now but the game really shines with 2 or more. I'd suggest to hit the official Diablo site, sign up and get in the 'Console Forum'. I see some there from all four consoles but cannot say about the PS3 crowd

FWI...there is rumored to be a big update coming and expanding on Diablo III later this year

That is a good goddamn call.

I never finished that game tho. Wasn't my fault. Had to travel unexpectedly out of country for a bit after I got it.

I would further elaborate and say that if you are playing Diablo 3 on PS3, it would be like I am experiencing Diablo 3 on 360, great in single player and mostly dead in multiplayer. I played with a few people on the 360 when it first came out (and before the ROS/XB1 version came out), but the only person lately I can play with is my 8 year old nephew who arguably shouldn't be playing it anyhow. But his daddy lets him, so I'm just trying to be nice and be there to guide him. Anyway, point is if you only want to do the single player thing, its fine. Just don't expect any multiplayer.

Ni No Kuni it is. The price is appealing and trailer looked like something I'd dig. Thanks!

Re: PS3 RPG recommendations?

Kingdoms of Amalur
Dragon Age

Both would probably fit into the Dragon's Dogma category.

Good call. It's like playing a Miyazaki anime (not surprisingly, given Studio Ghiblis involvement)

Re: PS3 RPG recommendations?

My Favorite is Dragon Age: Origins I have played three or four times, Diablo was also fun as was 3D Dot Game Heroes and Kingdoms of Amalur, I love a good RPG I have been playing the Final Fantasys on my Vita.

Re: PS3 RPG recommendations?

I've been enjoying Dragon's Crown, which is kind of similar to Diablo 3, in that it's a multi-player action rpg driven by loot. It feels like a classic arcade game, which is pretty cool.
