I understand the argument that "few gamers use BC" but this is the first time that digital titles are crossing console generations. The fact that I'll instantly be able to install and play Hexic and Geometry Wars 2 as seamlessly as possible makes it very appealing.
This isn't walking over to play Prince of Persia via a disc swap, this is loading up 'Splosion Man any time I want!
Speaking of which, I hope they enable Pinball FX2 support because there are some tables that didn't make the jump to XO.

Yep, previous generations back compat seemed relevant for 18-24 months, but with digital titles it's a whole other ballgame. I'd love to have my digital titles carry forward.

If this proves to be popular, I wonder if they'd tackle original Xbox games. They'd probably have to bring the servers back up, which is highly unlikely... But it would be pretty cool if they did it anyway...

I doubt it, Xbox 360 is still relevent with titles like AC Rogue and is still fairly current, the first Xbox? Not so much.

The original Xbox was also standard definition and 4:3 aspect ratio. So I don't think those games would look too good today on modern HDTVs. I think a few games may have been widescreen, but I don't think they were HD.

Sometimes there were compromises. Soul Calibur II was widescreen in 480p, but it was 4x3 in 720p. (I still thought it was mindblowing to play a video game in high definition that generation, though!)

Yeah, who knew 15 years later we'd still be around that.
The Xbox supported up through 1080i (Atari Anthology, Dragon's Lair 3D, Enter the Matrix, MX Unleaded, MX vs ATV Unleaded) There were roughly 50 titles that supported 720p

I've touted the digital title thing a few times now, glad others are chiming in with agreement.
I was at E3 for a few hours today, mostly just wandered around checking out the different booths. Got to sit on a Star Wars speeder thing they had on display, and Capcom's booth had a silly motion camera booth with actors playing various characters, so I got to pretend like I was fighting Bison and Cammy. I also tried the Oculus Rift for the first time. Like usual though, everything new and interesting are basically a couple hour long waits which I never bother. A few hours to wait for a Destiny expansion demo or Black Ops III for instance, which I actually did two years ago, wasn't worth it this time around.
Randomly... I did see NBA player JaVale McGee at the Capcom booth, and also got a picture with actor Neal McDonough

Oh! I know someone posted before photos of Microsoft and Sony's booths right next to each other before, but it's totally the same this year. I took a similar photo of Green and Blue right next to each other. Nintendo is actually there in the same hall too.

You know what, even though I'm more than halfway through it, I'm way more excited about playing more Witcher 3 later today than I am about pretty much any game announced at E3.

So I got to play the MP for SW Battlefront.. I got chills.
It was a thing of beauty. Like Battlefield but with Imperial and Rebels in a Star Wars based environment. Glad it has single and co-op campaign.

I don't have either an Xbone or PS4 yet. I was strongly favoring the PS4, but now after the BC announcement I think I may be favoring the Xbone.
I will miss Uncharted 4 though. I'm too poor to own both consoles.

So for instance after installing the current Preview update that has backwards compatibility support, when I go to my Games section and look all the way to the right where it lists titles you own but aren't installed, a bunch of digital 360 games I already own automatically showed up like Battleblock Theater and Geometry Wars.
The digital titles that you own and are part of the Back Compat game catalog will automatically show up in the “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One. For disc-based games that are a part of the Back Compat game catalog, simply insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive. After the game has finished downloading, you will still need to keep the game disc in the drive to play.

It will not have a single player campaign. Rather, EA says that there are a series of short mission that can be complete solo, co-op, or online, rather than a scripted multi-hour campaign.
