As far as the title of the thread being true - Really?
Funny that the "console warriors" have been warned, but the title of this thread has remained unchanged since day one since it is "all in good fun" |

I played sports - 1st place trophies were always bigger. MVP trophy and Most improved player were also large. All the other trophies were smaller the worse your team was. |

The reaction is genuine and sooooo much better than the cynicism that seems to invade so many gaming shows/websites.

Better play that other 'Metroid' game announced

"reaction" and "response" videos are probably the worst thing on YouTube.

edit: let me be clear. I'm genuinely happy for people who get that excited. I just find it strange to record yourself in those situations and uploading said videos to YouTube, but I'm old. Get off my lawn. |

Is there a complete list of 100 360 games that will be available? I really hope SSX makes it.

I have enough ribbons, thank you very much.
Anyway, I'm disappointed that no one has attempted to offer an alternative thread title to Chuck's propaganda. Lazy <s>devs</s> posters. |

I hope Sony follows suit and offers BC. There are so many unplayed PS3 games I own because I can't go back to that controller now.

No, the excitement over Shenmue and FF7 redux is authentic from a lot of people, I could look on Facebook and see the nerdgasm occurring.
But who cares, let the few excited people be excited, even if it comes off as cheesing for the camera. At least it wasn't them acting that way over a new God of War or Halo. |

It's not as simple as saying "well the 360 and PS3 are about the same power wise, as are the PS4 and XBONE, so it should be possible if XBOX can do it." What I could see them do is to start offering you games on PS NOW if you already own them. |

Re: The Official E3 Thread of Xbox One Superiority - June 16-18, 2015
You CAN use your 360 discs on your X1. The disc is just used to verify ownership of the title, but it looks like you are prompted to download the X1-emulated version from XBL. Once the game is installed, you play it as you would any other game. If you own the disc, you need the disc to play it every time (obviously, or else folks would abuse the shit out of this system). If you own it digitally, you don't need a disc at all.

Isn't that basically what Microsoft is doing? Obviously not on PS Now, but it seems like they're just letting you download X1 versions of stuff you already own. You won't be able to pop a 360 disc into your X1 and play the game, it will just download a new digital version to your system, right?
My point was that Sony likely won't offer Backward Compatibility, but to compete with MS, they could offer free games on Now. |

Re: Playstation BC
PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan says the backwards compatibility of Xbox One is a legitimate strategy in trying to upgrade 360 players. But he says that Sony will not be following the same tactic, as the firm is investing in other software updates to PS4. He also adds that - based on their experience - few gamers actually make use of such functionality. “It was quite a complicated announcement and I’m not sure I fully understand it yet. And I suspect there might be a few twists in that particular tale. But we will see,” he told MCV when discussing the Xbox One announcement. “It is an entirely legitimate approach, and if you are seeking to upgrade 360 owners to Xbox One, it is a very logical approach to take. “We are just taking a different path. To the extent that you are investing in software technology - which is what this is, it’s delivered through software not through hardware - we are trying to commit our resources and put our emphasis on delivering on the promises we made right at the start of this whole PS4 thing, to be the forward-looking, socially-connected console. We are placing our bets on things like SharePlay, on things like Play as you Download, and things like Suspend/Resume. “We are just taking two different approaches. Unfortunately there are just not sufficent enough software engineers in the world for everyone to do everything. Each platform holder has to make their choices, we made one and they made another. Their choice is entirely legitimate, and I think our choice is legitimate, too. In some ways it is quite nice to have points of difference between the two platforms, and people will decide which approach suits them best. “We have experience of backwards compatibility. The earliest PS3 model was backwards compatible with PS2, and it is a much requested feature… but actually it’s not so greatly used. “On balance, we are happy with our approach and we don’t wish to be defensive about it at all. But as I say, both approaches are legitimate.” |
