Nintendo partners with Universal Studios to open theme park
On mobile so can't provide a link at this time.
Ever since the Bowser roller coaster level in Sunshine I've dreamed of a Nintendo theme park
.
So with planning , construction time we're looking at a three year wait?

Title is a little bit misleading, it's new theme park attractions rather then a new theme park itself. Not much detail other then that though.

And yeah, if there's no Mario Kart ride i'll be disappointed. It would be neat if Universal can use all their simulated ride technology to let you race others and throw virtual shells and things.

I’m thrilled to share that Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts today announced plans to bring the world of Nintendo to life at Universal theme parks.
Together, these two storytelling giants will create spectacular, dedicated experiences based on Nintendo’s wildly popular games, characters and worlds.
The agreement brings two icons of entertainment together and represents a significant partnership for Nintendo as it expands the reach and popularity of its characters and intellectual property.
Universal theme parks offer incredibly popular, innovative themed family entertainment experiences based on compelling stories and characters – using powerful storytelling and innovative technology. Nintendo has created remarkable and imaginative worlds filled with captivating stories and beloved characters.
Now, for the first time, those stories and characters will be brought to life in entirely new ways—only at Universal theme parks.
The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal’s theme parks and will feature Nintendo’s most famous characters and games.
More details will be announced in the future, as the Nintendo and Universal creative teams work to create specific concepts.

Spinning off this news, how about a Nintendo themed, theme park sim? That could be pretty awesome.

Smart move. I'll go to it if they put it in L.A.

For years I've thought a Nintendo Land would be perfect for Islands of Adventure in Orlando, so this is great news. If so, I imagine it'll go where Toon Lagoon is now
A Mario Kart ride is a given. I imagine Zelda could be done in a storytelling-type ride like they've done with Harry Potter. I could see Metroid being one of those ride-and-shoot attractions like Men in Black. A Starfox flying ride also makes sense.

I'm not a Nintendo fan, but good GOD, put it in Islands of Adventure and get rid of that fuckin' Beetle Bailey/Hagar the Horrible area that people just blow through to get to Jurassic Park land from Marvel Island.

The "Toon Lagoon" area in IOA is perfect for this. Two great water rides that could be re-themed and plenty of room for other Nintendo attractions and/or restraurants.
Another radical possibility is that Nintendo could be a replacement for the Marvel presence in the park. Could expand the current Marvel area to use both Marvel and Toon Lagoon.
Either way it wouldn't be a surprise that they are looking add even more new stuff to IOA since Potter is done. The Kong ride was finally officially announced this past week for next Summer. They are going to need something new for 2017 and beyond.

IOA is extremely long in the tooth. The Potter area, while great fun and well done, is one fantastic new ride and two repurposed old rides with some cool themed areas and little more. Marvel Island hasn't seen ANYTHING new in 15 years (save for a touch-up on Spider-Man) and seems perpetually stuck in the Marvel of 1997. The Dr. Seuss areas is wonderful but hasn't had anything new in a long while. Same for Jurassic Park. The rest of IOA... sucks. Universal Studios is a lot more fun, IMO.

The Popeye raft ride is one of the best of it's kind out there. But the Popeye theme is a waste given how many kids and young adults don't know squat about Popeye. The whole land suffers from that issue. That's why it and the Marvel area a good fits for the Nintendo overlay.
