Mad Max

I apologize if there is already a thread for this but the name Mad Max is too short for the forum search engine. Anyhoo, the gameplay looks like lots of fun.

Re: Mad Max

Had no clue it was the same studio. All I can say is that it looks awesome. I just hope it's not a PS4 exclusive and that it's also coming to PC.

Re: Mad Max

They have been pretty silent about this one until recently. I'm surprised they didn't try to get it out before the new movie hits. Is JC3 coming out this year as well?

They were going to try but it got delayed I'm pretty sure. Game looks great though and should be a day one purchase for me.

It's coming to PC, PS4, and XB1.

Re: Mad Max

I just noticed this was $52.99 pre-order for Prime members. I'm really curious to see how this game turns out.

It releases the same day as the DVD/ BD (September 1).

Re: Mad Max

Weird how they're using a world template by Fury Road. Warboys, the baddie is a son of Joe, etc and this Max isn't Hardy. Just odd to me.

1: likeness rights cost money. Using a generic face doesn't.

2: you see the back of the character's head for most of the game.

3: The character already transitioned between the likenesses of Gibson and Hardy so there isn't truly one definitive face anyway.

Re: Mad Max

IGN is supposed to post their review at 4pm Pacific on Monday, so that must be when the review embargo ends. I decided not to preorder after watching some preview gameplay footage. It just seems like it could get really repetitive really fast. Still curious, though.

Re: Mad Max

Makes sense. I'm expecting a copy from Gamefly to come in the next week. Didn't want to risk it either. Looks cool enough, but could definitely be a disappointment as well. if I like the rental and it drops cheap for BF, maybe I'll pick it up then.

Re: Mad Max

I was hyped on this, too, but with MGS V I won't have time. I might grab it when it's $30 or under.

Anyway, I'm guessing a 7.4-7.8 ish review score.

Is the audio on that video low or is it just me?

Re: Mad Max

Oh man, this game looks like it could have potential, but the reports of it's "troubled" development and lack of early reviews are troubling.

Re: Mad Max

Looks like fun to me. I'm picking this and Mad Max up tomorrow. Plus, this comes with a 10 dollar reward certificate for pre-ordering it from Best Buy. Unless the game is downright broken, then this should be fun to play and the map looks pretty damn cool.

Well the map apparently goes on forever, so good luck exploring that.

My copy shipped today from Gamefly, so I'll be checking it out for sure later this week.

Yeah, they didn't want to make artificial boundaries. They instead chose to create dust filled wastelands beyond the game play area, which looks to be large and very detailed.

Re: Mad Max

They've had crazy good deals on the PC version of this the last couple weeks. Like 50% off. Even still, I can't pull the trigger. Word of mouth coming from people who have had extended hands on sessions seems to be a collective "meh," so I think I'll pass for now.

Re: Mad Max

Best case scenario : This game is actually great, defies all expectations for a new IP based on a movie franchise and gets super reviews. That's exactly what happened with another WB Interactive game : Shadow of Mordor last year. Even in that case, the game was $25 on Black Friday some 2-3 months later and everyone who purchased it at launch regretted it. And there's distinct chance that this game isn't as good as Mordor was.

8.4 from IGN. I was pretty close.

It sounds like a lot of fun but I'm definitely waiting.

Not only that but didn't the GOTY version hit stores in less than a year?

That's a pretty damn good score, in my opinion.
