Either way, I know you are a shotgun CoD guy, just like myself, so I get it. It takes me a round or two to adjust when I jump between CoD and Battlefield. Overall, I would have jumped on this game immediately had it hit in the summer or in January after a lull. But being between Halo 5 and the new CoD (especially while I still have Battlefield 4 and just got Hardline for free via the EA Access vault) just makes it much less interesting. And yeah, I was totally a shotgun guy. In the last CoD game I transitioned to some sniper stuff simply because after I diamonded the shotguns I wanted something else on which to work. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
Yeah, the Walker Assault was the long range map and the pod one was the close quarters.
I'm still in at release mainly because it's Star Wars but I do hope they fix the spawn points. I also hope the new game modes and maps add some more variety to it as well. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I have read (but not confirmed, personally) that those with EA Access can begin to use their 10 hour "early" benefits now. I was hoping to try tonight.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
^Yes, that is true.
I'm getting excited for it next week. I'll be away on a business trip and won't be able to play it until Friday though. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
Well...this is not a good sign or at least tarnishes the release.....
EA Rep Reportedly Bribed Reddit Mods to Remove Negative Star Wars Battlefront Posts http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/...ibed/#/slide/1 A pretty damning allegation has been made against an EA representative and some Reddit mods ahead of the highly-anticipated launch of Star Wars Battlefront on November 17. Apparently, moderators of the game’s subreddit were asked by the rep to remove any negative Battlefront posts in exchange for early access to the closed alpha, tickets to the Star Wars festival, and more. The allegation surfaced when Reddit admin, Sporkicide, posted a note looking for new mods as those working previously were found to have violated the site’s user agreement. When asked for details, Sporkicide said: There was a representative from EA directing moderators to remove posts and prevent certain links from being posted. In exchange, moderators were given perks including alpha access. This had been going on for a while and is completely unacceptable, whether you were personally the moderator to yank the post or not. It appears to have been clear to all moderators what was being asked and what was being provided in return |

Never trust a person named "Sporkicide".
Is any game mode similar to domination? |

It appears to have been clear to all moderators what was being asked and what was being provided in return As for the quality of the game, early access reviews have been overwhelmingly positive and gameplay, so far, has been glitch free which, given DICE's last two AAA releases (BF3 and BF4), is a bit of a miracle. |

Reddit drama. Not even legit drama at that.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
So any thoughts post-beta? I've played very briefly --- Heroes vs Villains mode. I liked it but will probably stick with the classic type games overall.
|
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
Playing the Early Access trial and honestly, I think after the ten hours up, I'll be good until this hits the $30 mark. It's good, but I can't believe that most of the $50 season pass content was probably originally in the game until EA pulled their usual schemes.
|
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
Also canceled my preorder. While this looks nice, I have a feeling I will get bored with it quickly.
|
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
What were they thinking stripping away so much content? For example the new CoD has more content in one of it's 3 modes than this does in its entire ($60 base) package. Sure, it's Star Wars, but that doesn't make up for missing content.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I played with some friends last night (Decker and his buddy) on COD and this came up if I was getting it. I played the beta, like the look, feel, sound, maps, the co-op and MP....but left having doubt over the longevity of the game being solely MP. At least with COD and even Destiny you have SP, co-op, various mission types and MP. In the back of my mind as good as it looks & feels plus being the best looking SW game on current gen.....I can also see "Boredom" probably setting in.....I thought about getting it again for about 2-3 minutes and it's still no.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
A review...
Videogamer.com 7/10 I keep going back and forth on whether I'll get it or not. Maybe I'll wait for the inevitable GotY edition with the DLC. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I'll get it but not right now. Why bother when there is Fallout 4 now and Just Cause 3 in a couple of weeks. I'll get it when the price accurately reflects the amount of content: 20-30 bucks.
|
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
$30 is a good price point, or pay $50 for the GOTY and get everything the initial release should have come with.
|
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
So I've been playing through EA early access and was super excited for this game but after a few hours I've came away disapointed, besides the graphics which are amazing and the excellent sound the game play feels hollow.
The weapons feel like there's no punch. You have to stand there and just keep shooting a person twenty times until the life bar emptys. And that's if you can live once you start firing since once you start shooting everyone can see where you are which is one of the problems I have with the game. It's just follow the lasers and just hold the right trigger and fire. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I played a couple of hours yesterday, through EA Access, and yeah, this game is not for hardcore gamers. COD people will hate this game.
I think it's a lot of fun, good to play in bursts, when you get tired of your other games. $30 seems like a good price. This is from someone who has played COD as his main MP game the last 3-4 years. If I was a big Star Wars fans I would probably get the game earlier. Right now, I will probably wait until is "free" through EA Access. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I get all the complaints, I really do. But for me and my friend (neither of us any good at competitive multiplayer games, especially hard core ones like CoD), this will be fun to mess around with. Its Mission Modes are pretty fun little co-op challenges. Nothing too special, but pretty cool mindless fun and replayable. For $38 with GCU and preorder, I'm game to pick it up after messing with EA Access for a bit. Not as much content as I'd hoped, but I've spent $38 on worse. If it gives us 5-10 fun co-op sessions, I'll be satisfied.

I did. I'm not expert at competitive multiplayer games. I always though I could at least hold my own. I've been playing multiplayer (though I hate it) since the very first one: DOOM on the pc. So I have some experience throughout the years. It was not fun. The longest I stayed alive was 20 seconds. I died about 200 times. Not fun. Hopefully they made some adjustments since the beta. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I'm with Decker on this one. I'm no pro at shooters and I (also?) didn't play the beta. I enjoy the arcade-y ones, like DOOM, with friends. And that's what I'll have for this. There's already a group of 4 of us getting it tomorrow night and I imagine we will play together frequently, just like Borderlands.
If it sucks, it sucks, but I'm not expecting it to be Red Dead Redemption or even Quake Arena. I just want some pew-pews and some simple X-Wing action. |
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I hope the game pans out and those getting have a good time. And yea...for the average MP shooters out there you probably have a chance with the large maps and the modes with 32-40 players. Smaller maps which I played it was staying alive for about 20-30 seconds at best which became frustrating. The game did look good, sound good and played fairly well....I still say the longevity of the game will become an issue without other modes beside MP in 6-7 flavors.
