Making my way through these. The games still hold up remarkably well and are still a lot of fun. But man, I forgot how many enemies they throw at you. And it's not that they're hard, there's just so many of them, that it becomes annoying. Honestly, the games would improve tenfold if they cut down the number of enemies by half. Absolutely nothing would be lost and the games would be more enjoyable. It also doesn't make sense that there are so many of these goons in these remote locations.
Otherwise it's fantastic.

To add to that, especially when you are playing on crushing where 1 or 2 shots will kill you.... It is not so much the number of enemies that come at you. It is how they come at you in waves as you trigger them. It just makes combat frustrating to clear a room...take two steps away from your cover...only to have 5 more enemies jump out and attack...and repeat 2-3 times per combat encounter. It makes it feel like there are a lot more enemies than there really is and can be frustrating.

This is onsale for $19.99 digital/physical copy for the PS4. I had $11 in digital credit and somerewards points, I ended up paying .65 cents in the end.

Finally getting around the playing these ... I'm about 30% through the first one right now. While I really like the adventuring part of it, the gun fight parts are already getting old. Are all 3 of these games more gun-fighting than tomb raiding?

Yes. But the other two (as well as 4) all have much more exploration , are much longer and just generally better games than the first. The one thing that the first does really well is voice acting and establishment of character. I do think it’s important to play that one first.

I felt the combat gets better starting with part 2 also. The mechanics are pretty shitty in the first game.

Ugh, OK, I'm giving up on the first one. These gun fights go on WAY too long. Who finds that fun? bleh ... I'm grumpy now.

I would bump the difficulty all the way down and push through it. It's got a decent story and a good introduction to the characters that you spend a good chunk with the rest of the games.

Worst part is that, long gun fights, is an issue with most of the Uncharted games. At least in the last game, Uncharted 4, they tell you when you can just run away. But most of the time you have to handle the clown's car.
