Yeah thats rough. I would debate starting another character for one. Not sure you would need to level up to max for it.

what does a Transformer shield do again? i think i farmed a couple, but sold bc even though, i think they were orange, weren't all that impressive. at least not better than my 32,000 shield with modifiers like 38...

Transformer shield has a 40% chance to absorb bullets, and converts 100% of shock damage to shields. I use the OPQ System with a Transformer shield since the OPQ has some sort of shock nova, and using it up close constantly recharges my shields.

The Pearl of Knowledge is a quest reward from Claptrap in the Guns Love and Tentacles DLC.

I believe I saw someone somewhere state that quest rewards can be gamed by completing a mission at whatever level you want, and then bumping up to Mayhem Level 10 right before speaking to the quest giver. That will then give you the reward at Mayhem Level 10. I have not tried this tactic yet. This of course will not get you a level 60 reward if you are at level 30, for example. It only affects the Mayhem level aspect.

Yeah, I just got a decent Transformer shield, bout 27,000. Doesn’t seem too better, if at all to my 32,000 which goes to 38k with artifacts and such.

And I sold that pearl too, way back. Didn’t seem to do much...

I always hated Maliwan weapons, always. Bc of the charge and not instant fire. But I found a nice handgun with great damage and fast shooting. Kills enemies in new dlc in no time. Shreds them. Now, I love. Transformer shield hasn’t done anything. I never see anyone get shocked around me when full or whatever. It’s high shield so I’ll keep on now, but don’t see any other advantage. That and the lootsplosion mod is crazy. Too many guns and not nearly enough vending machines in this dlc. Doesn’t matter, I’ll finish up and that’s it. Guardian tokens only not enough to do stuff over again though those Takedowns I’d like to conquer once. Who knows. Can’t not have fun blowing up things and beings up...

i am back on mayhem 10. i have the glitch on the final dlc where i can't complete it. i went and did other things before completing the quest and it won't trigger blowing the door open.

soon as it is fixed i'll finish. enjoyed the DLC. much shorter than last two though.

9/10 dlc 4. Looks insane. Max level cap now 65, but that free for everyone.

Re: Borderlands 3 (9/13/2019: PC, PS4, XB1, Stadia)

question...i haven't finished the DLC "Bounty of Blood" yet? i wanted to finish before the next on 9/10. but, i'm already capped at level 60 and thus won't be able to increase that until 9/10 when new out as cap goes to 65.

so does it make sense to finish the BoB dlc and gain no level increase or wait till cap rises and then finish that and then move on to new DLC, perhaps at a higher level? thanks.

Re: Borderlands 3 (9/13/2019: PC, PS4, XB1, Stadia)

I don't really feel that these higher levels make much of a difference, unless you are trying to farm for the highest level weapons. I'm still using a level 57 weapon as my main. Do whatever makes you happy, I don't think it will impact your gaming much in the long run.

Borderlands 3 Free Next-Gen Upgrade Confirmed, New DLC Announced

Announced during the company's PAX Online 2020 showcase, Gearbox confirmed that Borderlands is coming to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. And, if you own the game on current-gen consoles, you'll receive a free upgrade to the respective next-gen version, and be able to carry across all saves and additional purchases.

The next-gen versions run at 60 fps at 4K resolution on both next-gen systems in single-player. And the arrival of these next-gen versions will also bring two requested features that will be available to PS4 and Xbox One players via a free patch: Four-player splitscreen, and the option to do vertical splitscreen in two-player co-op.

Meanwhile, Gearbox also confirmed additional DLC coming later this year. While the next paid DLC won't be similar to the campaign DLCs that have been part of the season pass, it will include both a new game mode and a new skill tree for each Vault Hunter, which also means new Action Skills.

Gearbox showcased FL4k's new Trapper skill tree, a more defensive-minded skill tree that focuses on shields and survivability, while FL4K's new Action Skill is Gravity Snare. This throwable trap sends enemies skyward before they're slammed into the ground. FL4K will also have a new pet option, the Hyperion Loaderbot, which can be be customized toward other a far-ranged ION Loader, a more close-quarters BUL Loader, and the firepower-focused WAR Loader.

Get ready to make all kinds of mayhem with Borderlands 3's new Season Pass 2, which will feature two more add-ons unlike anything we've done before. This new season will include the Designer's Cut and Director's Cut DLCs, which each offer new modes and ways to play. A copy of Borderlands 3 is required to play the content in Season Pass 2, which will be available for purchase on November 10 starting with the Designer's Cut. The second half of Season Pass 2, Director's Cut, is planned to release in Spring 2021; we'll have more details to share closer to launch.

In the Designer's Cut, launching on November 10 for all platforms, you’ll get an additional Skill Tree for each Vault Hunter and a brand-new game mode called Arms Race. We'll be diving deeper into these features in the coming weeks, with some big reveals planned:
  • October 20, 9:00 AM PT - Amara/FL4K new Skill Tree reveals with livestreams and a special episode of Ultimate Vault Hunters
  • October 22, 9:00 AM PT - Moze/Zane new Skill Tree reveals with livestreams and a special episode of Ultimate Vault Hunters
  • October 29, 9:00 AM PT - The Borderlands Show premieres, featuring the new Arms Race mode and much more
  • October 30, 9:00 AM PT - The Bordercast debuts the first live, hands-on Arms Race gameplay
Starting at 9:00 AM PT on October 20, see Amara and FL4K's new Skill Trees in action over on the official Borderlands Twitch channel as members of the Borderlands Creator Team showcase a fresh suite of powerful Action Skills and passive skills; Schviftyfive and Triple_Gz will also delve into the new trees on an episode of Ultimate Vault Hunters. Then come back a week later at 9:00 AM PT on October 22 to see live gameplay of Moze and Zane's new Skill Trees, with Moxsy serving up a fresh build on Ultimate Vault Hunters.

If you can't make the streams, don't worry! We'll reveal the new Skill Trees in their entirety over on the character pages for Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, Moze the Gunner, and Zane the Operative so you can start theorycrafting your next killer build.

On October 29, a special episode of The Borderlands Show will premiere at 9:00 AM PT on the Borderlands Twitch channel, showcasing everything you need to know about the new Arms Race mode. Regular hosts Greg Miller and Fran Mirabella from Kinda Funny will be joined by special guests to discuss all the added mayhem in the Designer's Cut.

Then on October 30 at 9:00 AM PT on the Borderlands Twitch channel, join Mitsu and Tessachka for an episode of The Bordercast dedicated to Arms Race, including the first-ever live hands-on gameplay. Can't wait to get more information about the new mode before then? Check out this recent GameSpot interview.

We're saving Director's Cut details for another day, but rest assured it will be bursting with next-level mayhem as Borderlands 3 continues its second year. Be sure to come back for all the imminent reveals, and we'll see you in the chat!

They make it sound like it's just new game MODES, and not new content like new levels, enemies and stories.

This just hit $9.99 at Target this week, is it worth it? Is anyone still playing?

The only Borderlands I played was Borderlands 2 on PS3. I really enjoyed it but eventually I stopped when it became clear the main thrust of the game was grinding for loot. I'm more of a story guy, pardon the pun, and I didn't like having to farm for guns over and over. Still, a good story and a fun world to play in, too. I don't have a lot of time for games so I don't need a gigantic 40+ hour game but a good deal on something fun for at least a little while is intriguing, even if I don't end up finishing it. Wondering if I would enjoy this one for ten bucks.

Thoughts?

Re: Borderlands 3 (9/13/2019: PC, PS4, XB1, Stadia)

I'm not much of a farmer for weapons, I mostly just play through the storylines, and will attempt some of the raid bosses or higher difficulties. The mayhem modes, when I last played it months ago, were kind of a fun way to change up the game. I don't know if those have been modified since that time. Borderlands 3 is very generous with the weapon drops. Story is... not great. I found it so bad that I had no desire to play through it again. Fortunately the mayhem modes added enough difficulty to the game so I didn't try for NG+. The DLC for Love Guns and Tentacles was a lot of fun. I played some of the free seasonal events before tapping out, and they ranged from ok to pretty fun. The improvements to gameplay made the game significantly more fun.

If you can get past the irritating storyline, it's probably worth $10.

The storyline is terrible compared to BL2, the actual gameplay is much better. The DLC stories I felt were much more fun than the main story line.
