They have been saying for weeks/months that they would do it. No surprises. Another group formed to stop and arrest them, looks like they didn't do such a good job.

Sorry for my shitty spelling as I posted it from my phone. I guess the good thing is that should be up soon....they can't make the NSA wait too long.
Xbox.com/status is crashed due to traffic in case anyone was wondering as well.

While obviously the hackers* are to blame, but Sony and especially MS have to understand that this shit happens, and happens continually, and with more frequency these days. Which makes their decision have their consoles so connected be truly idiotic. My cousin just got an XbOne for Christmas, and called me about not being connect and play it. And I had to explain to him how he basically has a brick until Live is back up and running. How is that fair to people who pay good money for a system when it has to rely on something to prone to attacks?
*I use this term loosely, as these guys just use DDoS attacks and aren't really "hacking" anything

I'll say it again...if every Xbox and Sony owner contribute just $1 to a bounty on their heads....and frankly don't care less dead or alive....I bet they would be apprehended within a week. And when they do get caught their picture should be posted across every game and tech site out there. They won't be able to catch a breath without looking over their shoulder considering the world we live in today.

They publicly posted which IPs to attack, so even if someone were to do something about Lizard Squad, there are legions more who aren't affiliated with 'em who'd continue the attack for lulz. With the way the attacks are distributed, there's not an easy way to say "well, we're getting killed by these IPs, so we'll block incoming traffic from them".

Now, if they would figure out the average of users on at a time and the cost per hour of what we pay for Plus or Live. Then multiply how much we pay times the average number of users online. And last multiply that number by the number of hours the service is down and turn that into a monetary fine then this shit wouldn't happen nearly as frequently.

New PS4 sitting downstairs. Like a brick.
These super-leet haxxors' twitter is either the most pathetic bleats of eminently punchable, backwards baseball cap wearing fuckheads or a pitch perfect pantomime of the same.
DDOS is just too easy these days. A solution needs to be agreed upon by ISPs.

Have we considered the possibility that the downtime is simply a result of networks that have lately been proven to be shaky and unreliable experiencing an influx of new users on Christmas day? It's not hard to say "Hey, I'm gonna take down XBL/PSN on Christmas day!" and then when they very predictably go down saying "LOL, told ya!"

So, what's unavailable for each console?
Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo 6 consoles.
For Microsoft and Sony, I guess at least you can play games from disc, in the previous generation consoles.
Too busy to test right now. :P

Wait, with the Xbox1 and the PS4, you can't even play games from discs without being connected to the network or is it just downloaded games? And if it is downloaded games, I thought they install on your console? You can't play them without being connected even if they are completely downloaded?
