Re: I hate checkpoints

I hate checkpoints that come just before lengthy, unskippable scenes.

If I had known the thing used checkpoints I never would have bought it. How do you feel about not being able to save when and where you want? Do you like playing the same damn thing over and over and over and over?
I ran into the same thing with that game. Restarted the same area probably 20 times, said "fuck it," shut it off and sold it the next day. No game is worth that annoyance.

Surprised people had problems with TLoU. I didn't find it overly difficult. Maybe the part in the barn with only Ellie where you get swarmed.

Also, I would have gone insane if GTAV didn't have checkpoints during missions.

Re: I hate checkpoints

Two bad you guys quit at that part. I'd say it was the hardest section for me in the game as well. Once you get past it, you're able to level up some and the rest of the game was very enjoyable...

If I remember correctly, that was the same section that was included in the demo that came with God of War Ascension. I played through that demo a couple times, so maybe that's why I didn't have any problems with it when the full game came out

That said, if stealth games aren't your thing you were probably never going to enjoy The Last of Us, regardless of checkpoints. You probably saved yourself a lot of misery by quitting when you did because that stealth dynamic is pretty much the whole game.
Thanks for taking the time and the explanation. I appreciate it.

Re: I hate checkpoints

I am guessing it is the one-on-one fight using Ellie?

I always play games on the easiest settings... Most times its the right balance of challenge and time spent on a game.

I'm pretty sure it's the section in the old skyscraper where you have to use a lot of stealth. It was a major pain at that point in the game...

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

Re: I hate checkpoints

Mine was a few hours in. You are in a rectangular room. Exit is at the end. There is a room in the middle, hallways on both sides. Enemies in both halls, in the room and in the back hall near the exit. All stealth to get through it. Annoying.
