Yeah, the story wrapped up so well, I don't see what they could add on - except maybe that "Malaysia job" they kept talking about.

Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4, 5/10/2016)

I haven't had much time to play over the past couple weeks, so I was stuck playing a chapter here and there until I finished it (not ideal, but I still had a blast with the game). Not as strong as U2, but close and easily my GOTY so far. You could really tell this was from TLoU team, because story and character relationships came first and the action/puzzles came second. Not necessarily a bad thing, but different from the other Uncharted games where each game had set pieces which the game seemed to revolve around. REALLY like how they wrapped it up and I wouldn't mind if
Spoiler:
they had the daughter in the next game as a young adult explorer following in her parents footsteps with Nate/Elena/Sully in there as support characters.

Overall, very pleased on how the game turned out and highly recommend. Probably won't touch the MP stuff, but wouldn't mind trying out the single player DLC once it's on sale.

This is my first Uncharted game, and I'm loving it! The balance between shooting sections and exploration stuff is pitch perfect for me. Kinda annoyed I didn't play the other games first (never had a PS3), but when I'm done with this, I'll go back and give those earlier games a try. Might skip one as I hear that's a bit clunky, but definitely will play 2 and possibly 3.

I'm surprised you didn't just pick up the Uncharted Remastered collection. It's been available for under $30, and the games hold up pretty well.

In my opinion, it adds quite a lot to Uncharted 4 knowing the story of all the characters and how they get where they are in part 4.

without a doubt
playing 4 will be much more satisfying knowing the background of the characters ... though the game does function pretty well as a stand alone adventure

Thanks for reminding me -- I was away on vacation and I just stopped playing this. I need to get back to it.

I'm about halfway through, and while I'm not bringing knowledge from the prior 3 games in with me, they're doing a pretty good job of keeping me up to speed.
But yeah, seeing how much I'm enjoying 4, I wish I had at least played 2 and 3 before. Or at least gave them a shot. Ah well, I can still go back and fill in.

For what it's worth, I also don't think you should skip 1. It holds up fine, and it's a nice introduction to all the major characters. It's also not particularly long.

Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4, 5/10/2016)

When I get around to getting the collection I'll definitely give it a go. It will probably be sometime before I get to it, though. I just build new PC that can handle modern games, so I can finally play the new Tomb Raider (don't have an Xbox one), and I also want to replay the first game in this new Tomb Raider series again. Considering how similar Tomb Raider and Uncharted are, I wouldn't want to burn myself out on the sameyness of the games.

Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4, 5/10/2016)

So Uncharted 4 came with the PS4 Slim I recently got and I just started playing it. I've never played any of the Uncharted games. I wanted to pop in here, because I'm not really enjoying it so far and am trying to determine if I should stick with it.

It's very possible it's a great game, but just not my kind of game. It seems very cut scene-heavy which gets pretty tiresome for me. I don't mind some story-telling in my games, but it feels like I've been watching more than I've been actively playing so far. And perhaps because I've never played any of the other Uncharted games, the story being told so far isn't grabbing my attention, but I'm also not that far into it (Vargas just got shot).

So, my question for fans of the game is...does the ratio of gameplay-to-cut scenes increase after the initial portion of the game? If I'm not into it at this point, do you think it likely that will change further into the game? Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4, 5/10/2016)

I thought the game started a little slow, but picks up about a quarter or a third of the way in quite significantly. I feel like a lot of the early parts of the game relies on fan service and familiarity with the previous games and character, so I can see why it would be completely boring for someone unfamiliar with the series.

While i think you'll enjoy it more if you stick with it, I think it might be worthwhile looking for a cheap/sale copy of the remastered Uncharted games, or borrowing/renting from somewhere if possible.

Cool man, thanks for the input. I might give the previous ones a shot.

Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4, 5/10/2016)

Uncharted is one of the best action / adventure series out there, and the story is a big part of it. If you want the full experience, you should pick up the collection. It's three games and $16 this week with GCU. Without it, it's like starting out on season 4 of a TV series.

The new multiplayer update is live - including a co-op Survival mode.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is coming August 22nd for a whopping $40. I'm super glad I bought the season pass now when Best Buy had it on sale for $22.50.

If you pre-order, you get a free digital copy of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (the four PS2 games).

Way more than I would like to pay but I'll still pick it up. I don't think Naughty Dog would half ass something that's priced this high.

At $40 it better be no shorter than 2/3 the length/content of the Uncharted 4.

This looks absolutely amazing. Almost like an entirely new game instead of story DLC.

Yep. The only thing I don't like is that Nadine is in it. I would have preferred Chloe and Nate's brother or even a prequel with Chloe and Nate.

That's pretty much what it is. It's a standalone release and is also coming out at retail.
