Didn't know the DLC was out... I'll definitely pick it up when it goes on sale. The game is so cheap these days I don't see a scenario where I trade it in. I'd like to 100% but not until I finish FC4.

Also just started playing last night. its pretty fun, a bit harder than I thought. I read some similar tips about doing Main missions first rather than randomly getting my ass wiped by an Army with 3 Captains. Also, how do I get Power? I'm hoarding Activity points or whatever they're called until the next tier opens but I need Red Power Points for that.

This is one of those rare games where I'm actually enjoying collecting shit. The little lore and audio attached to the Relics are pretty interesting. And I'm assuming the secret writing on the wall rewards something cool?

The only problem with the audio relics which is where most games fail; why do I have to sit in the menu to listen to it? I started them all in case there was a trophy (good call, as there was) but didn't fully listen to any of them. Bioshock did it first and still did it best. I should be able to listen while I'm roaming around the world.

To get red/power points you have to take out certain captains. They are marked with red markers on the map. I had fun just doing these for a few hours and leveling up. Got my ass kicked plenty of times and got to see the nemesis system at work.

Also, rarely should you run into more than one captain at a time. If you see more than one highlighted in red in shadow mode, take off and find something else to do. I did later in the game, but by that time I was leveled enough and just better at fighting that it was easier to take on more than one.

Re: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

I was on my last "Brand A Warchief" mission. Failed twice. Third time I branded a Bodyguard and A Captain. The Captain goes down and I try to finish the fight. The Warchief starts retreating and I think it's over. Out of nowhere 3 Caragor interrupt and Tear up the Warchief making quick work of him. He dies and the Branded Bodyguard takes his Place! Amazing.

25hrs 37m logged. I had a great time and can't wait for a sequel. End battle was pretty disappointing but had fun the rest of the game. Nemesis system is so different I can see why critics names this game GOTY.

I just started the Lord of the Hunt DLC. Adds a few more achievements and missions. No added abilities though.

I just beat this. The game was fun, but wow was the final fight anti-climactic.

Are the missions much different than the regular game? New locations? Worth getting?

 Seriously. What a ball-drop. I couldn't believe that was it.

Missions are basically the same type. No new locations. I bought the season pass so maybe in the next DLC.

Yeah it was a big, :wtf: However, it's not like they can have you take down Sauron. Despite that, still GOTY.

Re: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

finished up my platinum last night. Those dagger missions were the biggest PITA. The worst part was if you fail getting back to the starting point to retry. I'll probably wait until all the DLC is released and on sale before trying any. Fun game though. can't wait for them to release 2 sequels every year until it becomes as tired a franchise as Assassins Creed.

Another award added to this game.....I'm starting to regret not getting this; just had to much on my plate and some other games coming I wanted. Next time this takes a dip on price I might have to get it.

Anyone play the Bright Lord DLC? It's significantly harder, although it adds a cool feature with Celebrimbor being able to use the power of the One Ring. The Sauron battle is ridiculous and insanely hard, and I would dare say impossible to beat without the One Ring. Finally finished it last night. Only four trophies across the main game and the two packs that I don't have - one in the Hunt DLC and three in this one.

I finally got into this game yesterday and now it has taken over my life. I made myself go on a 20 mile ride today as a reminder of the world outside the room with my PS4 in it.

Re: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Borrowing this from my company library and enjoying the heck out of it. Took a bit to figure out what to do as far as attacking the Orc captains (I kept getting destroyed and killed) but after settling in to other parts of the game and upgrading my abilities it's become pretty enjoyable. I'm not a big fan of Lord of the Rings and find most of the movies on the boring side, but I'm liking the setting of the game so far outside of the story bits i've done with Gollum.

The Arkham style fighting pretty enjoyable with the combination of attacks and weapons. I can see why this won a lot of GOTY awards. My complaint, which seems typical, is that a lot of the side missions are fairly repetitive and similar.

I also just finished this. Great game, despite the obvious "Get ready for the sequel!" ending.

Now debating whether or not it's worth it to plunk down the cash for the DLC.

It's a good time to be making the decision if you're on the One: the season pass is $10 for Gold members this week.

At list, I probably wouldn't recommend it, though. Lord of the Hunt wasn't too hot, and I haven't heard very good things about The Bright Lord.

Finished all the Bow and Sword missions, but I have 3 more stealth Dagger missions that make me want to cry. I don't mind failing, but having to run back to the icon to start them again is driving me nuts. Just let me retry right away damn it!

yup, thats the worst part of those dagger missions. there's one in particular that took me forever. you had to clear out 3 areas of a town. major PITA. and the starting point is all the way back on a roof.

fumanstan 04-10-15 12:48 PM

Re: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Yeah, that might be the same one i'm stuck on currently which has me clearing out 3 areas without getting noticed. Ugh :(

Supermallet 04-10-15 07:29 PM

Re: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

I didn't even bother with those final dagger missions. Total PITA, and I saw no benefit other than a trophy.

Saruman laughs at your incompetence.

fumanstan 04-11-15 10:26 AM

Finally beat those missions. Fuck you Saruman!

I have a ton of Outcast missions and 2 hunter ones left as far as side missions go, not sure if I'll do them as I have one last main mission left. Is there a way to go back and do them after beating the game?

Michael Corvin 04-11-15 10:35 AM

Re: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Been awhile since I finished but IIRC it just dumps you back into the world after finishing it, and leaves the last mission checkpoint open.
