There definitely are, but this was the first Halo game on current gen. Expectations were pretty high. It should have blown everyone away, but instead came and went with little fanfare. This was easily the worst of the main Halo games. Your A.I teammates sucked, you have literally the same boss battle like 4 or 5 times, and you play as Master Chief maybe half of the game. Between the train wreck that The Master Chief Collection was and the massive disappoint of Halo 5, I have zero faith in the franchise moving forward with 343.

Not me man, The only Halo game I've played besides 5 was the first and I loved it. This just felt like a generic beta or something.

The controls aren't too shabby but it's just so dull and boring. Multi-player is just a COD copy....but only more boring.

Levels are bland and the guns are horrible. The cut scenes look good though.

I wasn't expecting anything and had no expectations......just thought the game was really bad.

Halo 5: Guardians Hammer Storm Launch Vid Shows New Stuff, Warzone Firefight Teased

343 Industries has revealed a rundown of the remaining spring/summer content making its way to Halo 5: Guardians soon, which excitingly includes a 'Memories of Reach' and 'Warzone Firefight' update. The update also heralds the arrival of various fixes and adjustments for the game too.

With Battle of Shadow and Light, Cartographer's Gift, Infinity's Armory and Hammer Storm all now available, Halo 5 has received 11 new maps, 12 new modes including Big Team Battle and Forge, and 180 new REQ items, and they've all been completely free.

And the ensuing four content updates aim to add even more free stuff in the coming months, including Warzone Firefight. As for Hammer Storm, that's winging its way to Halo 5: Guardians, adding Grifball, Assault and Fiesta modes, the new Torque map, the Gravity Hammer, the Halo: CE Pistol, new weapon skins, armours, emblems, visors, stances and assassinations.

That's not all though. The update also adds a new 'ball' mechanic from Assault and Grifball to Forge, paving the way for Oddball and Ricochet. You can see Halo 5: Guardians Hammer Storm content update in action via the lovely new trailer below.

Still no Rocket Race? What does 343 have against that mode?

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

HOLY SHIT!

Eight players will team up in Warzone Firefight to complete five increasingly difficult rounds of gameplay. 343 Industries will include lots of enemies, like its new tier of Mythic bosses. According to Microsoft, they're much more dangerous than the Warden Eternal. And, there's a lot of them—Warzone Firefight will include "the most on-screen enemies in the history of the franchise."

Warzone Firefight, which was announced in February, will give players access to all REQ weapons, vehicles, power-ups, and armor mods.

Ghosts of Meridian will bring with it not only new maps, vehicles, weapons, weapon skins, armors, helmets, emblems, and more, but also game updates such as Forge improvements, multiplayer adjustments for both Warzone and Arena, sandbox and weapon updates (such as Spartan Laser tuning), UI updates, and more. Teams across the studio are wrapping up the release, and we’ll keep you updated as work completes and we get ready to send this sucker out the door.

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

It's not a great multiplayer game. Halo 3 was still the reigning champ of multiplayer for the franchise, and what Halo 4 did wasn't bad, either.

Warzone is an amazing addition... it really is. That said, the card system absolutely destroys how fun that mode has the potential to be. Instead of going all out and using your stuff, people instead look at the scoreboard and say, "Nah, we're not going to win this round... I'll save this for another time." Yet, part of what makes Warzone great is the fact that the score goes up and down wildly. Anyone can win... but only if players actually feel incentivized for using their cards. Instead, the opposite is happening... people are finding reasons to NOT use them, and thus not help their team win the game. The drops on those cards are silly, too... there are some nice items that I have barely obtained through plain old grinding and earning... which again gives me little reason to actually want to USE the good stuff.

Microtransactions ruin the day, yet again.

If anyone is still looking for the "Limited" Collector's Edition, the price dropped again on Amazon. $91.77 for new or $65.52 through AWD. The LE is also $54.29 new or $41.45 through AWD.

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

So I bought an Xbox One a few years ago for Halo 5 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. One of those games delivered. Can you guess which one?

I played the first couple of levels back then and wasn't feeling it so I set it aside. I just introduced my 11 year old daughter to Halo 1 this weekend so I figured I'd go back to 5 and give it another go.

Up front disclaimer: Halo is probably one of my favorite francises and I'm one of the few that "buy in" for the campaign. I believe I've played through all of the games at least on Heroic and probably most on Legendary. I've replayed campaigns over and over again just because I enjoy them so much. That being said...

Holy hell these comments are on the nose:

This is the worst game I've played in a long time. Easily the worst Halo by a very large margin. Hell, it's barely Halo at this point. It looks like Crysis, the weapons feel like Crysis, you play as everyone's favorite Spartan... Locke? that looks like he belongs in Crysis and the environments feel like they're straight out of Crysis.

Even when you get to play as Master Chief the whole game still feels "off" because none of the weapons feel like Halo weapons. The Promethean weapons are dismally bad, and the human weapons don't even feel "right." The shotgun has no "oomph," the magnum is weak and hollow, the battle rifle is slow and feels like a bb gun, the assualt rifle sounds like a pea shooter... ugh. The sniper rifle is decent but head shots are a joke. 3 head shots to take down a Promethean? Come on now.

The soundtrack is even disappointing. One of the great things about Bungie's Halo games was the score. It was movie-like and bombastic and just sucked you into the game that much further. It made you feel like rushing into the battle field and being a badass. This one's music is an afterthought. I think the ONLY thing that actually feels "correct" and out of a Halo game is the Warthog.

The Prometeans are a terrible enemy. Am I really going to spend an entire game shooting space dogs? What. The. Fuck? Then all the enemies disappear and zip around elsewhere. It feels like I'm fighting a jumping Yoda with ADD hopped up on Starbucks. So freaking annoying. I mean the Flood wasn't as annoying as the enemies in this game. I started the game on Heroic and am up through Chapter 6 or so and dropped it on Normal, but am debating just dumping it on easy just to breeze through this fucker. I don't think I've ever played a Halo game on Easy.

I think playing the original Halo concurrently with this one only exacerbates the differences. 343 has royally fucked this franchise. This is a steaming pile of shit. I mean it's freaking Halo. You have Master Chief with a standard set of weapons fighting the Covenent. How do you fuck that up?

Holy. Shit. Where's the Tylenol?

I didn't like Halo 4 at all, so I didn't even give Halo 5 a shot.

Doesn't look like I missed much ...

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

I still stand by my statement

I've played through every Halo game at least two times (including Reach & ODST). Hell, the first game I play through to completion about every other year. This is the first one I uninstalled after finishing and never touched again.

The franchise died as soon as Bungie left.

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

Since I dropped it to easy I just finished breezing through it. What a dumpster fire. Spoiler (for those behind in their pile like me), it ends on a cliffhanger so I guess short of a reboot, the Prometheans and Guardians will be back in 6.

343 was really stretching their writing chops having an A.I. character go rogue and try and take over/control the universe. That's some original thought provoking storytelling going on there that we haven't seen before. Oh and 'eff them for ruining a great character in the process.

Deleting now. Buh-bye #5.
