Never played any of this series before, how similar is it to Just Cause 2? I loved that game.

Not very.

It's far more tied to a story, and while it's an open world game, you open it up one piece at a time. Also, it's ore of a first-person-shooter, where as JC2 was more of a 3rd person action game.

Hmmm, ok thanks. I'll rent it. It's hard to find games like JC2.

Wolf359, if you have a 360, I highly recommend FC3... it's fantastic.

Not anymore, was FC3 similar to JC2?

FC3 had some similarities to JC2, mostly that it was a semi-open world shooter sandbox with a lot of vehicles, enemies and wingsuits. But more story focused, and not entirely similar. Oh and first person.

One week away! This and GTA V are probably the two titles I am most excited about so far during the PS4 cycle.

Hey, unlike Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Unity, I think Far Cry 4 turned out really good, as (again, unlike AC:U), it's review embargo lifts on 11/14, 4 days before the games release, where as Unity's embargo was noon on the day of release.

Amazing what you can do when you don't do annual releases.

I still can't believe there's no MP mode revolving around hunting animals. Something like this;

Hunted: A specific set of Animals is the target. To win the match, players will have to hunt and kill it with a specific weapon. Match ends when the animal targets are killed.

Reviews are starting to pop up now (early embargo!), and everything's been exceptionally positive thus far. A huge sigh of relief after Unity.

Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

I didn't have the concerns here that I had with Unity. Far Cry is the more consistent series, even it's "weaker" spin offs on the Xbox / Xbox 360 (Instincts / Predator) were pretty decent.

Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets has revealed on Twitter that he has formed a new studio called Panache Digital Games. The studio is based in Montreal and there are no other details known at this time.

Patrice Désilets worked at Ubisoft from 1997 until 2010. During that time he was the creative director for the original Assassin's Creed and its sequel Assassin's Creed II. He also worked on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, and more.

Désilets left Ubisoft in June 2010 and joined THQ Montreal in Summer 2011. However, THQ Montreal was acquired by Ubisoft in January 2013. In May 2013 he left Ubisoft again.
That says a lot about Ubisoft

Ubisoft has so many studios. The hate being lobbied at them for Unity is kind of silly, and the paranoia about if Far Cry 4 was going to be broken too was a bit much.

My concern was that Far Cry 3 kind of ran like ass on consoles.

Yes it did. Anyone who buys this for a 360 or PS3 does so at their own peril.

And I agree worrying that all Ubisoft games will suck based on the latest Assassin's Creed game makes about as much sense as worrying that Madden 15 or Dragon Age : Inquisition would suck because NBA Live 14 was terrible.

Sounds like the Far Cry 4 story is about 15 hours in length and just ok. I'm more interested in the gameplay. I did not like in one of IGN's videos how the elephant passed through fabric without the fabric moving. The elephant just passed through it like it was not there. That is laziness.

Pre-order cancelled!

Wait, I bought it digitally, so I'm stuck with ghost fabric anyway.

You don't know much about elephants.

If you're getting a sense of deja vu, it's because exactly the same thing happened with Unity. For Far Cry 4, Ubisoft held a console review event; giving multi-platform outlets the chance to have their reviews in place for today's embargo. We, naturally, need to play the game on PC. Last night, we were informed that code wouldn't arrive until Tuesday, the date of the game's launch.

....

We asked Ubisoft for an official statement, which you will find below:
"The reason why we did not provide review code until now is that there is a title update which won’t be available before Monday prior to launch. However, we will officially communicate on the title update prior the release of the game so consumers are aware."

Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

I am worried however of the rumor of Far Cry becoming a yearly release. Come to think of it, outside of AC and Call of Duty does any publisher have a yearly release game that isn't sports related?
