Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

I'm down to needing four of the Fashion Week Craft items. The other day I just spent some time trying to do some of the side stuff...racing, free the hostages, bomb defusing, etc...those alone take some time. There really is a lot to do and it's not all a cake-walk. I haven't even touched the Master Outpost Missions and only toyed with the Arena 3-4 times. it's still fun and unpredictable as any game I've seen. Heck...the other day I signed in, walked out the door from the Safe House and right away jumped on by a Tiger. That's the part I really like vs a lot of the other games...anything can and will happen.

Any recommendations as to taking down a rhino?

Also - some friendly advice... I found that using the gyro-copter I was able to land on the top of the towers and immediately "liberate" them. I only have four so far, but 3 for 3 when landing near the top.

I've use a rocket launcher and/or granades, though 1 out of 3 times the hide becomes unusable when using such heavy artillery.

I used my fully-upgraded recurve bow and cheesed them using rocks or trees. Stand on rock, circle around tree.

Takes longer than the more explosive options, obviously, but hey -- 2 guaranteed hides for the price of 1.

For any large animal that moves slow i try and put a tree or something stationary they cannot ram between me and them. Then i run circles around the thing trying to shot the animal in the head. If the animal is fast that i am after then i throw meat and heat snipe them from a distance. I have all the weapons, upgrades and mods now, so its very easy indeed.

Or just put an arrow in one from the middle of the river. They sink like rocks, but will charge anyway.

Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

Just finished this up. Logged just over 30 hours and had a blast for the entire run. Was a little let down by the ending but other than that, 30 hours of fun gaming....I got my money's worth.

Down to four games in my backlog for the 360. Deadpool, Diablo, AC:Rogue, and Murdered:Soul Suspect. Decisions, decisions.

Play Murdered: Soul Suspect and then you'll be able to play something else a day or two later.

Not to get off thread topic...but I'm going to guess you say that because it's short to play through? Just wondering.

Yeah that game seems a prime candidate for PS Plus freebie.

Working my way thru the missions to unlock the north part of the map.

I just started playing it this week and I'm having the same issue. It's ridiculous. I love the game but this is insane... like ten minutes of just sitting on that 'Kyrat' screen while the facts cycle through. Right now ACU's magical popup Frenchmen don't sound so bad.

Is there a bug regarding the recurve bow? I bought it the first store I got to, then dropped it or swapped it out for another item and now it doesn't even appear in the store at all unless I'm totally blind. Any ideas?

Edit-I'm a moron I didn't realize you could scroll down in the weapons screen in the trading post

I'm guessing this was all related to the DDOS attacks?

^^ I don't think so. Quite often I get the "endless" loading screen. Typically the only way to correct it is to hard power down my X1 and start over. I think it's on Ubisofts end with the "online" BS.

I've been lucky so far. No bugs yet.

Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

Far Cry remains one of my favorite series. The open world of the first one made it much better than D3 or HL2, which came out about the same time. I'm not a fan of the unskippable cutscenes or loading screens, and the Shangri-la and almost all of the "quest" missions are very weak compared to the rest of the game, but it's still VERY strong.

It feels like the quests were farmed out to some other company. Deux Ex did this also and it had the same problem: the vibe of the game totally changes ... and not for the better.

Buzzer + Grenade Launcher is a killer combination for most things.

I'll have to remember that.

It seems to be worse when the game leaves the standard 'Kyrat' areas. I've given up the Shangri-la missions because, if I die it literally took me a half hour to get back into the game... it would load for ten minutes (with the Shangri-La load screen, then seem to start up for a second before switching to a different loading screen (that simply says Loading) for another 10 minutes, which always fails and sends me back to the main menu. I then have to pick 'Offline Game' again and wait another good ten minutes before I can actually play again. Even worse, in the Shangri-La stages -- after all of this nonsense -- it always starts me back at the start of the level regardless of what Checkpoints I had gotten to before dying. As a result I *despise* the Shangri-La levels and refuse to play them.

They're not yet ready for the Yeti, but the Escape From Durgesh Prison is now available.

You and a fellow captive have been rounded up and tortured in Yuma’s prison. Escape from the prison and survive the hostile lands of Pagan Min’s Kyrat.

hmmm... $10 and 1.3gigs - does it involve new locations, or is it in the map of the main game?

I think it's the same location. I have the Season Pass. If I can download it now, I'll try it tonight and let you know.

So I tried a little bit of it. It's kind of a trip actually. It is the same location, but then again not -- the map is all open but almost completely emtpty except for animal icons and lots of question marks. You start in a tower with nothing. Seriously, nothing (except your Wing Suit). You have a huge, nearly completely empty map and 30 minutes to make it to a heavily fortified extraction zone. You have to seek out locations, find weapons, ammo, everything. You can do missions to increase skills and get time bonuses, but everything takes precious time. And any death will cause a complete restart. Very cool mode. Would love to try it co-op. Will have to talk my best friend into buying the Season Pass now.
