Since I have a PS4 now, I'll probably pick it the next gen version instead of the 360. I hope that EA does something like last year and puts out a deluxe edition with the subscription to NFL Sunday Ticket. That was awesome.


I know Madden gets shit on alot in this forum. When was the last time a Madden game got good all around reviews from magazines and gamers? Seems like every season, someone finds something wrong with it & vows to never buy Madden again. :D

I know it sucks that EA has the monopoly on NFL video games.

I love football and I always purchase the newest madden there is, but somehow this game nerver gets me...I pretty much always end up playing fifa then, eventhough I think soccers boring..

EA uses the same engine for motion in Madden like they do in FIFA, but I can't see any of that in Madden

I think Madden usually gets great reviews from magazines/reviewers, but there are always fans who feel like they didn't change enough, or get ticked off that they changed something too much (just like any franchise that comes out every single year).

There's no NCAA game this year, right? If they actually have feature parity on next gen (er... current gen) I might buy this year's.

That's why I stopped buying it every year...the last one I bought was 2012 for my XBox 360. And it wasn't much different than the version I had for my PS3 a couple years before that, or my PS2 a couple years before that. I'd love to see it get a complete overhaul, but I guess until sales drop, there's no need.

Roster updates with new rookies, trades and free agents signings are supposed to be one of the biggest draws. However, I understand that it's kind of expensive to cough up $60 every August for a game that's only good until the following February. Then all those copies get dumped at the local Gamestop for less than half what was paid.

As long as sports games continue to be produced, they will always be seasonal games with short lifespans.

I'm hoping that EA will release another deluxe edition like last season with the free NFL Sunday Ticket subscription with Red Zone. It was online/tablet only, but I have an HDMI cable connected from my PC to my TV and it was awesome. I bought last years game primarily for that alone and that was well worth the $99+ tax.

After watching some of the gameplay demo I was impressed. I also listend to the operation sports podcast and liked what I heard from a guy who worked with nfl films and has helped them rethink the presentation.

He's playing press coverage--chucking the WR at the line. But with no WR there's no context, and it looks pretty ridiculous. Eh, it's a cover.

Gotta say though, Madden surprisingly looks good this year. I still can't believe they didn't implement True Step for all 22 players on the field this year, but I am big on presentation and they really stepped their game up this year.

Definitely looking forward to the release.

I mostly did MUT last year, so I'll probably get the Ultimate Edition this year. Looks like it has some pretty good perks.

Anyone know if a last gen review can be found online? I searched and turned up nothing. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to take the next gen plunge with Madden, or just buy it for the 360 and hold off from going next gen

Pretty sure you won't regret that. I'm super happy with my new PS4 after being an Xbox guy for a long time.

Did anyone get the disc version for Xbox One? How long did it take to install? Mine took 30 minutes before I could start the game and then an hour later it still wasn't fully installed. I just left it running and when I came back six hours later it was fully installed. Seems a little excessive. I don't have many other games so I don't know if this is the norm.

I have so far played one game, and I am biased against Madden, but I have the same complaints as every other time I play the game.

There is zero impact to the tackles. Even a hit stick tackle does not give me any kind of satisfied feeling. Very blah on that.

Forced animations make players awkward to control. I never feel like the players are doing what I want them to do.

If I catch the ball with more than 5 yards before the sideline, why is my guy running out of bounds almost every time? It is extremely frustrating how I can't turn up and run down the sidelines. I'm not talking two yards. There is significant distance between where I'm catching the ball and the sideline.

Maybe I need to play a tutorial because my timing does seem to be off. I swear I am lining up a hit stick perfectly, or timing it for a good hit, but it rarely works.

This is a problem every football game I played, but play action is still a horrendous choice. You're way too likely to get sacked compared to real football games.
