I've gotten some classic Storm covers. I have her blue power up to level 4 I think and raised her level to 69. The blue power, as long as I can get blue AP saved up is great. It does a pretty nice amount of damage to the whole team, if the health amounts are fairly low.... I've taken out all 3 enemies with her when I've gotten a lucky board with lots of blue matches off the bat.

Got 1st place in my PVE pool. Hopefully that She Hulk gets me far in the next event with essential missions!

Got 2nd in my PVE, but had to drop 400 Hero Points on health packs to keep that high. It's annoying that they decided to make the change mid-event and their previously posted explanation makes them sound like assholes. 'Sorry, we realized there was a boring way for people to be competitive in the game by spending extra time instead of money. Rather than continue letting you get sucked into something we know you really don't want, we're changing the game so the only way to compete is to spend money.' Hopefully I'm proven wrong on that, but it feels like the people willing to dump money into the game just got a huge advantage.

Yes, this! And you did exactly what they wanted, spent HP to keep yourself in contention. ;)

Look, I understand the part about them wanting players to use different combinations of heroes so everyone is not always fighting the same team. That makes sense to me but nerfing healing is not the way to do it. I tried 'Prologue healing' once or twice and it never seemed to work out for me... my heroes would end the match with less health, wouldn't generate enough blue to pop a heal, etc.

But what DID work for me was healing in PvP or PvE event matches where I could heal legitimately in an environment where RISK was present. I could play at least 7-10 PvP matches before even thinking about using a health pack as my heroes ended the match and started the next one at near full health. Sometimes I was unlucky with enemy cascades or availability of matching blues BUT this is the risk-reward part of it and I was playing the game the way it should be played, e.g. no prologue healing.

Now, I'm lucky if I can get thru 2-3 matches before using a health pack. On the flip side, I am now using more of my roster which is what the Devs wanted. However, more of my roster is now waiting to heal before I can even think about playing again (or wait for health pack regen).

The end result for me is I will be playing less as I wait for my team to heal and/or health packs to regen. Less play time means I won't be able to compete as well as I did before, which means less ISO and covers, which means my 2* to 3* conversion will take even longer now.

Finally, so what if people took the time to prologue heal? What was the big f'ing deal? It is their time they are wasting, they are still playing the game and having fun, it wasn't hurting/griefing other players, and by taking the time to do it the event clocks were still ticking down and thus they had less time to compete in it, etc.

Everything I stated above is based on my experience as a 2* team. I don't know how this plays out at 3*. Is healing as prominent at 3* as it is at 2*? Do 3* teams still use OBW or did they have Spidey to fill that role?

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I was stuck in a sucky PvE bracket for the Juggs event. I had a ton of points but still ended up at like rank 200. no she hulk for me. I was getting a little tired of having to have OBW for every fight so the change doesnt bug me too much. I do wish they would give you back like 10% of your health upon winning a match. the computer gets healed up to full each time, why cant we at least get a little bit of healing as a reward for winning? i hate having guys at like 60% of health and not wanting to use them in case they get caught by a lucky cascade. or they could give us bonus points for winning PvP matches when we enter without full health. Like if you enter a fight with 50% of your total health, you get 25% points if you win the match.

I tried to get everybody to focus on one event, but was "poo pooed".

I don't think it's a matter of event focus, though... I'm pretty sure the top contributors in both events were similar. It's a matter of how much time people have for a lot of these PvE grinds, especially the last one where it was mainly restricted to 2*s that most should have. And I don't blame anyone for needing time off from the game, the number of events is insane. I don't know how people can play this on Steam and keep up (or play this on mobile and remain married).

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Wow, the health change is way worse than we were thinking. Say you start a match with perfect health and end it with perfect health. For the next match, your characters are actually at the lowest point they hit during the previous match. They're going to have to adjust this or active play is going to drop way off.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Wolverine's healing ability at least isn't affected so he can stay slightly above 50%. For what that's worth...

Though on the flip side the idle healing is very nice for the higher characters. Sure you can't play as long at once but you can play a match or two very frequently if you're available. It worked wonderfully in the PVE event yesterday as I was waiting for the missions to recharge anyway.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

If they want to fix it, they need to seriously cut down on healing time. It shouldn't take more than an hour to heal a dead character. That would make it around 30 minutes for a character that's at 50% health. So that when your main characters get battered, you can play a few rounds with your backup characters while waiting for them to heal.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Tinkered around with my line-up a bit playing the Season 3 Shield Sim last night and this morning. While the health changes suck, they've made a fully powered up Daken a much more valuable team member. His Healing & Heat didn't get nerfed, so it's not too tough to keep him close to full health without using packs and his passive green ability ups the damage of everyone to help get through the matches more quickly.

Got my S3 10-pack this morning. 3* covers for Cap, Falcon and Sentry and seven 2*'s I had to sell. I've now got five 3*'s in the 75-80 level range and a bunch in the 40-60 range. I'm leveling up all of my 3*'s, but not taking any over 80 for now. Figure that's not too expensive from an ISO perspective and keeps me from getting tossed into the tiers with lots of maxed 3* teams. Probably will be ready to max a couple 3*'s during season 4.

Agreed. I found that in Hollowpoint Kiss with Grey BW that I do very well bringing Daken and Bullseye along. Their passive purple and green is what she needs anyway.

Bullseye's purple keeps adding very strong protect tiles and feeds her purple which yields more green for both Daken's strike tiles and her own sniper rifle to put an end to it.

When you guys are using 2* Daken and Bullseye, are you going up against 3* teams or maxed 2*s?

pinata242 06-27-14 01:24 PM

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

2*s here. My Daken is only level 47 now because I never really used him. Bullseye is 62. GBW, however, is level 100.

fujishig 06-27-14 02:29 PM

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Ah, that helps... is that an unboosted 100?

The new PvE event started, so I get to use Wolvie plus OBW again. However, my maxed covers plus She-Hulk got utterly destroyed by lvl 77 Juggernaut/Daken/Venom; I didn't even take out one character. Juggernaut must have used his moves six or seven times, with Venom web stunning me in between. Ugh. I've been saving Punisher because I need him for PvP.

Also, She Hulk's tiles make my eyes bleed.

Yeah, her covers are maxed but I haven't spent the ISO on her to get to 141.

My GBW is in the same boat. I didn't think she was worth boosting up to 141 but I may change my mind. GBW + 3* Magnito + Punisher = Amazing. Between GBWs pink power and Magnito's blue, I can run an almost unlimited cascade of crits.

Problem is GBW is horrible on deffense and there are a lot of better 3*s out there.

Caliber of any 3* character really depends on the covers you've been given, no?

I'm okay wih her with Daken, Bullseye, Thor (yellow), Hulk (black), and other green generating partners.

fujishig 06-27-14 05:24 PM

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Remember, the change is to make you rotate the characters you use! Or something.

Seriously though, is this PvE map insanely hard for anyone else? It's not the lack of healing either, since I rarely had characters die before we reached around lvl 90 or so opponents. My team was once again reduced to only She-Hulk.

That is true, but the ISO investment in her is an opportunity cost. Off the top of my head, I'd rather have any of the following on my team over her: Punisher, Patch, Lazy Cap, Thor, Daken, Sentry, Hulk, Mags, Storm, Black Panther. If she is your only fully covered 3 star character and you have the ISO, then by all means invest. But, if you have any other options, they are going to be more useful IMO.

pinata242 06-29-14 11:28 AM

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Yeah, I only leveled her up to 100 because of her event and I had ISO. Otherwise, I'm not actively pursuing her. If I ever get a cover I can use for a 3* or 4* character, I almost always have enough ISO to instantly re-max it.

Worked my way up to 2nd place in the current PVP with 873 points, with the plan to throw up an 8 hour shield. From 3:57 to 4:00, lost over 200 points to attacks. Oh well.

DaveNinja 06-30-14 11:39 AM

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I got up to rank 6 in the PvP event that ended yesterday (daredevil i think it was) with like 6 hours to go, so i put on an 8 hour shield hoping I'd end in the top 25 but ended up falling into the 30s so it was waste of the extra HP. I wasnt going to be around that evening so i wanted to be sure i got at least one punisher cover but was hoping for two.
I'm less than 200 season 3 points away from the heroic 10 pack. I cant think of any 2*s that i need anymore so hopefully i'll get a few 3*s at least. or else i'll have to start working on a Daken to try and team with Ares and Falcon.
