Re: VG Talks' Game Of The Year 2013
I've heard MOBA and DOTA more times than I can count on Weekend Confirmed but never had a clue what they were talking about. Just googled it because of your post Fumanstan. Still have no idea.

Yeah, I still have no idea what that stuff is. But I'm also not a PC gamer, so I assumed that had something to do with it.

Re: VG Talks' Game Of The Year 2013
Up to world 5 on Mario 3D World. I'm just not seeing a GOTY contender in this one. Is it good? Sure. Is it great? Not really. It's basically NSMBU in 3D. That's not a bad thing, just a "boring/umpteenth time we've gone around this merry-go-round" thing. It's got nothing on the Galaxy games. It's not challenging in the least either. Thus far I'm only missing maybe 3 stars and a couple of stamps. Give me Galaxy 3(or even something completely fresh), not this imposter.

Not to side track but I also had no clue what a MOBA was. Then I come to find out that League of Legends is literally the biggest game in the world. Looks like ten year old Warcraft III to me.
And yeah, Super Mario 3D World is terrific but not a GOTY contender. |

Re: VG Talks' Game Of The Year 2013
I wasn't quite sure where to comment on the game, but I finally completed Brothers on PC tonight, and while i was impressed with the way it told the story, I'm surprised its on so many game of the year lists. There were some good moments sprinkled throughout some beautiful environments, and I dug the control scheme, but otherwise the game felt pretty simple and way too easy. I think my expectations were a little high, especially regarding the complexity of the game and interaction between the two brothers, but instead of the gameplay was really straightforward despite the controls. Although I had to admit, the end of the game was pretty emotional.
Seeing it show up on Polygon's Top 10 made me think about it - http://www.polygon.com/2014/1/14/530...-2013-Brothers |

Now that I'm almost done with Mario and am about halfway through Zelda, my final pics:

Re: VG Talks' Game Of The Year 2013
Nice list. Although, I still need to play Rayman. Waiting for that $20.00 mark to hit.

Re: VG Talks' Game Of The Year 2013
That reminds me, I bought it for $15 and forgot all about it.

Re: VG Talks' Game Of The Year 2013
It's still no Galaxy and still not a GOTY #1 or #2 contender especially with games like Bioshock and TLOU(despite my dislike for them) in the mix.
Basically, there's more to go for than there was in the galaxy games between the green stars, yellow flags, stamps, certain unlocks in level for certain characters, etc. and even gold stars. It keeps me replaying levels. Also the sheer quantity of levels. The game just won't fucking end. It's like the Energizer bunny. I'm up to Crown World though. It's fun, but I'd take Galaxy over it any day of the week. |
Re: VG Talks' Game Of The Year 2013
I finally got around to playing BioShock(3).. Incredible. Easily in the top 5 of the year. Just the "twist" at the end was enough to put it there.. loved it!
