I went with Last of Us, just an incredible experience. GTA V was close, but the continued screw ups with the online portion (which, IMO, is a huge part of that game) kept me from really putting up as best of the best.

After playing the first chapter of Walking Dead Season 2, i'm not sure if it was impactful enough to make it GOTY anyway. Still good, but I think since it's the second time around it's not as surprising as the first.

I voted for The Last of Us. GTA5 was an amazing experience. But TLOU was just such a memorable and impactful gaming experience. It completely sucked me in and was just amazing in an overall "wow this is awesome" sort of way.

I voted for The Last of Us as well. I don't think a game has stuck around with me this long after finishing it before. One of the few games I can say that actually had any emotional impact on me.

The Last of Us for me, as well. Mature, character-driven storytelling in games was long overdue, and the gold standard has now been set.

I voted The Last of Us, but honestly could easily pick between probably six other games that I enjoyed just as much (Tomb Raider, Fire Emblem, BioShock, GTA V, Zelda, and Mario 3D World). 2013 was a really good year for gaming.

Depends on what we're gauging here. Story? The Last of Us. Gameplay? Tomb Raider. Both are solid in each of those areas, though.
Vote goes to The Last of Us, based on which one I'd sooner replay. Tomb Raider's a very close second. Arkham Origins and Blood Dragon aren't far behind. |

After playing Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, I have to agree with all the journalists and publications putting it on their top 10 lists. It's a lovely treasure of a game.

The Last of Us was also #1 on Giant Bomb's list. Their top 10 was missing a lot big games though (GTA5, Tomb Raider, Mario 3D world), but listening to them argue about it for hours though was pretty entertaining.

I agree. I saw that coming. I was surprised that Mario didn't make it. I thought that was a huge oversight. I was also amused with all the love for DOTA 2. I know its supposed to be good, but it still seems so niche.

Not sure that MOBA games are niche anymore, DOTA2 is by far the most played game on Steam and League of Legends is one of the biggest in the world.
