Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

I think a lot are wanting to see what The Survival Mode will be. I know when they mentioned the three DLC packs and some were hoping for some sort of "Horde"....a.k.a Gears of War...they said no but it would be something different. There is so much that can be done with this and the possible types of play...yea, we've had mixed results in The Dark Zone.

So after you hit level 30...is it better to grind the DZ for DZ rank or doing going for PHZ credits in Daily missions?

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

I would grind DZ ranks and knock out the dailies for PHZ credits.

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

If all it is is some kind of Horde mode, I'm out. Well, I'm kind of out already because Dark Souls 3 also comes out on the 12th and it takes priority, but I don't know if I'll come back anytime soon for Horde mode. Maybe we'll see what the update 2 has to offer.

I feel like after 30 your best bet is to grind for Phx credits rather than mess with the DZ, but that's just my opinion. Every day you get the daily missions that reward Phx credits, plus you can play other missions on Challenging difficulty for additional credits (correct?). There's too many people in the DZ at this point who only play the game to grief others that it's just not fun to go in there unless you're one of them. The reward isn't that great.

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

I would just do the daily missions and maybe replay the missions on hard. Stay away from the dark zone unless you have a good group to go in. The rewards are shit. One of the best guns in the game can be crafted after buying the plans for about 153 credits..which can be had in one day of daily missions and a few challenging missions.

Playing the game with randoms is a nightmare though. You just don't know what you are going to get. When you play a mission on hard it is no big deal because even if your team is shit, you can solo it if you have average gear. On challenging though you need everyone on the team working together. Searching for a group and loading up into that group can take about 3 minutes. When you get in and discover your group sucks, you back out and search again. It can take 15-30 minutes to find a good team and that sucks.

Right now I am trying to find a balance between dps/life/skill points. I am sitting around 134,000 dps on my guns, 70,000 life and 13,000 skill points....I still have two purple items left on my character, so once I get all yellow items I will move on to maximizing each item..of course that could all mean shit in a few days when the patch brings set items....

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

Also for my weapon, I am using the high-end Vector 45 ACP...which is what I was talking about for my 153 phoenix credits. The thing is a beast up close. While my dps says 134,000 the game does not figure crit damage fairly and so it is really doing a lot more. It melts level 32 elites up close. It sucks beyond 30 meters though. So I was using a marksman rifle, but I decided to try a lmg...people seem to be shitting on them because they have lower dps than a smg..but the range is really good on them.

I bought the pakhan from the special weapons vendor for 480,000 credits. This thing is just as good as the vector and I have no idea why people hate on it. With a good clip it has a 90 round clip. My dps is about the same as the vector (though obviously it has less crit chance)..but I can hold the trigger down for large groups and the range is at least twice as much as my smg...and with a 15X scope on it is can even act like a sniper. I stack stability mods because it kicks like a mule for the first 10 rounds, but taking the skill that lowers recoil for 10 seconds after taking cover turns it into a lazer (seriously that skill is amazing just pop in and out of cover every 10 seconds and it is always up)

If you have enough regular credits buy it. You will be surprised (it also has huge bonus damage to elite enemies and armor which helps melt level 32 enemies..to the point that it actually seems to do more damage even up close while the yellow enemy still has his white armor bar up..vs my vector)

What is the best way to spend currency in the game? I'm still at a fairly low level, so should I be saving it for anything big? Or just pick up some upgraded weapons here and there?

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

So how does this DPS shit work when you're buying weapons?? I mean, I know for the most part you don't have to buy anything in this game but I remember looking for a new gun at the base of operations and the one I had selected at the store showed my DPS increasing by a lot for weapons and health - so I bought it, then equipped it, and it showed my DPS in the red??? Why?

beckham 04-06-16 09:08 AM

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

I think startin out you find the best stuff just by collecting in combat vs spending at vendors

As far as end game...I am trying to get as much PHZ credits as I can (I definitely was eye balling that Vector mod), but I am also grinding in the DZ too...seems like there is a lot I can't buy without a dz level 30; I'm at 20.

I'm actually just grinding solo staying away from rogues and trying to level up PvE I'm DZ 1-2. I find that until I get to level 30 there it's better not to even pick up anything so I don't have much to lose. I've got an assault rifle up to ~7k dps so I m also staying away from level 31/32 though.

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

Also, does anyone do challenge mode on levels without having yellow on all gear? Or for that matter can it be done solo? I went with a match made team and it quickly disbanded after we got basically one or two shot.

csant 04-06-16 11:09 AM

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

you really shouldn't do challenge mode unless you are geared for it. You will not survive getting hit or killing anything. Its extremely hard to carry under geared people in challenge mode...

Don't let the DZ discourage you guys from venturing and having fun in there. If you want you can get a group to grind out levels (you can get the best craft able stuff in there). Plus, Im sorry there is NOTHING like calling for an extraction and wondering if your going to be able to extract or get ganked, feeling. lol

I've yet to get ganked while extracting (30/30 only). But hunting rogues is HELLA fun too.

beckham 04-06-16 11:50 AM

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

What would you say is equipped enough? Do you have to be all yellow and not even a purple? It's not like they give min requirements like before level 30.

csant 04-06-16 11:58 AM

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

you can be in purple but it wont be easy if everyone else is in purple too. Just will take your team a while to complete the mission. I actually enjoy how hard they are...

PS. Always target the shotgun guys first... focus those fuckers down asap. lol

Dumb question but only because I haven't played much in the DZ.....does the XP you gain in the DZ level you up outside the DZ as well?

The DZ level is separate from the regular zone level. DZ level goes up to 99 whereas the regular zone level caps at 30.

Thanks - can you use any gear you get in the DZ outside of it?

Any gear you get in the DZ has to first be extracted. Then you can use it in the regular zone.

Got my platinum trophy...amazing game...

I don't see any long term hooks, but not every game needs to be played 1000 hours. This game will end up taking probably 150 hours of my life and I enjoyed it. It will not hold my attention long enough to buy dlc though....

Played the mission last night where you are in the mall trying to find the infected bills and the huge Christmas tree is on fire and the cleaners are torching everything trying to kill you and I'm rolling from kiosk to kiosk, tossing out my turret and trying to stay alive...this game is sooooo awesome.

I still have a ways to go, but hopefully some people from here would be up for scheduling some times for running the raid & dark zone from time to time.

Congrads Fox...job well done;)

Matty...which platform are you on? Me and my friend are on PS4. We're level 22 & 23 and are about to do the far lower left mission Southeast near a pier I think...Study something. But if you need some company (providing PS4) I might be up to help or back up.

I'm on PS4. I still need to go to the Daggers page and add some of the folks from there.

Re: The Division -- Xbox One/PS4 -- March 8th, 2016

I hate to admit but I recently found a love for the Vector 45. I had always looked at the range and I tend to be more medium to distance player. My co-op friend turned me on to it and said give it a try and you'll like it. It's part of my "3 gun rotation" with a Assault Rifle as main switching between a SOCOM Sniper and the Vector 45. They're just Blue but I have been amazed the distance feels better than listed. I got a decent Blue small SMG I plan to try and compare but yea, the Vector 45 is darn good. I hope they don't nerf it especially the range

The rewards in the Dark Zone aren't shit. They're better than what you're going to find throughout the normal game, at least that's been my experience. Greater risk, greater reward. Whenever I need to gear up, that's what I do... I hit the dark zone with a group, and after a couple of hours of having fun, I have pretty much whatever I need.
