I think you're getting confused. They already released the wired drivers for the Xbox One Controller for PC last fall, which work in Windows 7 & 8:
http://news.xbox.com/2014/09/xbox-on...er-for-windows All you have to do is connect the Xbox One controller to the PC via a micro-USB cable, and the drivers automatically download and install. At the time, they hadn't announced a wireless receiver for the PC for the Xbox One controller though: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/mee.../1100-6422386/ This is the first official announcement of a wireless receiver for the controller. I was already well aware that you could use the Xbox One controller wired on the PC. edit: Found it, back in March, so not as long ago as I thought initially, and all the said at the time was "later this year". http://www.theverge.com/2015/3/4/814...er-for-windows |
Re: PC Gaming Thread
I have the wireless adapter for the 360 and don't really feel the need to switch to XBox One controllers. At this rate, i'll probably keep using it until it or all my controllers die.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
Bought an Nvidia Reference GTX 970 today from Best Buy to replace a 770 that was having all sorts of issues (teaches me for buying a refurb). Was trying to hold out and just deal with it, but caved in since I happened to have a 10% off mover's coupon. Kind of dig the reference cooler on this thing.
For all the issues Batman has on PC, it runs pretty solid at 2560x1440 for me with the new card. Plus it preps me for Fallout 4 and probably Battlefront later this year. Anyone want to buy the additional digital code that they gave me for Arkham Knight since I already own it? :p |
Re: PC Gaming Thread
Ooooh freebie! Haha, I'm sure somebody will take that soon (I would but I won't get around to AK for a long while yet.)
|
Re: PC Gaming Thread
I didn't say free :p I can probably get $20-25 off ebay for it looking at current prices.

Looks like Good Old Games made a deal with Bethesda, so Fallout games are back on that service DRM free.

I think this is PC only for now, so posting here. Cliff Bleszinski (of Gears of War fame) announced his new free to play shooter LawBreakers.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
Glad you posted that from Cliffy B......looks interesting and I see a bit of Unreal Tournament in it. Like to hear more and glad he made reference to the fact it "could go to console if....."
It was sad though to see on other forums some were just ripping Cliffy B. as unimaginative, money hungry and not caring while calling what he has done like Gears of War basically a lame boring game. I'm personally glad he's back even though this is PC only.....for now. |

Re: PC Gaming Thread
Anyone ever use an Alienware Alpha? I never heard of it, but a Gamespot article about the new Alienware Steam Machine mentioned it. They said the new upcoming Steam Machine is nearly identical to the older Alpha, except that the Alpha uses Windows instead of SteamOS. I looked on Amazon, and the Alpha base model is only $400. That seems like a decent deal for a low end gaming PC. I would prefer Windows over SteamOS too, so I don't see any real reason to go with the newer Steam Machine if it has the same internal parts.

It's also advertised as "Steam Machine Ready" so you could install SteamOS onto it, maybe in a dual boot situation. The main appeal is the compact, "console" size of it. If you're looking for a gaming PC to hook up to your TV in the living room, it may be a good fit. Otherwise, you can get a better value in terms of specs from a larger desktop machine, and it'll be more easily upgradable. http://www.cnet.com/products/alienware-alpha/ http://www.pcworld.com/article/28508...omplement.html http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/12/a...-alpha-review/ |

System Shock: Enhanced Edition is currently on sale for $7.99 on Steam. Didn't even know this was a thing, but evidently it came out a month ago.
Now with 10x7 resolution support! And mouselook, which is an even bigger deal. I remember this game being a huge PITA to play. http://store.steampowered.com/app/410710/ |

Takes some getting used to with each character. Easiest for me was Pharah since she's your basic rocket launcher prototype character. Or maybe Soldier 76 with a basic machine gun.
For a good time, add Noodles#1876 :p |
Re: PC Gaming Thread
Debated putting this in the Game Deals thread, but that one seems more console centric. Steam is currently running a Halloween Sale on select titles through the 2nd.
http://store.steampowered.com/search...mhalloweensale The link lists 50 or so titles, but a lot more are on sale than that. I've got a few on my wishlist that are on sale, but aren't shown, so there may be some hidden deals out there. |

"remaster" of Turok released this week. (More a Port than a Remaster, imho)

Re: PC Gaming Thread
I purchased Undertale during the Steam sale because of all the GOTY recognition it seems to be getting. Feels slow at the start so far though, I hope it picks up. The introduction area isn't doing much for me.
|
Re: PC Gaming Thread
I'm usually hesitant with most "smaller" GOTY choices. I dunno why, but I know Journey was in a similar position a few years ago and that game puts me to sleep.
|
Re: PC Gaming Thread
I heard it starts out slow, so maybe that's all it is. I really want to play it, but with such an insane backlog, there's just no point right now. I think I have like 10 games I'm currently "playing", but I definitely don't have time for that.

Bought a ton of games this year, but with bundles and cheap games, I probably spent maybe $400 total. |

I havent played it but my kids love it. they're constantly quoting characters from the game. The thing is, they've never played it! they've only watched other people play it on youtube or twitch. I asked my oldest daughter if she wanted to the play the game and she was like "meh, i've already seen all the endings."

Re: PC Gaming Thread
I guess there are paths, that if you take, can alter future replays. Like if you play through using evil choices, then on replay you wont have the same opportunities to play through as pure good. At least i think thats what my daughter was telling me one time when I was trying to listen to a basketball game while driving.

Final Fantasy IX is coming to PC. This is one of my favorite FF games behind 6 and 7, and I always thought it was very underrated. Excited to play it again. :)

Re: PC Gaming Thread
Yep, I can't wait. I hope it's a good port and not ported from mobile first and then to PC like FFVI. I never actually beat FFIX, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
I wonder why they skipped over VIII? Maybe that's the more popular over IX and they're saving that one for last of ports? Especially since there was a PC version of VIII back when it first released.
