Re: PC Gaming Thread

Bioware said the GUI team was too busy to add controller support. It doesn't really make any sense, but that's the line they gave.

Combine that with the Assassin's Creed team saying they were too busy to add female characters, and this looks like the year of project mismanagement.

The Bioware comment is from 2007, so it's the decade of project mismanagement.

i found that out the hard way when I purchased ME2 on PC. I use mouse and keyboard for my dungeon crawlers and MMOs, but I need a controller for any game with any fast action.

Fortunately, all the ME games allow you to pause the action and issue commands. It's the same gameplay mechanic as the Dragon Age games.

The Gog bundles and flash deals are very attractive today.

I thought about mentioning a few, but the flash deals are about 18 at a time and constantly rotating, with many major franchises bundled today. It's the usual GOG suspects like Ultima, Might and Magic, Sam and Max, Far Cry, etc; with more recent indie games like Vvvvv than I expected.

The Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 1TB SSD is currently $399.99 at Amazon. Seriously considering pulling the trigger at that price.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

Wow, so I finally got my computer cleaned, and the difference is ridiculous. This thing performs like new again. Before, CS:GO on med/high settings was literally overheating this thing to blue screen, now back on ultra with max AA and everything, GPUs barely hit 70 degrees. Assassin's Creed max everything 2x MSAA, under 99% load cards were sitting at low/mid 70s. No more stuttering and graphical hangups/glitches. Awesome! The guy said all the fans were pretty clogged.

I'm probably going to play the hell out of this. For a couple hours. $19.99.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

Looks fun but might as well play Diablo III instead.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

PC version of Diablo III still doesn't have controller support or same screen multiplayer. Plus the utter simplicity of Gauntlet is part of its charm.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

For those of you who do a lot of PC gaming, do you prefer to game with your PC connected to your TV or do you like the desk/monitor combo better?

And for those who prefer a monitor, what's a good one you'd recommend that's not horrendously expensive?

That's what I do now, and I find it terribly inconvenient. Because I'm on my couch, I don't have anywhere to put my mouse except my coffee table, which means I now have to hunch forward or sit on the edge of my couch instead of sitting back on it like I can with a console.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

It took me awhile to get used to it. I'm on a recliner and keep the mouse with an arm supported pad on the arm of the chair and Keyboard on my lap.

Yep. This is the way to do it. I use a Xbox 360 controller as well for some games.

I just put my mouse on the sofa next to me, no complaints. Maybe it's because I always game reclined back (I game in comfort!).

You don't find the mouse has problems tracking? Are you on a leather sofa or a cloth one? I could see that working on a leather sofa.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

There are mice that should work on most surfaces, including a couch. I know the laser in my Logitech Anywhere MX will work just fine on a couch surface.

That said, I prefer being at my desk with most of the games I like on PC being with the mouse and keyboard. It's more comfortable for me, and I have a 2560x1440 27" monitor which is nice to play on. I have an HP ZR2740W, but that's not really a "gaming" monitor.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

I don't want to feel like I'm at work when I'm gaming so I game on my projector, on my couch, and I use a 360 controller for most games (RTS and Competitive online shooters pretty much require kb+m).
