For those of you that shop at Kroger, they have a digital coupon for today only to save $6 on xbox multipack cards. Not great, but a little something for those wanting to save on building up their credit.

Before Xbox One Backward Compatibility team takes some time off for holidays, we have 6 new releases today. Releases resume after New Year

Skydive, Planets Under Attack and CLANNAD (Japan Only) are coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today http://mjr.mn/BackCompat

Bully Scholarship Ed., Catherine and Raskulls are coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today http://mjr.mn/BackCompat

Catherine and Bully seem like pretty nice releases. I never played Bully, might be something I grab next time it's on sale.
I have Catherine. I remember playing the demo when it first came out. I'll have to give it a shot.

With titles like that getting BC, it feels like Deadly Premonition is close... so so close... yet so far. Just think... L&O might actually play it then!

I was looking at the stats, and while they've made 300 games backwards compatible in a a little over a year (going from the official launch last November), only about 100 of those were games that were released on disc, the majority (200) were XBLA games.

Wikipedia lists 1,182 Xbox 360 disc games:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_games

Also 719 XBLA games:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...e_Arcade_games

Now, there's some overlap between the two (Zuma's Revenge is listed on both pages), and some already have XBox One versions, and others like annual sports titles are unlikely to be made BC, while finally others may have licensing issues. However, assuming maybe 1500 viable titles, that's 1200 left, and at the rate of 300/year it'll be 4 more years before everything's available.

Anyone receive their $10 discounts yet? It seems like a lot of people haven't. It's been over 24 hours and I haven't.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

So yesterday I turned on my XBox 360. Hadn't turned it on in a few months. It downloaded some new system software and after it re-started, the infamous Red Ring of Death made an appearance.

Just to give you an idea, I purchased this 360 back in 2009, so it is quite old.

I turned it off and turned it back on and then it loaded up okay and I was able to play a little. Age-wise and with the RROD making an appearance, is my 360 probably on it's last legs? Do you all think it's time to retire it and maybe go to the XBox One S?

I think if I trade the machine in to Gamestop, I'll be able to collect $15 not including the controllers and my 15-20 games that I have.

I'm kind of interested in the XBox One S because I heard it can play UHDs and has 4K streaming capabilties. Not that I plan to go full out on that. I just got a new 4K Smart TV during Black Friday week. It would suck to have to retire all those games that I have though. I know some of them are backwards compatible.

Do it. It's leagues better. Wait, did you Xbox One? If not then definitely, even still it's worth it and will play all ur 360 games eventually...

Here's the list of Backwards Compatible games:
https://majornelson.com/blog/xbox-on...compatibility/

If you have any of these, keep 'em. They're adding more and more each month, but who knows if/when they'll get around to all of them. It seems unlikely.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

So I have roughly 10 360 games that are compatible on the XBox One

So if I traded away the remaining 40 games to Gamestop, plus the 360 console on the verge of death and my extra controller and accessories, I can get roughly between $160 and 170

I currently have about $33 in GC credits from some extra games I dumped a few weeks ago.

Grand total I would have roughly between $190 to 200 to put towards an XBox One S

So do you all think I should do this and dump the 360 and the remaining 40 360 games? I know pretty soon this console will be a giant paper weight.

You can trade in 360 console and 360 games to GS? How much for an in good shape Xbox 360?

There is absolutely NO guarantee of this.
In fact, it's practically guaranteed that the Xbox One won't ever play all 360 games. The biggest factor is licensing, and some games are practically impossible to license on the XB1. The most extreme examples are the Silicon Knights games Too Human and X-Men: Destiny, which were both recalled due to copyright infringement of the Unreal Engine.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silico...vs._Epic_Games
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Too_Hu...Engine_dispute

There are other games tied to licensed properties (comic books, sports leagues, movies, etc.) where the license to use the property has expired, and thus the ability to license the game for BC doesn't exist.

And then there are games possibly tied up in a legal limbo with developers/publishers that have gone out of business and/or sold to other entities. This can get even more complicated with partnerships between companies, where there may be a disagreement on who actually owns what and has the ability to license it for BC.

Finally, there are games that might not be licensed due to the developer/publisher not wanting it on BC. For example, we're unlikely to see Halo 1-4 & ODST on BC, since Microsoft wants XB1 users to buy/play the Master Chief Collection instead.

However, based on the info available, there likely isn't any technological reason why a game can't appear on BC, so there's hope for a lot of titles.

Yes they still take 360 games.

I think a console runs between $20-40 depending on what generation it is.

You can look up the values on the website.

Yes, no reason to hold onto the fossil. You won't even miss the 40 stray games as you'll have plenty to do with your BCs plus current-gen games.

Wouldn't you be better off selling the 360 + Games + Accessories as a bundle on Craig's List?

I was under the impression that Gamestop had crappy trade-in values.

I'm in the same boat. I've got a 360, extra controller, Kinect, battery charge kit, chatpad, Turtle Beach headset, and around 30 games. I planned to do Craig's List. But if Gamestop will give a reasonable price, it might be worth doing. I'm sure it's easier. CL can be a hassle.

DJariya, to answer your original question, you should upgrade to the Xbox One S (I love mine). And do it now. I keep reading articles that say the Xbox sales won't be around after Christmas. Right now you can find Xbox One S bundles around $50-$100 off. After the holidays, they're expected to go back to regular price.

Yes Craigslist or EBay won't work for me. Huge hassle.

I'm aware of the $50 off sale on the XBox One S right now, so that's why I'm hoping to snag one before it passes by. Also I think GameStop is also throwing in a $30 GC if you buy one of those bundles.

I plan on saving any 360 games that I might play. Even if they're not currently BC. You never know if they might add them to the BC list in the future.

The trade/resale value is awful. Average price seems to be around $2 each.

The best GS trade-in price I saw was COD: World at War for $7. A couple of the other COD games will get you $4-$5. COD: Ghosts is worth $0.50, and MW3 is $0.75.

Best Buy is worse

I can get $16.50 for Ghostbusters on the 360, which I have. Best Buy is 25 cents.

Yeah, the only thing I would say is the hold on to any 360 games you feel like you might play again in case they get added to the backwards compatibility list.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

So just an update about this.

I ended up trading the 40-something games along with my XBox 360 today. Got roughly $170+ in trade and I had roughly $33+ left in trade from a transaction I did a few weeks ago. Saved about 12 360 games that are backwards compatible (with a couple I hope will) So I had $200 and change for trade.

Ended up getting the 500GB Gears of War 4 Unit. Ended up paying $55 out of pocket. Plus Gamestop threw in a $30 GC as well. I think this GC promotion is multiple stores. I know Best Buy has it and the Microsoft store has the GC promotion as well.

I also purchased a 1TB external drive from Amazon for about $55 and attached it with no troubles.

So far, so good. However, my set up is kind of weird. I have the XBox One S going into a 4 port HDMI switch. I bought a 4K HDMI cable and plugged it into the switch. There is a 4K HDMI cable coming out of it into my TV. The Unit did detect my 4K TV, however it was not able to make the video switch to 4K. I'm guessing this is because the Switch is not 4K compatible (I believe it's only 1080p as I bought it from Radio Shack a few years ago) and I would have to plug in the 4K HDMI cable directly into the TV??

So I got an error message and the 4K switchover was aborted. I currently have it on 1080p.

I did order an allegedly 4K compatible 3-port HDMI switch from Amazon and that's coming on Wednesday.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It was relatively cheap at $25

Overall, I think I'm content dumping the 360 unit and all those games. Time to move on and I wasn't playing those games and the unit appeared to be on it's last legs.
