ESPN posted a 25th anniversary of NBA Jam article, and:

Electronic Arts (EA) Sports rebooted the franchise in 2010 and still has the rights, but Kitzrow is working with Microsoft to possibly get the game resurrected for the 25th anniversary.

Re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

I'm only a casual gamer and am a cheap bastard, so I'm looking to not pay for individual games.

I have EA Access for the year and it's good. There's a few decent games on XBOX Game Pass - but I only have a 1 month trial. $120 a year is a bit rich for me (for the amount I play).

Are there any other services like those? I noticed there are games that aren't available on either of those 2 services, so I'm wondering if they're available elsewhere - or if it's simply that you have to buy the actual physical game.

There's services that will rent you a physical disc, like Gamefly:

No other real services like Gamepass or EA's service, but there are some F2P games on Xbox One. List here: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/free-to-play

Have you checked your local library? That is how I rent tons of games every year.

Game Access Canada

You can rent 1 game/month (casual gamer) at $10 CAD.

They will send you a physical copy of the game. When you're done, you dump it back in the mail. 4 weeks to play 1 game at a time seems like a decent deal for only a casual gamer. You don't have to commit the $60 for a game to own that you may not like or not have time to play enough.

If you're not doing it already, I'd sign up for Bing rewards. It's easy to do a bunch of searches on a computer and on mobile to get points, and you can use those points towards Xbox credit or directly for a Game Pass subscription. A nice way for some "free" credit towards gaming.

Re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

I forgot I posted this question yesterday.

Thanks for all the info. I haven't checked my library, and I'm not sure renting will work for me because I'll jump from game to game so often - I won't be able to get a lot of use on any one individual game on any given month. Would almost be cheaper to buy the game instead of renting it for a few months. Like I said - I'm a casual gamer.

I saw that they released a 4K patch for Forza Horizon 3 and it looks amazing, but I noticed that none of the Forza games are even on Game Pass. I checked Amazon and the game is still $55 CAD. Kind of ridiculous that it's not on Game Pass and still at that high price when the game is almost 1.5 years old.

I'll check out the Bing rewards to see how what you can earn and how much work it takes.

You can probably find digital codes for FH3 pretty cheap since it was a part of the XB1S bundles.

The game has been on sale for under $30 (US...not sure about Canada) though, especially recently during the holidays. That said, it's a popular and well received franchise, so it's not surprising that sort of game wouldn't be added for "free" on Game Pass or discounted more. Microsoft is only going to add games that aren't selling any more to that service.

That said, I know Forza 5 was free on Games with Gold a few months ago. Although i'm guessing you probably don't subscribe because of the cost

Not that I mind, but Earth Defense Force 2017 wasn't part of the announcement I don't think.

Also for others, Far Cry 2 and Sniper Elite V2 are also available on disc in additional to Digital purchases. In fact, Far Cry 2 is on sale this week digitally at only $5.99.

Driver: SF has been on my backlog forever, so I'm super happy about this announcement.

According to Wikipedia, Earth Defense Force 2017 was made BC on November 30, 2017:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...s_for_Xbox_One

A few places reported on it back then:
https://www.windowscentral.com/sonic...-compatibility
https://www.destructoid.com/earth-de...e-475509.phtml

I was thinking that it'd make sense to try and get that game released while it was still 2017.

Yeah, I copied from Major Nelson's site, must have have thought that was indicated NEW (or it was at the time), but now it indicates 11/30/2017.

Well, 11/30/2017 was the last time any BC titles were released, so they must've added the new titles without first changing all the previous listings from NEW to 11/30/2017.

All the free GwG 360 titles in the past few months were made BC prior to 11/30/2017.

Regarding Driver San Francisco, it's not available for digital purchase right now, but existing digital owners can download it. Otherwise, you'll need to buy a disc copy.

Just a rumor for now, but would be pretty cool if true. This would make a big splash at E3.

Report: There’s a new Fable game in the making

Microsoft has tapped Playground Games, makers of Forza Horizon

This lines up with some rumors that were posted a week or so ago with a variety of things Microsoft is working on, including a new Perfect Dark and Forza Horizon 4 in Japan.

https://www.xboxachievements.com/new...---Report.html

In that article, it mentions Playground working on Fable and they had previously been known to begin work on a open world RPG too.

I barely remember it. Was a cool FPS with cutting edge graphics back in the day but I'm sure it looks pretty bad 15 years later. But since I have EA Access anyways I will check it out.

It's pretty cool to see original Xbox backwards compatibile games come to EA Access.
