Is it me, or is the Xbox One really setup unfriendly? I have never had to tweek so many settings in order to get things running before or work around apparent glitches involving HDMI. From finding why the display was slightly cropped to getting surround sound to work, I never had such problems with my 360.

Mine was plug and play, but it supports a lot of things which unfortunately means occasionally, things need to be setup differently.

I never had to do anything special when setting up mine, both display or surround sound wise.

Also it does 3D... Ps4 can't say that.

I don't know what you're referring to. The PS4 does games in 3D (not many though - Zen Pinbal 2 and the two Trine games are the only ones I can think of at the moment. It can also play 3D Blu Rays.

It is.

Something i asked about a long time ago is finally possible. I got a new Lunar White controller last night, connected it to the system and it did an OTA controller upgrade. Kick ass. No need for the wire, and no need for outdated controller firmware.

Really? I had to update my Forza 6 controller with a wire just a couple of days ago. Maybe I didn't have to but just didn't realize that I could do it OTA.

Yeah, it popped up a notice saying it needed to be updated once it made the initial connection, so I grumbled, grabbed the wire then noticed it said "Keep the controller close to your xbox, and powered on." So I hit A, and it updated. Didn't check the old controller yet though.

edit: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-...eadset-adapter Looks like all new controllers that are sporting the 3.5mm headphone jack support wireless updates.

I think I liked the Dashboard better before the update. The new version isn't terrible but I feel like the old one had a better flow to it.

So I just picked up an Xbox One today, and have a quick question. I have the controller that has a 3.5mm input, and I want to use my Beats Solo 2s with the mic in the cord to chat over Xbox Live. Is this possible?

For blu-rays, the PS4 got the ability in July of 2014, the Xbox One got it in August of 2014. Both support 3D gaming, but I don't think there are many titles for either platform at this point in time.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Two days after updating, why did both my controllers stop working? They won't connect either wired or wirelessly, one with a battery pack and one with rechargeables. I've restarted and unplugged the console to no avail. The only reason I can navigate at all is using my media remote , and I can't even try updating the controller because it tells me nothing is attached even when it's plugged in.

That happened to me a few days ago. It eventually started working again after a few restarts, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

That happened to me too (last week I believe) but it was before the update. I had to completely shut down the console and re-sync the controller. Its worked fine since though.

^ Yeah, I had to re-sync one of my controllers and the "sync" buttons on the controller/console weren't working. I had to plug it into the console. Once it connected, I could disconnect the cable and it worked fine. Strange behavior, to be sure.

I had a similar issue with my Xbox One following the update. At first I thought my dog constantly turning on and shutting off my Xbox One did something (perfect height to her nose, and she likes the sound and light).

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Thanks for all the info. I tried re-syncing, but it didn't take. I unplugged the console again, and when I tried re-syncing again, the console started flashing in sync mode (pretty sure I didn't see that before) and I was able to pair both controllers. I figured I might as well try to update the controllers in case that would help in the future, but it told me no controller was attached even though it was hooked up via USB. So I decided to leave well enough alone and just use the controllers as is. Still better than my media remote.

This is happening with my 360 - suddenly neither of my controllers are syncing.

I can turn on the system with it, but that's it. I haven't tried wiring it in yet.

So are we to understand that the deals we Gold members get early access to on 11/20 are the same that will be on "Black Friday" on 11/27?

I don't want to buy something on Friday just to see it's even cheaper the next Friday.

Glad I just got $100 in credit for $85! Maybe I shoulda doubled-down...

I think the entire sale starts on the 24th. Gold members just get access to it on the 20th.
