Looks like Sam's Club has Xbox One S w/ extra controller and either Minecraft or Battlefield for $249 on BF. Appears there should be some good deals.

Mass Effect 2 and 3 are now backwards-compatible. Disc(s) only.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

I'm thinking of getting an Xbox One during the holiday sales. I've been out of the loop this gen. Haven't paid much attention to games in the past 2 years. I'm leaning towards an Xbox instead of the PS4, since I prefer the Xbox-exclusive games.

Anyways, I'll have a couple stupid questions. And I'd appreciate any insight.

My first question is, will I be fine getting the 500GB model and eventually adding an external HD? Or should I start off with a 1TB model? I'd prefer to save the $50 and buy another game. But if there's a reason for getting the 1TB model instead, please let me know.

None whatsoever. 500 GB is comically small, but 1TB isn't much better. Unlike a PS4 where the swapping of a HDD is kind of a production, on an Xbox One, it's just plugging in an external HDD and you're good. Get the 500 GB internal drive and then buy a 2TB external when you find one on sale.

Agreed, especially since you can buy a 1 TB portable drive for around the $50 mark too.

Dave, this has not been confirmed, but supposedly Walmart will sell 2 TB Western Digital external hard drives for $69 on Black Friday. Hopefully this helps.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Another stupid question. What's the best way to hook-up the Xbox One?

Right now I have all my devices (Cable box, Roku, Apple TV, etc) connect to the Receiver (each with their own HDMI input). Then run one HDMI wire from the Receiver to the TV.

I was planning to do the same with the Xbox One (connect it directly to the Receiver). But I've heard it has some interactive TV features. Are those features worth using?

If you're okay with your Xbox One being on everytime your want to watch TV (I am, personally, okay with it -- it's a computer ffs) then you'd

run your Cable Box HDMI -> Xbox One HDMI Input, and then your Xbox One HDMI Output -> Receiver.

I tried the tv feature when I first hooked up. Didn't like it as much as just regular cable interface. The One wasn't as responsive or intuiative...

I like having my TV running through the Xbox One, but agree that letting the Xbox One control your Cable Box doesn't work good enough.

Yeah, I don't bother running TV through my XBox One. Everything just goes to the receiver.
