Thanks Decker! It expires 6/1/15. I don't really play my Xbox anymore nor have a Windows phone. What other items can I buy with it? Can I use it in the Microsoft online store?

Really? Any time I try to buy anything via the Smartglass app it just gives me a link that says "Open on Xbox One". I've never been able to buy a single thing or start a download via the app.

Yeah, you can't buy stuff with the Smart Glass app, at least not remotely from your XO. It just tries to connect to your XO when you click on the Get on Xbox One button.

I think you guys are doing it wrong.

Open the SmartGlass app (assuming on your phone, not tablet or whatever)
On the top-left, click on the menu button (three horizontal lines)
From that menu, click on Store
Find a game or add-on (in my case, I tried for a Star Wars pinball pack)
Select "Buy $X.XX"
Here's where you have to add your credit card. Doesn't seem to let you use your MS wallet.

If you only select "Store" from the main menu in SmartGlass, it thinks you're trying to open it on your xbox, so it won't actually show you the games you can buy or whatever. If a game only shows "Play on XBox One" and doesn't show the price, it's actually unavailable (some games appear before they're available to buy) or a game you already own.

On the Android app, I don't have the option of "Store" from Menu (My choices are : Home, Featured Friends, Achievements, Pins, Messages, Game Clips, OneGuide, Settings)

^Oh, okay. I'm thinking your app has not been updated yet. I'm running the Beta app, which gets updated about as frequently as the XO dashboard updates. The August SmartGlass app update will likely get pushed out in the next day or two, I imagine. That's gotta be it.

At least on the iPad I have no "Store" option in that menu. Only on the dashboard which like others said wants to run on the Xbox One.

Yeah. Y'all just need to be patient and wait for the update.

edit: Android version was updated today. If you don't see it on your phone, you may need to uninstall then reinstall or "check for updates" or whatever. iOS/WP app hasn't been updated yet. Soon. Beta versions of these apps should all be updated by now.

I think that you guys with points you don't know what to do with should just give them all away. Preferably to all of us here on the forums.

That's funny and all, but there isn't even a way to do that if we wanted to.

God dammit, and for some inane reason Xbox still doesn't allow prepurchasing games it seems like. Really Microsoft? So now I got over $100 of credit expiring soon, and nothing to spend it on. I might try contacting MS just to see if they can add another month or two of time, but I'm not optimistic.

Oh yeah, oops. I've been on the update for a while and didn't realize this was only fixed in the latest one.

EA Access means just 6 hours of early access to Madden 15, apparently.

That's in the September update, which is in beta testing now. Patience, young grasshopper.

Not at all surprising. I can't imagine anyone expected to play the game 24-hours a day for 5 days before launch... then again... OUTRAGE!!!

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

First try getting MS to extend the "promotional balance" expiration failed. They have escalated it (second time) to someone else that is supposed to email me. This really pisses me off. It goes back to when the decided to call the conversion from MS Points to a real currency a "promotional balance", which is absolute horseshit. I don't even see how this is legal, and if it is, it's still shady as fuck.

edit: And look what's coming "by October": http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/0...-october-2014/

Of course my balance will of expired by then.

I complained about this on this very forum about a year ago whenever the switch was made. I got a lot of "yeah but you have two years to spend it".

I'm sorry but fuck that. I spent my money on MS points that didn't have an expiration date at the time of purchase and post purchase they decide to give them an expiration date? Shady as fuck doesn't begin to describe it.

If you didn't redeem the points yet, you still can after that date, right? I know it doesn't help this situation, but I'm just wondering.

If you still have a points card to redeem, you can redeem it now, and it'll be redeemed as a dollar value with no expiration.

For those complaining about the expiration of previously redeemed points that were converted; look into your state's gift card laws. Some prohibit expiration of balances, and you may be able to get a response from MS by citing your state's laws.

Hey, The Golf Club comes to Xbox One tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's priced at $34.99 which seems awfully pricey for a digital-only game unless it has a ton of content or something.

We'll see, I mentioned it to them in my chat/email. Although I bet they can get out of it because technically the gift card was redeemed. I'm still questioning the actual legality of it.
