It's the same thing on the PS4. It only updates the most recently played titles. I want everything kept up to date.

I don't see the issue. Why should Sony foot the bandwidth bill to constantly push updates for everything on the off chance you boot up that game you haven't played in months? Especially when games can have multiple updates. Only updating recent titles makes sense, IMO.

Because I'm paying extra for Plus, where one of the touted features is automatic updates?

Nowhere does it say that it's only some things are updated. Automatic updates should mean automatic. However, if you want to call bandwidth into question, how about they tell me which ones have updates, and then I can have them download, without having to click through 60+ items to check each one to see if they're up to date.

I just got 2.01 pushed to my PS4.

My PS4 didn't tell me there was an update and it was ready to install when I turned it on, but when I checked under settings/update it was there ready to go.

RE: Dec/Jan PS+ releases
Great lineup. I'm not much of a fighting guy, but will definitely give Injustice a try. The January games are great too since I never grabbed the Infamous DLC. I did almost get Swapper through Steam at one point, but remember watching a WTF is? video that turned me off for some reason although free will earn it a download (plus Decker said it was FANTASTIC).

Keep your expectations in-check for Injustice. It really doesn't look current-gen at all. I had a lot of fun with First Light and would definitely recommend giving that a shot. (Too bad I own the games they're giving away now! :))

First Light is great. And the main character is MUCH more likable than the main character of Second Son. Injustice is alot of fun as well if you stay away from Superman & Aquaman.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I really didn't like Injustice. I felt like it was a huge step back from MK, but I did think the story was interesting.

Superman was great to play. Beat the campaign on hard easily, and I suck at fighting games.

FWIW...anyone having the broken "R2" trigger issue there are some sellers on mazon selling replacement triggers. They're all pretty much from China but I don't care...far cheaper than buying another controller which might have the same issue later on. Since I have two controllers I opted to get a (5) pair set for around $17.00. I tried the fix on one controller and it worked for awhile but the trigger is sticking again.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check and see if mine has come in. If so I might go ahead and use it for AC:Unity which I'm on the fence on since I'm getting Far Cry 4 but one close friend is waiting till end of the month on.

Mine came early yesterday morning, in a message on the PS4 from Sony as well as an email.

PS4 Exclusive Bloodborne Delayed By Almost Two Months

If you were eagerly waiting for Bloodborne, which was supposed to release on February 6th, there will be bad news in the morning paper.

Sony Computer Entertainment Entertainment announced that the game’s release has been delayed and the spiritual successor to the Souls series will now be released on March 24th in the US, March 25th in Europe, March 26th in Japan and March 28th in UK/Ireland.

Considering that February was already a rather crowded period, it might not be such a bad thing, after all. And as the old adage attributed to Shigeru Miyamoto says, “a delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.”

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/11/...couple-months/

Might not be a bad thing since for January and February we have .....

Jan - Dying Light
Feb - Evolve, The Order and the Witcher 3
March - Battlefield and Project Cars

Which one of these is the likeliest candidate to be delayed next? The only one I am truly looking forward to is Dying Light.

I hope not on Dying Light as being a fan and loved the "Left 4 Dead" series I'm really looking forward to this. The Order is the one I'm (and probably a lot of PS4 owners) watching the most. Landing Dying Light in Jan, The Order in Feb and Bloodborne in March would make a solid line up for the first quarter of next year.

A new kind of cable TV package: Sony's Vue

Cable TV without a cable box or an aggravating installation appointment is about to become a reality.

On Thursday, Sony announced an Internet cable service it calls Vue. It is accessible through Sony PlayStation consoles and mimics the kind of TV bundle that companies like Comcast (CCV) and Time Warner Cable (TWC) have traditionally sold in the United States.

A testing period will begin this month, and the service will become widely available in the first quarter of 2015.

Sony (SNE) describes Vue as a "cloud-based TV service." That means cable channels like Discovery, FX and MTV will be delivered via the Internet to subscribers' big-screen TVs. The PlayStation console will serve as the set-top-box.

Sony says Vue will have "the best content on TV." But it's missing some big names, including Disney-owned channels like ESPN and Time Warner-owned channels like CNN.

The bundle will have Fox's sports channels, like Fox Sports 1, but not Fox News. It'll have the CBS broadcast network in some cities, but not in others.

Sony is the first company to announce a launch plan for "cloud-based TV," but it probably will not be the last.

The concept of a bundle of cable channels purchased online just like Netflix may change how television is delivered in the years to come.

Related: would you sign up for "virtual cable?"

Dish Network (DISH) is working on a similar service. And traditional players like Comcast might feel compelled to start selling TV this way, too.

Right now cable companies like Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Charter only provide TV in the local markets where they have physical cables. Sony's Vue foreshadows a day when many companies could compete to sell TV bundles.

Think of it as BYOB, or "bring your own broadband" -- you'd still need a separate wired or wireless Internet subscription.

In a news release on Thursday, Sony said Vue "will be offered on a month-to-month basis without any penalty or customer service hassles for cancellation."

What Sony left out is how much Vue will cost. But it said the price would be "fair and competitive."

Fundamentally, the pitch for "cloud-based TV" isn't about saving money versus traditional cable TV, it's about gaining convenience.

"Vue reinvents the traditional viewing experience so your programming effortlessly finds you, enabling you to watch much more of what you want and search a lot less," the executive in charge of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Andrew House, said in a statement.

I would like cable that I didn't have to pay to rent their stupid boxes every month and for it to not be a guessing game as to what my bill will be on a monthly basis. I swear Cox pushes a few pennies of a difference in charges month to month on my bill and I am growing sick of it. However, the lack of ESPN makes this service avoidable for the time being.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Since I'm getting three new PS4 games next Tuesday (listed numerically - LittleBigPlanet 3, Far Cry 4, GTA V), and I was looking at about 100 GB free space total, I decided the time was right for a new, bigger HDD. Upgraded to a 2 TB drive (unfortunately, still 5400 RPM since I couldn't find a cheap 7200 model).
Since changing out the HDD wasn't at all difficult (as opposed to the screws-from-Hell used in the launch PS3 Phat), I guess I shouldn't complain. Still it was a hassle/pain in the ass when compared to the XO where you just plug in a tiny HDD in the USB port in the back, format and you're done. Here I've got a ton of stuff to re-download (though the Library tab on the PSN store is a nice addition to see what I already own). It won't let me re-download the game saves until the game is back on the new HDD, which seems like an odd thing.

Furthermore it occurred to me that if that robot "game" software is permanently installed into the system hardware as it apparently is, why not have some basic version of the Firmware on there as well allowing you to connect to the internet and download the latest version rather than force you to go find a USB drive and copy that Firmware update onto it before even starting up your PS4? Some on-board memory for game saves would have been nice as well.

I actually prefer the PS4 method, yeah it's an initial pain, but at least it looks nice and neat, and if I take it somewhere it's all self contained.

And I think 500GB is fine. With the "Library" system on PS4, I don't hesitate to delete stuff.

Re-downloading digital distro games is a pain for those of us that just buy and then eventually get around to playing. I'm not organized enough for 500gb to be enough.

 It took some work to break that digital hoarding habit but there's no reason to scroll through/keep a library of 50 games, 5 of which I'll actually play again.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Yup. At any given time, I have the potential to play one of maybe 3-4 big retail games and maybe 5-6 small digital games, and that's about all I keep around. I doubt I've gone over 250G at any given time.

The big difference for me is the "Library". On PS3, it was a chore to dig through my download history and wait for all the updates, but now all my games are right there with a download button...including a few that I'd like to be able to delete from the library (alphas and betas).
