I think Destiny will be better, of course.

Being multi-console (though strangely not on PC), that's a given since Titanfall is more one-dimensional. It's still very successful, given that Titanfall 2 (or whatever it's going to be called) looks to be on PS4 as well (and for my money has the best FPS mechanics in a very long time). Also, Destiny cost something like half a billion dollars, so which one will be more profitable is something we will have to wait and see.

Yeah, I bought Titanfall at launch despite being lukewarm toward the beta and regret that, I played it for several hours and wound up bored. The demo of Destiny seems to offer much more potential.

That $500m is intended to carry Destiny for the next 10 years granted it catches on. It's all just talk right now.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

We should probably move to the Destiny thread, but yeah, basically Destiny needs to be as a big as COD to be able to spend those $500M. Not saying that not being as big as COD is going to be failure, Halo did OK being second rate to COD.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

That's kind of inevitable given COD comes out with a new game ever year, when the Halo series couldn't be more different.

They are not going to make back that 500 mill on destiny alone...but the cost for dlc and future installments will be a lot less. Future games will probably have a budget under 100 million making it a very profitable franchise going forward.

Again though, it's $500m for the next 10 years. $500m isn't how much development and advertising is going to cost at launch, they expect it to be $500m by the time all the game content is out in 10 years (as well as all advertising in the span of the next decade).

actually now that I think about it, this game can end up being a 15-20 million seller...if that is the case, they may be profitable before the year is over. (and exceed their 10 year budget from the start)

Sony Agrees To $15 Million Payout, Free PS3 Games In PlayStation Breach Settlement

byRobert Westervelt on June 17, 2014, 5:48 pm EDT

Sony has agreed to pay $15 million to users of its services impacted by its massive 2011 data breach and nearly monthlong outage of its popular PlayStation Network and Qriocity music service in 2011.

Sony Computer Entertainment America indicated its support of the settlement in documents filed in U.S. District Court of Southern California on June 13. If the federal judge approves the terms, the settlement reached will put to rest 65 class action lawsuits that were filed against Sony following the breach. It would give U.S. residents who held PlayStation Network, Qriocity or Sony Online Entertainment accounts prior to May 15, 2011, eligibility to apply for losses associated with the breach.

Sony agreed to pay out a free PS3 or PSP game, three free PS3 themes or a free three-month subscription to PlayStation Plus. It also agreed to pay out account balances of $2 or more that had been inactive since the intrusions. Account holders of its Qriocity service who did not have a PlayStation Network account would be eligible for a free month of Music Unlimited from the service. Under the agreement, Sony Online Entertainment account holders would get a $4.50 credit................

A free PS3 or PSP game (do they even make PSP games anymore?), three free themes, OR a three month sub to PS Plus? At least they didn't just give everyone accessories for HOME or something. Geez.

Didn't everyone already get some free games in a PR move? Like I think I got Dead Nation and something else for PS3, Modnation Racing and LBP maybe for PSP, free month of PS+.

Yeah, there was a list of free stuff you could pick from as part of the "Welcome Back" Package when they came back online. I got almost everything that was available, because I have 2 accounts.

Guess that means I get 2 more freebies

Yes. Everyone already got two free games from a select list. I don't know why we needed any more compensation, but I'll take three more months of PS Plus if it's offered to me. Not that I'll need it until 2020 as it is

How about assholes not hacking in and costing these companies millions of dollars? I appreciate the free stuff that I got a few years ago but also think it sucks that people like this and creators of viruses are out there costing all of us our hard earned money.

Is it normal for the PS4 to get really warm when playing it?

I played 2 games last night of EA Sports UFC and the machine felt really hot at the top? Or is that just normal? I usually don't play no more than 1-2 hours tops, but I couldn't imagine how hot the PS4 would be staying on all day/night.

Maybe don't sit on it while playing it?

That's why I bought the extended warranty, though I haven't bothered touching it to see if it gets too hot.

Mine gets hot on the top as well.

Do you keep yours vertical or horizontal (I believe vertical runs slightly warmer since the vents on that side are covered)?
Is yours in a media cabinet?

Mine is horizontal and in a media cabinet. I keep the front door open while playing but it is enclosed on the 3 other sides. I'm in the process of cutting a large opening in the back of the cabinet (through that flimsy wood like crap) to increase ventilation. I also bought a USB powered cooling fan, looks like a CPU fan but comes with a stand, to help vent the heat out of the back once I finish cutting the opening. Hoping this will help.

I think I've turned a fellow 360 gamer who has asked me about keeping her informed on any "PS4 Deals". Is there a site that sort of gets all the gaming deals and offers together instead of looking up everything? I told her about the Destiny Bundle but it sounds like she is wanting to get in on the beta. Gamestop, Best Buy, walmart, Amazon...?

This may have changed but when first announced the only places giving out beta codes with pre-orders were Gamestop, Best Buy & Amazon. I'm not sure if that's changed but it's easy enough to just stick with one of those retailers.

I think I'm going to start suspending my PS4 in the air a la Hellraiser so that it gets maximum airflow.

That's the site I once had pinned but lost it...thank you.

I forgot about the few places offering the Beta Codes. I PO mine from Best Buy. I checked their site and didn't see anything "special" on the PS4. She is shooting between now and hopefully around July 4th weekend which may bring some deals. I need to check Amazon, BB and Gamestop on the Beta. Thanks guys....
