Re: Fallout 4
Yeah, I did the Castle earlier too, around Level 15-18, I'm at 27 right now. It was really painful, a lot of deaths and restarts. In one of my tries I was fighting a Legendary mirelurk and the Queen Mirelurk. Yeah, I only lasted a few seconds.
I used the Fat Man. And then just hide in the castle, trying to hit the Queen. It took me a long time doing that. Then I had to kill the Legendary Mirelurk, but for that one I just jumped to an unreachable place and kept firing from there. I took off my armor, and the other Minuteman that was alive immediately took it. It was fun. |

This article is a pretty well written summary of what Fallout 4 is...
http://kotaku.com/fallout-4-is-not-t...ith-1745651992 I've said it before but if Obsidian doesn't get a chance to do another proper Fallout game, I'll be pretty disappointed. These sorts of games are pretty rare nowadays and it'd be shame if Fallout doesn't do a course correction into becoming more of an RPG again. |
Re: Fallout 4
Yeah, even though it's more limited I enjoy this a lot more than Fallout 3 or New Vegas. But all 3 have been a big step back from the original two.

Re: Fallout 4
Legendaries are random, so sometimes they'll show up, sometimes they won't.
For some reason seeing "Legendary" always pulls me out of the game a little bit, even though it's just slightly different than having somebody's name floating above their head. |

Ha, my Minutemen guys, with the exception of one (to monitor the radio signal) and Preston survived. Everyone else did not. I think it's programmed that way.

Hmm, all I know is I still have almost no one there. I was supposed to assign someone to do something at the end of another quest there, and there was no one left alive to assign (eventually there was, I actually have a whopping 2 settler-type people there at this point). So I just figured it was that I let everyone die.

Re: Fallout 4
I'm t level 51 and saw that I accidentally armed myself with this awesome and powerful gun that uses the 5.54 bullets. I've been staying over to the left of the map across the radiated hills and ran into 2 Deathclaws and a fucking Matriarch Deathclaw. It was intense but if it wasn't for me being leveled up that high and having this gun I would have been toast. I recommend having lots of the Radaway/radiation suit, because that's where all the fallout seems to rain from. I went over to some cache building and the Atlantic Office but had to back off due to the radiation.

I only had 4 settlers at the castle for the longest time until it dawned on me that I never actually built one of those beacons (I assumed the tower that was already there was it, but it's not). The population shot right up to 20+ once I built the beacon. |

The tower you assign someone to in the castle is an emergency broadcast signal that keeps giving you settlement assistance type quests when you're close by. It's not a settler beacon. If you want to get more settlers at the castle, you still have to build one of those settler beacon towers that you build in all the other settlements.

No extra perks but if it's something pretty useful to your play style, might be worth it (I had agility at 9 since I mostly sneak around and need lots of vats, might have made it 10 to bump to 11 just to see if it made a difference if I'd known). |
Re: Fallout 4
Still roaming around and cleaning out certain places. Cleaned out the Gunners Plaza, etc. There's a bobblehead in that level, but you need to be leveled up, because Gunners tend to be strong as it is already.

Re: Fallout 4
I've decided I'm just gonna store all my stuff at one location (first red rocket you get) it's just easier to manage that way but I wanted to ask was...do raiders or anyone else ever steal your shit when you're not there?
I don't know who would just throw shit in a random mailbox or any other place that allows you store your stuff....I mean how the hell would you remember where it was?? |

Re: Fallout 4
I just store all my stuff at the workshop in Sanctuary. I have that place set us at the hub for all my supply lines so whenever I fill up with junk I drop it in my workshop and I can use it anywhere.

Re: Fallout 4
Hit lvl 20 and I finally feel like I'm not spending so much time running for my life.
|
Re: Fallout 4
I store my crap in Sanctuary and at my house in Diamond City. I do have several Power Armors around the Comonwealth.
|
Re: Fallout 4
Red Rocket is my home base, but I do have couple power armor suits at Sanctuary and a couple at Prydm.
I set up supply lines to most settlements, so all but airport and Prydm are connected. Spoiler:

Re: Fallout 4
More roaming today. Discovered the airport and the robot pirates. That mission had a hilarious finish.
I think I'm at level 57. For those that have finished does the "railroad" mission interfere with the "reunions" mission? Does the order of completion matter. I feel like I'm getting to the end. Please advise. |
Re: Fallout 4
Anyone else find the submarine yet?

Please advise. The order of completion doesn't matter, but if you want to get all the achievements/trophies in one playthrough then you have to make a couple saves at certain points. Most people do their first critical save at 'Mass Fusion' (which is an Institute quest). Also, if you haven't been to the Institute yet then you're not quite getting near the end. You will come to a point where the other 3 factions (Brotherhood, Railroad, Minutemen) will stop giving you 'new' storyline quests until you reach the Institute so don't worry about alienating anybody just yet. |

Re: Fallout 4
So, I've pretty much been everywhere on the map (with the exception of a few places) - Interesting things everywhere.
I have found the thing that pisses me off most about this game - the ammo, I have killed a ton of ghouls and everything else and I only get shitty ammo from every enemy. Even when I went to the Boston common (and wasn't expecting to encounter what I did) and had to fight the main "boss" - I had no good ammo at all. Between the ammo issue, Constantly having to manage picked up items (you're carrying too much and can't run!!), and having to deal with trying to find the next mission location on the map as they sometimes make you find them yourself......it really slows down the momentum of the game. I loved when I visited the area (sorry, can't remember the name) where robots run the city - I decided to play along with the diner robot who asked if I wanted to be seated to eat, so I followed him, sat down in the booth and he asked "so what will it be - char-broiled, mashed, (and something else..I forget)" when I chose char-broiled my character said "wait, what?" then all the robots started to attack me - ha, really caught me off guard. Oh, and has anyone ran into a "Swan" yet? Shit, those things have to be stronger than the death claws....well maybe I'm wrong but, don't walk in shallow ponds or you will run into one!!!! (hint, if you really want to fight one, find the boston common on your map and simply walk through the pond out in front of it). |
Re: Fallout 4
You can always sell the .38 ammo that is literally everywhere and trade the funds to buy the ammo you need. For weight issues, just bring a follower along and command them to pick up the heavy items. Even Dogmeat can carry armor for you. And you travel in power armor you carry weight increases enough for it to no be a big deal.
I'd really wish they would add a gun rack and mannequins in the workbench to display your unused special weapons and unique outfits. They already have magazine racks and a bobble head stand. Seems easy enough. |
