Only thing I can't figure out is how to get your companion to EXIT the power armor suit.
Also it definitely gives them more HP (not sure if carry weight increases, I think it does at least to compensate the weight of the suit), but you do have to repair it. |

Re: Fallout 4
Pretty much, the conversation system took a huge plunge. It's a shame really, as that was always a very unique aspect of the Fallout series and it keeps getting diminished. I hope Obsidian gets another turn at doing a Fallout game next, like before.

Go to your companion's inventory and there should be an equip/un-equip toggle for any items that are wearable.

Finally hooked up with Piper.

As a companion; Dog vs Codsworth?

Re: Fallout 4
Piper likes it when you do good deeds but she also likes it more when you pick locks. Do enough of both to unlock her newer speech options. Once she "idolizes" you then you can cue them or she will ask you to talk.
This goes for all of the characters. Codsworth idolized me but it was creepy, so I sent him away and even Hancock idolized me and he had to bounce, too. My character only goes for trim. Keep in mind that not everyone likes it when you do good. Hancock likes it when you get high and gives you the occasional Jet for your troubles, etc. |
Re: Fallout 4
I kind of like the changes in the dialogue system. It makes me feel like I have to make better choices instead of just ask them everything and have a 10 minute conversation. |

This is true except you have to add the "give me all your money and I'll save the baby" option.

Re: Fallout 4
I give it a pass since we have fully voiced characters reading thousands of lines of dialogue (I read there was 2,000 +). If they were to use the old dialogue system, they'd be recording 10,000 lines instead.

Re: Fallout 4
I can appreciate how much content is in a game like this, but the number of bugs is kind of astounding to me, and basic stuff, like getting killed by enemies that aren't yet visible, or subtitles that stick on the screen (I turned on captions) despite the dialog having changed a dozen times since then, to an abundance of graphical glitches. It just makes it feel rushed. (PS4 version here).
|
Re: Fallout 4
I've also experienced the subtitles sticking on the Xbox. And characters that don't love their lips while speaking sometimes, but then do.
|
Re: Fallout 4
I have not had any glitches on the PS4 version. I also don't use the subtitles.

Re: Fallout 4
Hit LVL 19. Stopping for tonight total log time is 60 HRS and 9 MINS.
|
Re: Fallout 4
I've had the subtitles glitch, too. But that's about it.
|
Re: Fallout 4
The only glitch I've seen so far [PS4} is an NPC sitting as if in a chair, while the chair was next to him instead of under him.

Having Idiot Savant trigger 5x XP on a mission turn-in is so awesome, sometimes that's enough XP for two entire levels. |
Re: Fallout 4
I had this hilarious glitch when using VATS mode. I aimed at a guy with my sniper rifle, and executed the attack, and instead I was teleported above him about 200 feet, and then plummeted to my death. I was laughing so hard I didn't even mind losing some progress.

Crazy that you are only level 19. Not sure if it's me going high Luck for Idiot Savant (and now also Int, since that combo is actually the best for XP gains), but I'm level 35 at 36 hours in.

Oh wow didn't realize what that perk does. I'll have to grab that next time I level up. Thanks!
I was hesitant on putting any points into Int to go along with Idiot Savant (started with 1 Int), but I really wanted the Scrapper and Gun Nut perks, so I dug around and found that info. This is where the new speech system really hurts, since intelligence no longer affects how you talk. The original Fallout games you couldn't even speak besides gibberish if you had 1 Int, and your speech gradually got better as your intelligence increased. Let for lots of hilarity. |
Re: Fallout 4
where do you see your play time?
Oh, and the Lone Wanderer perk...full 3 levels, if you run without a companion it gives you 100 extra pounds of weight, 30% damage reduction and 25% bonus damage. A strong, if not one of these strongest, perk if you want to run by yourself..but it seems that dogmeat does not count as a companion, you keep the bonus when you use him...this might be a glitch, and they might patch it out, but for now this makes it one hell of a perk. |
