Re: Fallout 4
The rumor seems to be that Sony wanted Bethesda to QA and validate all user mods before release because of instability issues that can occur on XBox One.
|
Re: Fallout 4
If that's true, I understand Sony's position, but would prefer it to be a user-beware kind of situation when installing mods. It's a bummer, because I was looking forward to the mods.

For fans of The Silver Shroud, make sure that you bring the outfit with you to Nuka World and equip it in the Western-themed section of the park.

Re: Fallout 4
I haven't played Fallout 4 since it was released and I completed the main story, 100 hrs or so of play time. :D
Since I got the digital deluxe edition, all the DLC has been waiting for me in Xbox, and I finally decided to take a look. I didn't check anything about them. No backstory, nothing. I actually decided to start with what I considered one of my old open tasks... and it ended up being Far Harbor. Fast forward 20 hours... I'm still at the island, probably not close to finish the main story. And I'm loving the story! That's some great DLC. |
Re: Fallout 4
Just got this a few days ago and sadly I haven't been able to play much but I LOVE it, awesome awesome game, can't wait to put some serious hours into it.
|
Re: Fallout 4
One that I need to go back to....I didn't play any of the previous Fallout games and got this months ago when it hit $29. I still have about 30%= of the area on the map to see and also go back to other places. One of the pre-reviews I read said even after "400 Hours"...the Devs were finding new stuff they didn't even know about. I love the huge open sandbox which is pretty much..."here's the key...do what you want and have fun". Some of the Towns & Cities you can almost spend several days alone in. And the side characters are such fun with all their stories and play. I can see why it got 9's and above....

Re: Fallout 4
I still have my PS4 Pipboy edition unopened :gah:

Re: Fallout 4
I got this a little while ago when it was on sale for $20 digital. I really do like it, but even on easy mode, this game is just kicking my ass. And frustrating as hell.
I'm just constantly dying, and it isn't fun. In one instance I was just walking to a quest, and it seems like I randomly just stepped on a landmine in the woods, because i just blew up. No warning, no nothing. Or I'll peek my head into a building to see if there's anything in there, and instantly be swarmed by 6 ghouls at once and die. I don't know, it seems like I'm just missing something. For a world with so much stuff all over the place, it seems weird to have to "stick to the road or die instantly". Maybe I just suck :( |

Re: Fallout 4
The trick to staying alive in Fallout 4 is....
Use your "Friend/Companion"...let them deal the most, attract and take on the enemies while you stay behind them. Upgrade Armor and pay attention to their perks....like some armor has bonus against ghouls. Armor is your best friend or at least to me it is. And early on collect and sell any and everything you can so you can buy and trade for better gear. And get you 'benches" up to help make better stuff ...and a tip on the ghouls.....shoot their leg(s)....they can't attack if they don't have a leg and get a easy head shot for extra points |
Re: Fallout 4
Yeah, I did all that, and while it would get me through some hostiles here and there, I still died a ton, enough to keep it from being fun. In fact, doing all that extra work you detail and still dying a lot, makes it even worse, as like I said, I didn't have to do any of that shit in Skyrim to stay alive.
|
Re: Fallout 4
Sorry to hear your troubles. I really need to get back into this. Where are you at in the game? I do know early on I went to a few places and got my butt kicked and didn't return until I got better gear and better guns.
As far as companions early on Dogmeat is still good reliable and will protect you. Codsworth is great with his melee and flamethrower and has the second highest strength only behind Strong plus he has high endurance. But Cait is really good overall with a shotgun and a good set of armor. If you have Strong, the Super Mutant it's even better. Equip him with Super Mutant Armor and a heavy melee weapon and he'll take care of everything |
Re: Fallout 4
Should I or do I have to finish the game before I go to Far Harbor? I am level 45.
|
Re: Fallout 4
Like in previous games, it doesn't matter.
I had already finished the game when I played Far Harbor, and based on my decisions I hoped to get more friendlines from some group, but I don't think it mattered. (Or was the opposite? to receive more opposition? I don't remember). Have fun! It's a really good DLC. |
Re: Fallout 4
WOW!! Far Harbor for me is more fun than the main quest; which I have now given up on to finish Far Harbor. Really enjoying this DLC and it has breathed new life into the game for me. Spent most of the weekend playing it.

Re: Fallout 4
I was at Best Buy today and had to do a double take when I noticed that they had a Pip Boy edition of the game on the bottom shelf. It must have been put out recently because I never noticed it before. The crazy thing was they still wanted $120 for it
|
Re: Fallout 4
I started playing it again and glad I did.....the game though "old" by today's standard is still a blast to play with all it's unpredictable anything can happen style.....

Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition Announced; Pip-Boy Collector Edition Returning for a Limited Time
Nearly two years after its launch, Bethesda's commercial hit Fallout 4 is getting a Game of the Year Edition on PS4, Xbox One, and PC next month, alongside a second-run of the highly popular Pip-Boy Collector Edition. http://www.dualshockers.com/fallout-...ion-announced/ |
Re: Fallout 4
anything new we didn't get with the previous sedition gameplay-wise?

Re: Fallout 4
I let someone barrow my Fallout 4 copy thinking they play it for a week and give it back...Nope. They said if they had known more about the game they would've got it long ago....it's one of their favorites. I should've stayed with this and Ghost Recon instead of venturing out with other games...and come fall I have no idea what I'll do with SW Battlefront 2 and want both Middle Earth: Shadow of War and Wolfenstein: New Colossus.
And I failed that stupid Ship Mission at the very end and didn't get the cannon and hope I can still go back to a early save point and re-do it...which it seems is possible. One heck of a game though. |
Re: Fallout 4
I still have my original pipboy edition unopened!

Re: Fallout 4
I still need to finish this...
Wait.... |
Re: Fallout 4
Just heads up...the GOTY Edition hits tomorrow and Amazon Prime has 20% off "Today Only" and Best Buy for members have 20% off.
In addition to the base game, the GOTY Edition also includes Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Far Harbor, Contraptions Workshop, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Nuka-World DLC add-ons |
Re: Fallout 4
Where else can I buy a house besides Diamond City?
|
Re: Fallout 4
The Game of the Year Edition doesn't include the DLC on the disc. It's the same old disc with a voucher inside the box that includes the code to download the extra content.

|
Re: Fallout 4

I'm level 13 Depending on your strength will allow you to carry more weight...and guns add weight but can fetch decent prices. Even ammo you don't use is good to sale or trade for. Later on there are potions...and even a perk that allows haggling over getting more $$$ on sales. As to Perk Points...as Brian said it depends on your playstyle and even weapon of choice. Pick what YOU want to be and then look up the Perk Chart to see how it's laid out. There are several perks that I would deem important but it's all up to you. |
Re: Fallout 4
do the enemies level up with you?
I hope not. Im getting my ass kicked by those super mutants. |

Re: Fallout 4
As Brian said...the game wants you to explore alright...just not too far too fast. Again, it goes back to your playstyle along with perks and weapon(s) of choice. For me, I went with the Rifle perk to get as much damage as possible distance wise while zeroing in on perks to help me withstand damage while not being to Tanky & Slow. The other part you will need to look at...and goes back to gathering any & everything is upgrading your armor. A good Chest is a must but you can mix & match various pcs to help out against certain foes. Just be careful as to getting ones that weigh you down too much.
|
Re: Fallout 4
thanks for all the hints. I tend also to snipe away from a distance and chose the rifle perk.

Don't neglect sneak as it is a 2x damage multiplier. Other perks also enhance sneak damage. Been a while but as I recall it, with the right perks you can get 5x or 6x base damage. My guy could one shot deathclaws. Always improve your guns. Improving the receiver greatly increases the damage they do. I see you started a character with a lot of Int. That was important in New Vegas, not so much in this game. Chrisma was a throwaway stat in New Vegas but nearly essential here. You will need Local Leader perk to establish supply lines... fair warning. |
Re: Fallout 4
Local Leader perk -
i didn't bother with the settlement building stuff. it just seems like too much hassle. also, i couldn't find settlers to assign crops to in one of the quest so i gave up on it. |
