I just told them that the high cost was making me less willing to do crazy stuff. I also mentioned that I didn't like the idea that one can get punished for destroying an attackers vehicle.

R* apparently listened to the complaints about the death tax. I downloaded the latest update for PS3. I was shot to death by bystanders and later crashed a plane. The first cost me $365 and the second cost me $265. I'm not sure what the difference was. Maybe accidental deaths cost less. Maybe they drop the cost for repeats.

From the 1.04 patch details:

"Players now only lose a maximum of 500 GTA$ upon death in Freemode"

So there ya go, they did address the issue. $500 is nothing in this game.

As for Passive mode, all it does is stop people from shooting you when you're not in a car. Some guy tried to use Passive mode while he was stealing a high profile car for Simeon (the one that shows up on the map in green sometimes). Sorry, but that's a dick move, so I shot him through the windshield and took possession of the car.

That has to do more with ranking up than money. What you will see more of is people owning faster cars all tricked out, making races very tough to win without doing the same.

Finally hit level 100 online! We got a few new missions from it and are waiting for some more to come through. Now, the long grind to 120 for the mini-gun.

I don't mind losing races as long as a I'm getting some cash and two bars of RP per race. :)

The latest update has not solved the problem of owned stuff disappearing. I replaced a vehicle in the garage and sold the old one. The new one was gone when I went back to the garage. I lost clothes that I had bought the previous session. The last time that I went back, I had lost $30,000.

My friends and I lost $20K and the RP from going through all 10 levels of Survival. There are still a ton of bugs in this thing.

Thank god for that. I noticed it last night when we encountered another spawn killer. I hated that all my cash would get wasted in about 10 minutes from getting killed a few times in a row.

Re: GTA Online Thread Of Law Abiding Citizens

I had a level 15 player erased a week into the game. So to get "even" I glitched the shit out of the game and am sitting on 20 million. Having money definitely makes it so you are more willing to try things out.

Finally got to level 42 to get the attack helicopter. Missiles from the sky sound cool, but it is harder than it should be. It automatically locks onto police when you have a star, but I wish it did the same for players with bounties on their heads.

I HATE that you are considered a bad sport for destroying a vehicle. If a guy has a bounty on his head and he doesn't leave his car, it should be fair game. I also hate that anyone can kick you for any reason. I was in the middle of roaming around in a game with a friend and was kicked. I did nothing wrong, got into no altercation, probably just kicked to make room for somebodies friend. For some reason I also haven't unlocked calling lester to remove wanted levels. I should have gotten it a while ago.

Despite the issues I am having fun with this. I just can't wait to get heists up and running.

Oh and a tip for good RP and decent money.

Find a friend and race at the track Criminal minds. 3 laps, traffic and wanted level on. Motorcycle works best (fastest), go slower your first lap so that your second lap is faster than the first. You get a TON of RP and the whole race should take about a minute and a half...

But you need at least 2 people

I've been online (PS3) today for a few short sessions. It's not saving any new money. I've lost at least another $30,000.

Re: GTA Online Thread Of Law Abiding Citizens

Well, it took me over 2 years to get the platinum for GTA IV.

GTA V took me just over a month. Heh.

I got it down to needing to get to Rank 100 online, as I knocked out all the other online trophies on the way to the big one. I even managed to get the 30 Platinum awards out of the way first. So when I went to another round of Criminal Records (the race you use to rank up quickly, though 3 laps is overkill), I buzzed through the first lap and got the 3000RP I needed to get to Level 100, and get the sweet sweet platinum.

Now I can relax and cause general mayhem, or just shoot the breeze with my crew buddies. I'll still work my way to level 120 for the minigun.

Also, I took care of things before the ways to make money are being killed off. In addition to preventing easy replays of missions, they have now messed with the money being handed out on them. Here's a few things I observed from doing missions in the 1.04 patch:

1) Payouts vary depending on your Rank now. If you are ranked below the level that is required for the mission, your payout will be half.
2) Repeating missions leads to the payout being cut in half.

For example, I did a mission for Martin. After completing it with crew, two of us got $20,000. The guy ranked below the mission level got 10. Right after that, another member of the crew got the same mission so we all played with him. The second time, we all got 10 except for the one who didn't play the first run. He still got 20.

So basically what Rockstar has done here is that they've made the glitchers and those who used the exploits to make money a higher class. Instead of raising prices for items in the game, they decided to make it harder for newcomers to get their feet on the ground.

Of course, they didn't really mess with the RP in these missions, so you could always buy GTA money to make up the shortfall...

3 laps is the sweet spot. You would get around 3000 RP every time around the track. (assuming your second lap is faster than the first). It stops working at lap 4.

Yeah I was actually able to make some money this weekend.
Speaking of which, where is my stimulus money? I thought we were getting it by the end of the week.

All we got was a patch and server problems nearly all day on Saturday. :(

How do you even enter passive mode? It seems like the only way is standing around like an idiot and dicking around with your smartphone, which is about the least effective way to not get killed.

Pull up the quick menu (hold select on the 360) and it pops up.

The kicking thing really needs to go. I was collecting bounties on a couple of the players got them, and then I get kicked. Rockstar really messed up this feature.

I've been getting kicked while literally doing nothing, just driving. It's completely messed up.

You guys have to understand that a lot of times when it says you've been "kicked" from Free Roam, the game has actually glitched. I've been kicked from lobbies for deathmatches and races, mainly due to my rank, but the times it happened in free roam were glitches as I was in rooms with only friends, and I know they didn't kick me.

They delayed it. I'd hate to have them dump the money on me and then have the cloud take it away again.

I played for a while yesterday and was about to level up when I got a time out message for a mission I was joining, which kicked me out to the single player game. Jumped back to online and I was back to the start of my current level, so I lost almost a full levels worth of RP and all the money I had made.

I saw some connection errors today, but I don't seem to have lost money.

I broke down and bought an apartment. They really need to add some options. Offer a way to alter furnishings. Some mini games (table tennis, air hockey, pool table, Playboxii console for the TV). Allow changing the volume on the music. A shelf for trophies/achievements. Ability to buy and install a helipad on the roof. Enable running while indoors. Make hookers available to call in. First aid kit.
