With no backwards compatibility, what are you going to do with your old consoles?
We have some time still, but figured it was worth seeing what people's plans are with their old consoles. I'm probably buying an Xbox One, but haven't figured out yet what i'm going to do with my old 360. I might sell it or bring it into my office for the lounge. I have a super slim PS3 that i'll keep for a bit longer since i've only had it for a year and there's still games I want to play on it.

I barely play my PS3 or X360 anymore so I'll probably just put them into storage. PS3 will stay out a little longer since there are a few more titles coming out on it that I want to play.

The 360 will go in my son's room, with the Xbox One and/or PS4 going in the living room.

Since buying a next gen console would probably necessitate buying a new television (old rear projection HDTV with no HDMI), I'm going to hold off for the foreseeable future and wait for BF/Post Xmas deals on TV's.

PS3: Still lots of good exclusives coming out, and it will probably remain my primary Blu/Netflix player, just to save wear/tear on my PS4.
Wii: A simple softmod has made my Wii a monster retro gaming device, so it'll stay put as well...plus it only uses up a component input and is completely hidden.

I have well over 200 disc-based games on current-gen consoles, along with probably close to the same number via digital. I'd say at least 30% of them are still in the "backlog" category.
So my old consoles aren't going anywhere, especially with the new ones not having a large (or inexpensive) catalog for the first couple of years.

I might take my HD-DVD player and put that away. But my 360 and PS3 will stay hooked up for quite a while.

I could hold off on this generation for years while I play my backlog, so the 360 and PS3 are not going anywhere.
The Wii might get moved to the bedroom with all the other non-HD unplayed consoles.

All of my Wii games are ripped to an external HDD, so the only time I ever need to physically access it is if I'm playing a Gamecube game.

The Wii is not in the way of anything since it is on top of the entertainment center and partially behind the TV.
I don't know what an Xbone is, but I'm still not 100% how the layout of the 360, PS3, PS4 and One is going to be yet.

X+
If it helps, only one of them can't be stood upright.

Nope, the Wii is the only console standing up, all my other consoles are in the natural horizontal position.

My 360 stays hooked up for the time being, I'm not moving it even if I do get a wild hair up my butt and actually buy an XBone. However, my original XBox might get moved in the near future back to the retro gaming room because I am eying a RetroN 5 since it has an HDMI connection. Reviews need to come for that one first though.

I have (3) PS3's and (2) 360's... I plan to keep one of each for posterity and sell the other two as credit towards the next gen gear.

I think Rock Band alone is a good reason to keep a current-gen console around. We may not get any RB for the new systems, and any cloud-based service may not work well for such a timing-sensitive game.

Since I am in the process of converting my DVD collection to digital I will keep both my PS3s as streaming devices. I still have more stuff to play anyways.

I purchased my Xbox 360 around 2006 or 2007 as a replacement for my original one that got the RROD.
It's still working and I quite a few games that are still entertaining. Why the hell should I put them away or sell them? I admit, with work and other things, I don't have as much time as I did 6-7 years ago to play games, but it's still a fun diversion.
As for the next gen console, it's still wait and see. I'm not in a major hurry to blow 400-500 bucks and spend several hundred more dollars on new games.

Mine aren't going anywhere. I still have room in my stand, and my receiver has 8 HDMI ports, so I'm good to go. I doubt I'll be using the 360 or PS3 much though, they'll probably just gather dust like the Wii.

Mine are going to a secondary TV. I don't think I have room in my cabinet. Although the PS4 seems pretty small...it might be able to squeeze in with the Wii U.

Isn't the PS4 about the size of the original 360?
I know I used to think it was tiny too.

That pic is a bit off.
The Xbone is very close to the original fat PS3.
The PS4 is very close to the slim PS3.

I'm going to plug my 360 into the HDMI input on my Xbone. Sure would be sweet if I could use the same controller for both.

Well, I still have a Super Nintendo hooked up so I imagine they'll stick around for quite some time

The 360 will stick around for quite some time due to Rock Band. I still like to pick it up and play occasionally and it is always a hit at parties. Unless they come up with a new RB and a way to transfer your songs that you bought (I don't expect the instruments to work on the new Xbox One) then the 360 may stay will me for a very long time.
With the BC and my purchases not transferring, the XB1 and the PS4 are on equal footing so I have not decided which one I am going to go with yet. If the 360's DLC purchases would have transferred to the XB1, the XB1 would have been an easy front runner even with all their issues they have had.
