Re: Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis has died

There were just a couple of comments that struck me that way, like "I knew it was the last time I'd see him" in the discussion about hugs. But I might have mis-heard.

Re: Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis has died

Yeah, I thought they did a great job on the podcast. You could tell for a couple of them, it was difficult to hold back the tears. I haven't listened to the Idle Thumbs one yet. I'm not a huge fan of those guys. Ironically, the last podcast I listened to of theirs, Ryan Davis was the guest that week, right after the Xbox One reveal.

Have they released the cause of his death anywhere yet? On the site it just lists "natural causes," which could include a heart attack.

Re: Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis has died

He had sleep apnea (talked about it a lot on the Bombcast) and his father tweeted out that he died in his sleep of natural causes, so I think that's probably what did him in.

Chess, I just listened to that part of the podcast. I think the confusion is because Patrick Klepek said it and he has since moved to Chicago, so I'm assuming that's what he meant.

Re: Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis has died

Thanks for the clarification. I was doing something else while listening and thought I might have mis-heard it.

The Idle Thumbs guys were definitely shocked, but they didn't dwell on it in quite the same way the Bombcast guys did...understandably.

It did remind me that both podcasts had a thing about buying up URLs for laughs though. Ryan founded batmanbatmanbatman.com, and the Idle Thumbs guys bought giantbomb.net and redirected it to Idle Thumbs.

Sad to hear this news as well. Wow 34 is scary young. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call for Jeff Gertzman to get in shape as well. I remember E3 videos of the guys making a big trip to Del Taco like it was an event. Let's face it, sitting around playing video games all day for a living isn't that good for your health.

Del Taco is an event. I don't care what kind of shape you're in.
