S:1. What is the best powerup in any Super Mario Brothers game?

First, some good power ups, but not in this game.

Tanooki != Racoon. I sure hope he merged those results and that Fire Flower is actually the top answer, as it should be!

Very different. Tanooki does what the Raccoon (Super Leaf) does plus it turns you into a statue.

The Tanooki suit and the super leaf are definitely two separate power-ups.

On a side note, I can't believe I let my 10 year old self go with the ever elusive (and awesome) hammer suit, when I should have listened to my 33 year old self and gone with the "obvious" answer.

True. If anyone went with the leaf, they are completely wrong. It does nothing that the Tanooki suit doesn't do.
