Shinji Mikami’s New Game is The Evil Within
The creator of Resident Evil returns to survival horror.

Bethesda has officially announced The Evil Within, the first game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s studio Tango Gameworks. The Evil Within is a survival horror title due to arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and next-generation consoles in 2014.

“We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within,” said Mikami. “My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.”

IGN will have exclusive first impressions of The Evil Within on Monday, April 22nd at 7:00 a.m. Pacific, so be sure to check back then for our thoughts on an early demo along with a behind-the-scenes look at Tango Gameworks.

I've been looking forward to this one for some time. Mikami wanted to go back to his RE roots before he started this game. The trailer has no game footage, but reminds me of the old RE1 live action FMVs.

Seems interesting but how about a game not like Resident Evil? The first pic looks like you are hunting a killer but as you go down through the screens it looks more and more like an RE ripoff.

This has been one of my most anticipated games for a while now, but the impressions from the PAX demo were almost entirely negative. IGN's write-up says it "fails at horror." Disappointing, but I'm not giving up hope yet.

Bethesda didn't develop it. They're only publishing.

Maybe it's just me, but nothing in that trailer really screamed next gen. I wonder if that footage was from the 360 or PS3 versions. Even the screenshots above look better.
