Re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)
I finally bought a VR gaming headset. (I do have an old Oculus Go). The Meta Quest 2 was $200 with a $50 Meta GC. I figured $150 is a pretty good entry point. See if I really use it much. Hopefully will use it to get some VR exercise.
So I know I'm late to the game and a generation behind but anyone have any recommendations on straps for the Quest 2? I heard the elite strap is pretty terrible but it's on sale for $45 so that's kind of tempting. But I've heard BoboVR and Kiwi are good as well at $50 but then they won't fit into the case.

I ended up getting both of them. I got the Meta brand first but didn't like it that much. So I got the Kiwi's. But figured it was more the face plate. Got the larger faceplate with the silicon cover and now they both feel a lot better. I'll have to figure out which one to return.
I'm really enjoying my Meta Quest 2 so far. I'm definitely addicted to Beat Saber and bought a bunch of music packs already. Only thing I don't like is the original music selection. It's kind of terrible with not a single track that I'm familiar with. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a Lindsey Stirling exclusive song in there though. That one is by far my favorite. I can complete most songs in Hard mode but it seems to be a huge step to Expert. I pretty much play as no fail though. It's always been jarring failing a song in these music games but especially in VR.
I did subscribe to Meta+, it really seems like a pretty good deal for people like me with zero games to play. I especially couldn't resist 13 months for $60 + $25 Meta credit. $35 seems like a no brainer. Plus a lot of VR games seem to be more along the level of iPhone app games. Kind of gimmicky and/or short. So it's nice to able to have them/try them out with little risk to see which ones I like.
So far I've enjoyed Drop Dead Dual Strike. The gun mechanic is quite good. The aiming mechanic is so accurate I'm as terrible of a shot as I am in real life. . I find myself having to close one eye to line up the sights for distant targets. The kids have enjoyed Floor Plan 2 and Walkabout Mini Golf. We've all enjoyed the surprise hit the built in tutorial First Steps. It's really quite impressive but maybe that's just because we're all new to VR.
