Re: Battlefield 4 (360, PS3, PC, who knows what else; Fall 2013)

Since I don't work at an Activision company anymore and can't buy Call of Duty for $5 or $10, i've been forcing myself to play BF4 after buying and playing maybe an hour of BF3

I'm starting to enjoy it a lot, at least the smaller Rush/Domination maps that feel more Call of Dutyish to me. Still not a huge fan of 64 player giganto maps that take forever and require more patience then I have, but oh well.

Maybe I'm not reading your statement correctly but are you saying not all maps are 64 player? How does that work? I'm on PS3 so I only get 24 players, but I imagine the maps will all be the same for PS4.

Edit: never mind. I didn't get the rush/domination part. Yeah those are smaller. Conquest is all I care about. The other modes are meh.

It's funny because in previous battlefields, "Rush" mode had the BIGGEST maps, with parts you never got to see in any of the other modes. They dumbed it down quite a bit in this one.

I just finished the campaign on this, and it's actually not too bad - it's nowhere near "whack-a-mole" as CoD is, and some of the environments are wide enough where you can actually achieve your objectives though different approaches. But the ending, god, it ends on such a wet fart. But at least it's not a cliff-hanger.

Conquest for life yo! Rush is just a meat grinder, and TDM is for CoD noobs.

I did have some fun with that horde mode type game in BC2...had to look it up...Onslaught.

64 people is just too chaotic for me. There's some fun to it, especially with vehicles, but just feels like a wild mess of people running around. I like Rush because it's more controlled chaos since there's only a couple points to attack/defend at a time, so it feels like it can be more strategic. Conquest with 32 or 24 people would be better for me though.

Well, it's been a long damn time since I signed in for some games. But at one point I was one of the highest leveled guys in the BFBC2 group. And then I just stopped playing. I hit Level 30, earned almost entirely with this lot of crazy fuckers.

I picked it up pretty early on, at digi's recommendation but mostly just screwed around online. I don't know when I started playing more, probably when I hopped in with chess and he schooled me on the medic class. Beforehand I mostly just tried to C4 people because it was hilarious.

You know, I do kind of remember you dropping in for a while. I was just thinking I hadn't seen you much since the Warhawk days.

Medic class is so overpowered in that game (other than vehicles). Love it!

That's pretty funny. Looks like I might skip COD this year.

Torched a guy to death with the repair tool. And the tank he was trying to repair. I'm satisfied.

This is where that game DVR thing would be awesome.

If you have an NVidia card, you can use Shadowplay, which will allow you to record the last "n" minutes with a press of a button if something awesome happens. Overview: http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2013/10/18/shadowplay/

Shit, I was wondering what Shadowplay was and never read about it. That would have been handy.

Re: Battlefield 4 (360, PS3, PC, who knows what else; Fall 2013)

The "commander" app is now live for iOS. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but the concept of it is incredible. If anyone hasn't played BF4 yet, you can join games as the commander and you basically have an overhead view of the map, spotting enemies, marking objectives, deploying the gunship etc.

Now with this app, I can log in to the battlefield servers using my Origin ID, and join games with MY soldier as the commander and play alongside my PS3/PS4 friends from my iPad.

Last night I thought I would play a quick round then go to bed. I chose Obliteration since it seems fun. 106 minutes later, we finally finished the round after our team made a comeback in destroying their objectives. Everyone earned over 10,000 points, while the leaders had close to 40k. It was nuts.

Re: Battlefield 4 (360, PS3, PC, who knows what else; Fall 2013)

Is anyone playing this on PS4? When I first start up the game, it asks me to enter in an Origin ID, so of course I enter in my existing one but then it says that ID is taken (no shit?). It seems like there should be a way to link up an existing Origin account with the PS4, but it doesn't mention this at all. Fucking EA...

I hate Origin, such a pain in the ass and completely unnecessary. I wish I could just play the damn games through Steam.

God this shit is fucktarded. Apparently they decide to just "autolink" an account based on email addresses. So it automatically linked it with another account. There is no way to remove a linked account, other than emailing Origin and waiting.

Re: Battlefield 4 (360, PS3, PC, who knows what else; Fall 2013)

Had the same issue, was able to access the account that my PSN was linked to, created the "Origin ID" and am now able to play BF4.

I also requested they merge the accounts.

I have no idea how the PSN got linked to that account, or even when it was created... the only game attached to it on Origin was SWTOR.... odd...

Re: Battlefield 4 (360, PS3, PC, who knows what else; Fall 2013)

So I figured I'd be best off just merging the accounts if this is possible. Turns out it is, great! So after going through a bunch of questions, they tell me this:

I would be happy to help you with your account merger request. However, there are technical risks associated with such transfers. You may lose your game status and progress, items purchased and/or earned in your games as well as content that you might have associated with one or both accounts. Once I perform the account merger, it is irreversible. If items, game progress and/or content is lost during the account merger process, the system will unfortunately not have record of them. This will prevent us from being able to recover them and refunds are not available.
WTF.

edit: More WTF... they can't unlink a PSN account through the "chat support team" only through phone support (yet chat support can merge accounts?).

Yep, received the same scripted info and they forwarded the requests to have them processed.

Link for those numbers?

I'd say a big chunk of the drops are more from people waiting to buy next gen versions. Especially those franchises in particular.
