Now, if they sell this shit and then put out even another big DLC and copy of the game then this will grow tiresome really quickly. Work on the next game and build a better universe with an actual story and reason to play other than simply trying to level up and upgrade equipment. Then I might become interested again. At this point, I feel like I got a bit of the shaft buying that CE when it first came out for 80 bucks.
Now the amount of actual content Bungie is providing over similar games... |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I have a feeling this new expansion won't have much more content than the last DLC.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I'm confused about this Ultimate Bundle stuff : I can see that the Taken King bundle is $59.99 on Amazon and $48 with GCU at Best Buy. I can't figure out why seemingly the identical content is $79.99 in the PSN Store pre-order -- except that you get the previously released items now. I wonder if when the new expansion gets released if we'll get a new $59.99 listing at that time.
I haven't played Destiny since the first expansion and am trying to decide if I should fold the Taken King content into my $100 purchase this week to at least get $15 back from Sony... |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
And now here we go with the weekly Xur Report, brought to you by yet another DLC. The Taken King...coming soon...
Xur is offering some new items this week, along with items that should go back in his vault or ship or wherever he's been keeping the Gjallarhorn since week 2. Xur is located at the Reef this week, in the same spot he was last time. On with the deals: http://oi62.tinypic.com/14msvt0.jpg For the Titan, it's the new ACD/0 Feedback Fence gauntlets. These will throw off damage to enemies when you get meleed. Decent roll. For the Hunter, it's the new Khepri's Sting gauntlets. These allow you to kneel and go invisible without having to be a bladedancer. It also gives you a perk of hitting a melee from behind while invisible, it does 4 times the damage. The roll is pretty low. For the Warlock, it's Starfire Protocol again. It's the second time Xur has sold these since House Of Wolves was released. This time the roll is shit. The engram this week is for Chests, for the 3rd week in a row. The weapon this week is the Hard Light. Remember what I said about how some items should go back in his vault? Well there you go. So there we go. At least it's better than last week...right? |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Wow that Luke Smith sounds like a Grade A Prick. I don't play Destiny but I can see why fans would be angry at that. Why not tell the interviewer the Emotes will become available separately after a timed exclusive with the collectors edition instead of being a dick about it? Cause I'm pretty sure that's what will eventually happen...
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I loved this response from the interviewer:
Eurogamer: I feel like you should put some of these things that you are empathising with into practice. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
He did come across as a dick.
I feel like the "exculsive" for folks that have been around since the beginning should be the emotes. An emblem and shader are NOT cool exclusive content. Emblems and shaders are a dime a dozen in this game. If they offer them later that sounds like the road down micro-transactions which could get ugly. I have no problem with the cost of the collectors edition....its no different than other Game of the Year editions that include the DLCs. The real issue, as the interviewer said, is the exclusive content you can only get there. Let's reward the folks that have been playing all along by having them buy the game and DLC over again to get some new features. I don't think anyone will do that which essentially means the people playing the longest are the ones missing out. That seems backwards. |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I do have to say, in the initial game, having only 4 planets/areas for $60 was a bit thin. One new area for $40 is fucking highway robbery.
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
On one end, this is pretty much how they have to do it. They HAVE to release the full game + all DLC / expansion packs every time they release a physical release of the game. If they want to build Destiny as this "one game, one universe" that's pretty much the only way to do it that makes sense to ensure a new player has full access to the game.
That being said, each expansion should have a $20 cap, regardless of size. Even to the diehard folks, it's hard to see the value. If so far you have invested $100 in the main game with all of the available DLC, it's hard to justify another $40 when a new player can get into the full game for a mere $60. Even though I don't play it much anymore, I would even consider picking it up for $20, but not a chance at $40. Overall I like Destiny, but I hope this next launch of DLC fails hard. It's the only way for them to take a good hard look on how they are going to handle this game for the next 9 years. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I know I won't be getting the new DLC (unless it gets some amazing reviews) - that's right around when Witcher 3's big expansion drops, which is guaranteed to be more substantial.
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
You know this kind of attitude from Luke Smith has me thinking about waiting until Black Friday to buy the new DLC.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Luke Smith blah blah blah
I tried to stay out of this as long as possible especially with silly statements like some of the ones above (by some who have moved on from the game or spent little to no time with it) assuming the expansion will have little content when it has been mentioned it will have over twice the amount of content as the 2 previous expansions combined here is the answer from DeeJ as to the community concerns https://i2.wp.com/planetdestiny.com/...j-response.png some might want to wait till at least this Thursday before assuming the end of the franchise like I've said before I feel I've gotten more than my return on investment for the LE version purchased at release ..... based on the info I've heard thus far I am fine with parting with $40 for what I've heard we are getting with TTK .... I'm not going to bitch or cry that I'm not getting some silly emoticons for $20 more (and some mention of an XP boost ... which is likely meant to bring new players a way to level up more quickly to compete quicker with existing user base) nor am I going to pay that extra $20 to get them and the content I already have is it a value for new players to the franchise?, absolutely ... and it needs to be to try and pull new users in Bungie will give year 1 players their own rewards .... I'll just continue to point, dance, and wave in the meantime |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
It's not like MMO's don't do a similar pricing structure for their expansions as well. Not all of them have included the base game + expansions before that, but some have. Basically, blame them for making the bundles "too good" of a deal for new players.

A lot over there remember Bungie a long time back as one who stood up against Microsoft for their DLC expansion pricing and now this. It's leaving a very sour taste in a lot of mouths that's for sure.....
And speaking of Bungie....I know Microsoft has control over Halo now and almost fell out of my seat when I saw the Halo 5: Guardians Collector Limited Edition set on Amazon for $250.00!.....talk about ouch! The kicker with that Halo 5 CLE is that it's the same as the LE except for the statue/bookends, AND the fact that you're not getting a physical copy of the game; the steelbook will only contain a digital copy, but the version will release early so diehards can load it up early to wait for release. I actually like digital copies, but you'd think the people who spend the money to want a steelbook and statue also want this to collect, so it seems like an odd decision (let alone the fact that the statue editions of the previous Halo games have never been all that rare anyway). |

Well, the game (and presumably the pricing model) is controlled by Activision, though the guy who put his foot in his mouth is Bungie.

Also, the Limited Collector's Edition of Halo 5 will not release early for those who purchase that specific edition. Microsoft has already cleared this up due to the misinformation going around. While the physical units will be shipped to customers the week before the game's release, the code is specifically for preloads only. The game itself will not unlock until 12:01AM EST on the 27th. It's a stupid decision (here's a steelbook for a piece of paper!), but whatever. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Need some help from you guys here.
I'm a level 25 Warlock and I've been stuck at 25 for a week. I have all blue(rare) armor which has light but my level stopped going up for some reason. I just got to Vanguard Lv2 which allows me to buy legendary gear. I have 121 vanguard marks. Options are: Helmets(447 defense) Gauntlets(366) Leg Armor(325) Chest Armor(488) Or should I get the legendary warlock bond? I can only afford one thing. Edit: I have a legendary bond in my vault but the rep goes to New Monarchy. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
do you mean you are lvl 28?
4 pcs of rare (blue) armor should get you to 100 light if all 4 are at the max level (25 max light per piece x 4) ... you hit level 28 at 98 light to get to lvl 29 you need 109 light so you will need at least a legendary Vault Of Glass piece (maxes out at 30 light) Vanguard/Crucible/Faction armor can go to 36 allowing you to reach lvl 32 (144 light) forget the bond for now .... it alone will not increase your level buy a piece of vanguard armor (best perk, and best stats intellect > discipline > strength) save your strange coins (or I can lend you some: inside joke) and buy an exotic piece of armor from Xur when he appears .... exotic helmets and chests are usually the best so you may want to consider gauntlets or legs for your legendary vanguard purchase EDIT: so you must be a 25 with blue armor that isn't all at 25 light each purchase the vanguard armor as noted above |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
It shows me as level 20 with light *25 and progress to light level 26 bar has been stuck at *70 for awhile now. When I see my character in game it shows 25.
Edit: Wehm I bought and equipped my new legendary chest armor it bumped me to 27 :) |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Ugh.
While we knew it was coming after Red Bull accidentally confirmed Destiny's The Taken King, the energy drink company has hit go on its official site, revealing an exclusive Taken King quest. The "epic, new quest" is a "never-before-seen, multistage mission in The Taken King that will test the speed and strategic abilities of Destiny players in new ways." The quest will be exclusive to Red Bull via an access code under the tab of promotional cans that can be entered on the site and requires The Taken King to be able to play. Drinkers will also get a one time consumable Bonus XP buff that will increase XP gain by 50% for 30 minutes and each marked can of caffeine will include a code. The XP boost will be available from the 1st of July, while the quest will be launching with the Taken King on September the 15th. http://i.imgur.com/SOoXspA.jpg It's okay, though. As the marketing materials say, "Destiny consumers are used to paying a premium for downloadable content similar to this quest." Spoiler:
This quest will apparently be freely available early next year. |
