Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
Blood Dragon is pretty short. Make sure you play all the way through to the end. The finale is awesome.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
Another question:
Should I play FC3 first or Blood Dragon? does it really matter? |
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
Doesn't matter. The stories and characters are completely unrelated.

it is weird that it is called Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon if it is completely unrelated. i am sure most people thought it was an expansion for FC3 and you had to have that game to play it. Sales may have been higher if they kept the 3 off of the title. who knows. |

FC3 will make you more familiar with the island, it's nooks & crannies, and how to get around it than Blood Dragon will. |

Well, it's not completely unrelated since they both use the same island/map.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
I recommend playing FC3 first.
|
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
Yeah, play FC3 first. BD is shorter but I think you'll enjoy it better if you play it after you complete FC3.
Let's say you had a lot of fun playing FC3. BD will be the icing in the cake after that. Trust us. :) |
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
I installed FC3 tonight and played for 3 hours straight. It is awesome! Exactly the experience I was looking for. I did a couple of story missions but I spent most of my time exploring and going stealth on unsuspecting bandits. I love the randomness in the world. I was closing in on 3 guys on a jeep. I killed a guy a few minutes earlier in the middle of the road. They stopped to investigate the body. Before I could make my move, a tiger came out of the jungle and killed all 3. I laughed my ass off. Good times.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
Yep, the game is full of details like that. As I mentioned before, you can complete the main story in 10 hours or so, but if you like to explore or do stuff like you mentioned above, the game can last more than 20 hours.
Oh and I never touched MP |

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
ok, there are 2 things that really aggravate me about this game:
--If I die during a story mission, I start all the way back at the safe house. Which could be a hell of a long way from where I need to be. --There are too many damn animals running around. Last night I was in one spot and counted 15 deer around me. I like the addition of all kinds of animals, but there is way too much. It can be very aggravating trying to sneak up on an enemy and then get attacked by a peacock. Other than that, I am really loving this game. |
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
You can fast travel between safe houses, and then use cars, there are always cars outside. But yeah, don't die.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
I think there are some perks, or something like that, so animals don't attack you. Or was that another game?
|
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
^^ You can mix some combo of leaves and whatnot to either attract or deter them.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
So I beat this on the 360 when it came out and enjoyed the game but was not blown away by it like some. With nothing to play I picked it up on the ps3 and I am now about 10 hours into it. My thoughts on a second play..
1: Game looks horrible at times. There are moments it looks good, but others it is garbage. My first thought was I am being spoiled by next gen, but putting in Just Cause 2 briefly confirmed that the lack of polish on Far Cry 3 is not a limitation of my ps3. 2: I love how the game starts you out so weak, and lets you build up. RPG at its finest, and really works for this game. 3: Story is bad. Roll my eyes, leave the room bad. Enough with not letting me skip cutscenes. 4: Please stop with the "walking through a door and getting overpowered and knocked out" This game does it over...and over...and over... 5: If the game was just taking over outpost, hunting and other side missions it still would have been worth buying. I think I am enjoying more than when I first played it, but I am still early. |
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
LOL, i am so weird with video games. I played FC3 the first night for 3 hours and had a blast. I have yet to play it again. I tend to do this often. That is really why i need to avoid single player games for the most part. I am so used to playing online rpgs and can't seem to move away from that. The only single player game over the past few years I have really played the shit out of was Dark Souls. I even lost interest in Dark Souls 2.

I was so disappointed in it. It just lacked the "magic" the first game had. DS1 grabbed me by the throat immediately. I got about 50% through DS2 and it never grabbed me at all. I had some fun, but I was mainly going through it just to say I went through it. I found DS2 to be extremely frustrating. It wasn't too hard for me, it just pissed me off too much. "Hey, in DS2 we need to stay hardcore, instead of 2 bell gargoyles lets just throw 1,000 at the player" I wish the developer would have been more inventive than just throwing more enemies at once at you. That was just one example. I also never had a "wow" moment. The bosses I fought up until I quit were all boring and uninspired. The only one that got me excited was the Dragonslayer and that is because it was Ornstein from DS1. anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread. I was just pleased to see another gamer who didn't care for DS2. Alot of my other "dark souls buddies" on different forums love DS2 and most think it is better than the first. |
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
Just started this up again and am so in love with the Hunting. Not much interest in doing Main Story Missions. Not that there bad or anything. I just have a lot more fun hunting animals. I was the same way with Red Dead.
Is there any way to turn off Mission alerts? It's gotten frustrating to get constant pop ups reminding me to do the Story missions  Also I really wish they could give you the option of driving in 3rd person. I can't drive for shit in first person mode  |

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
I just started playing this recently, and so far it's awesome. I do have a question though. Does anyone know if the online servers are still up and running? It keeps giving me an invalid code message every time I try redeeming it, and I bought the game new. So I don't know if I got a bum code or if it's even worth contacting Ubisoft over.
|
Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)
I believe Ubisoft got rid of all their online passes. You should be able to play mp without any code required.
