Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
May 30th can't get here soon enough for ol Nintendo.
Wasn't really feeling the trailer tho (but it undoubtably looks nice) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/631c1fz87I8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
The Nintendo Direct was heavily oriented around the 3DS, but there were a few Wii U updates:
- Little Mac from Punch Out! will be in Smash Bros. - NES Remix 2, drawing more from later NES games, on 4/25 - GBA games coming to Wii U VC starting in April - Mario Kart 8 coming May 30th (I think the Koopa Kids thing is a new reveal, right?) - A look at X battle gameplay! - A few retro-style indie titles on the eShop - Bayonetta 2 is fucking bonkers in the best possible way. Confirmed for this year. - New trailers for Smash Bros., Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, and Bayonetta 2. A really solid Direct (the first one I've watched live!), delivering most of what I wanted to see. I figured a big new reveal was a longshot, but NES Remix 2 is still pretty neat. Was hoping for something new to be excited about, but it's kept me excited about the stuff I was already excited about. :) |

Not bad. Might grab one.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
The embargo's ended for Tropical Freeze, so there are 198,000 reviews out there if you're interested. Reviews generally seem to be extremely positive, as you'd expect, or kind of middling. Most of the less enthusiastic reviews seem to be "it's another DKC sequel" and/or "Retro should be making another Metroid game instead". This'll be my first DKC game, so the sameness argument doesn't apply to me. :)

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
DKC was pretty awesome on initial release. I haven't really cared for it since though, it's a little too same-y. But they play well.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I agree with Rich, but the 3DS version was alright. But, I'm fine if I never play a mine cart or rocket level again.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I loved the first 3 DKC games on the SNES. Couldn't get through Returns though. Kong is just too big, slow and clunky.

That looks fun :)

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I'm kinda late, but a general question for the Wii E-shop: is there any way to download less than 1000 points at a time? There are often cases where I only need 100 or 200 points to download a VC or WiiWare title but I don't want to get stuck with a bunch of extra points...

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
How do you search for game DLC add-ons in the eshop - I know you can do it if you search a specific game, but is there as section of the shop that has all the add-on content listed?

It should be on the home page, halfway down the screen or near the bottom. Last time I checked, it had a pikmin image that you clicked.
I just checked, and right now it is a Just Dance 2014 button that you need to click. It says "add to your game" beneath it. |

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I have a question. I own a Wii and a 3ds XL. If I purchase and eshop game on the Wii U do I get access to it on my 3ds or do I have to buy it again. I pretty sure they make you buy it again but I'm not 100% sure.

As things stand now, you have to buy it again.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Nintendo Wii and DS internet multiplayer services will shut down worldwide May 20th BY RICHARD LAWLER @RJCC FEBRUARY 26TH, 2014 AT 11:45PM ET Link: http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/26/n...ideo-shutdown/ Nintendo Japan is putting internet-connected services for some of its older consoles out to pasture, although it's unknown if these plans could impact the US (Update: They will). The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection that served original Wii and DS units is scheduled to turn off internet multiplayer gaming and many other (but not all) services May 20th, while the free Video app that launched for the 3DS in 2011 will be unplugged at the end of March. Services that will keep working on the DS after May include the DSi Shop, DS Browser, and DSi Browser, while the Wii keeps Netflix, Hulu, Wii Shop Channel, Internet Channel, Pay & Play and YouTube. Newer Nintendo Network games that arrived around the 3DS and local multiplayer will also keep on chugging. If you have a long-distance score to settle in Mario Kart DS or Wii Speak conversation pending, we'd suggest trading friend codes (remember those?) now, while you still can. Update: Nintendo America has confirmed, the Wi-Fi Connection service shutdown May 20th is worldwide. |

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Wonder why they're doing this.
|
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Probably because they're hemorrhaging money and don't want to pay to keep up the servers.
|
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Plus it'll shift you to the new Smash Bros/Mario Kart/etc.
