Star Fox Adventures is terribly underrated. It may not have been the Star Fox game that most were expecting, but I really truly loved that game.

I see Mega Man X for $2, and part of me wants to get it, but then I remember that I have it on the SNES still.

Sounds like $2 down the tube to me. I have the GCN collection as well. I got it used though, but have yet to play any of it. I'll save my $2.

Man I really loved my gamecube. That and the Dreamcast will always have my fondness memories in my adult gaming history. I was 25 and 27 when each came out. Damn I'm getting old.

I was the only person out of everyone I knew that even had a GameCube. Still played the hell out of it, and I still do occasionally to this day. I was playing through Paper Mario 2 again a few weeks ago.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Dreamcast has one of the most eclectic game libraries of any modern polygon based consoles. It was like a console catering specifically to a Japanese and Arcade game crowd.

Bangai-O, Maken X, Space Channel 5, Ikaruga, Chu Chu Rocket, Shenmue, Samba De Amigo, Seaman, Soul Calibur, Power Stone, Berserk, etc; and it had Resident Evil Code Veronica, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Crazy Taxi, MDK2, etc; all within months of launch. As impressive as Sonic Adventure was at the time, Soulcalibur was the game that really introduced "next gen" in the era.

The thing sold 17.6m units in its life span, that just doesn't seem "kill it and lets get out of consoles" bad to me. But piracy really was very rampant on the thing so it's understandable.

Sweet. For WiiU we are looking at Donkey Kong and Mario Kart. Is there anything else we know?

Smash? Bayonetta 2 maybe?

There are a number of solid games to be released over the next quarter.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Smash is confirmed as not being a Spring release, although they could still tease something about it. Or, well, they could be misleading us about it not coming in the next few months. They haven't said anything a potential release date for Bayonetta 2 thus far. Ditto for X. I'm guessing those are all too far out to see much/any of.

Could be something about the retail release of Wii Fit U, maybe. I'd put money on at least one more Wii Sports Club minigame. Yarn Yoshi? Luigi's Mansion U? The rumored port of the first Bayonetta? Bet we do get a full trailer for Mario Kart, though, along with lots of stuff for Donkey Kong.

I'm not expecting much in the way of surprises.

Yeah. I'd say Kart and DK for sure. We will get an indie sizzle real and a Bayonetta 1 port. I don't think we will see Smash or X at all.

Mario Kart? Donkey Kong? Smash Bros? Wake me when they announce a game from a franchise they haven't already beaten to death in the past decade.

I'm constantly amazed at the number of properties that Nintendo has under their umbrella but decides against using them. It's insanity. Open up a few more studios, something, and pump more games out if the third party developers aren't going to join in.

I think the problem is that Nintendo looks as their sales and thinks, "_________ sold really well, so we should make more of those (and only those!)."

Miyamoto straight up said that F-Zero didn't do well on the GameCube, so no more F-Zero. Mario Kart has sold really well, so they're on their eighth installment. 2D Mario games sell well, so we get two (!) in the span of 3 months. We were supposed to get two Donkey Kong games in the span of 6 months, although the Wii U version wound up being pushed back.

They keep looking for a tiny number of surefire hits rather than a large, diverse library, and their cheaper-to-develop filler titles (Game & Wario; Wii Party U) have been lousier and lousier lately.

On the other hand, a lot of people say they want Nintendo to branch out, but when Nintendo releases Lego City Undercover and The Wonderful 101, no one buys 'em. I expect X and Bayonetta 2 to bomb too. I do think a lot of that has to do with marketing, though, and since Nintendo can't/won't market their games, their titles mostly just have their marquee value to rely on.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Ok so I went Wii U crazy. Ended up getting the Wii U deluxe with Mario and Luigi U a Pro Controller, refurbished Wiimote Plus and Nunchuck from Nintendo shop for $20. And....

Super Mario 3D World
Zelda Wind Waker HD
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
Lego Marvel Heroes
Sonic All Star Racing Transformed

That's 8 games and the most I've ever bought upon buying a new system.

Btw any chance of South Park Stick of Truth coming to the Wii U?

I would buy most of those games if I had a Wii U. If they were to release a Bayonetta 2 bundle, with the game on a disc, I might buy it. If they did that and dropped the price again, I would almost certainly buy it and get Windwaker and Lego City at the same time.

Outside of a clone on the Commodore 64, I've only played one Mario game (I think on the DS). So Mario isn't going to sell me a console.

I bought Lego City Undercover.

Would've bought The Wonderful 101 as well, but don't have the time to play it.

Oh, I bought it.

What I have played of it has been fun... and silly... but fun.

Lego City Undercover doesn't have local Co-op right?

I think I might be wrong about Lego City Undercover bombing, so forget I said that. Oops! It's reportedly low for a Lego game but pretty high by Wii U standards. The Wonderful 101 was certainly a pretty colossal flop, though.
