Happy fist birthday to the Wii U today!

I've had a ton of fun with it, more with the Wii U than any other system over the last year at least. I still haven't even picked up Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, or a number of other games yet either!

I figure I'll have a little gaming time over winter break, so I ordered the new Mario game.

Aaaand I canceled it. Decided to see if Redbox will get it.

Well, I'm a moron. I have had my Wii U an entire year to this day and I'm only just now realizing that it came with the charging cradle for the gamepad, and not just a stand for it. I just went out to the garage and sure enough there it was. My God.

Yeah, I love these cradles. I need to find a place in the house where I can set them all up together. I'm overcrowding the living room as it is, ha.

That "pitch" commercial just aired during WWE RAW.

Has anyone at Nintendo said why they wont just flat out introduce marketing where they make it explicit that the Wii U is a new console? They must surely have a reason for not doing so.

I was at Target the other night and a 18-20 something guy was with his grandma were discussing her buying a Wii/U gift for her other grandson. I casually stalked them to just listen to the "casual" take on the console. The guy was, naturally, more informed but even he was clueless. "Can you just buy this thing to use with the Wii we have?" and "Do these new games work on the Wii we have?" type stuff.

They really shot themselves in the foot with the WiiU name.

Yeah, I've heard that multiple times in stores as well. To make it worse half the time it seems like employes have no clue either. Even something as simple as Wii 2 would have technically been a better name for it than Wii U. It works for Playstation.

Agreed, Wii 2 would at least have made it clear that they had made a brand new console.

Ok, now they are airing the kids version of the commercial during RAW as well. Wow, Nintendo must have recent put a lot of money down to air these so much.

I've been seeing a lot more. Saw a few on Adult Swim and Comedy Central over the weekend.

Anyone playing Wii fit?

I actually just convinced my cousin and one of my friends to purchase Wii Us yesterday. They were getting a little nostalgic for Windwaker and now two more units sold.

Wow, that's a 15 spot jump or so just in the last few hours and after the 3D World reviews hit. Niiiiiiice...

I rarely buy games on release day...but I cannot wait to spend some cash this Friday!

I wonder if it's something where you play NES games but the sprites are swapped out, so maybe you'd have Mario in a Metroid game, Link boxing in Punch-Out, or something like that.

for those of you who have kids that play the Wii-U, how young are they? My kid turns 3 in January, which is too young I know, but he is a freaking wizard with the iPad and our android phones. I turned PC gamer last year so I won't be getting an X1 or PS4. However, I do figure I will get a Wii-U for him this gen at some point.

I have been recommending the Wii U to a lot of people, but especially to those with young kids. That isn't too young, trust me. I have cousins the same age who have a Wii U in their homes and they love them. There's nothing like playing Mario, co-op, with your kids or other kids. I can't wait to do so with my kids one day.

Didn't you hear? Nobody 4 and under should be anywhere near a videogame.

3 may be a little too young, but at least you'd have some games you could play with her.

Maybe we will think a little harder about it next Christmas. I certainly have been excited about the day I can actually play games with my child.

It's not the Zelda bundle, it's the regular black bundle. So basically you are only getting a $25 gift card extra. Still not a bad deal though.

Meijer will have the new bundle for $280 on BF and you'll also receive a $30 coupon for anything in the store on any visit between 12/1-12/24. So far the best deal out there that I've seen. I have a feeling the good bundles will be next year's holiday season for the WiiU, at least for what I'm willing to pay for it.

Dammit. I guess I'll buckle and pick up the Mario/Luigi U bundle on my way home tonight and then pick up 3D world when I'm getting Zelda tomorrow. Damn you all!
