Mass Effect Trilogy ~ PC and Xbox, November 6; PS3 version to follow

BioWare Delivers the Ultimate Value This Holiday Season With the Mass Effect Trilogy Compilation

Get all Three Critically-Acclaimed Mass Effect Games for One Low Price this Holiday and Join BioWare in Celebrating Commander Shepard on November 7th for “N7 Day”

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Winner of over 300 awards. Recipient of over 200 perfect scores. A universe that has expanded beyond games to comics, novels, apparel, collectibles, action figures and more. The Mass Effect franchise has become one of the most heralded series in video game history. BioWare, a division of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA), today unveiled the Mass Effect Trilogy, a compilation of all three award-winning Mass Effect games in one box. Available in stores beginning November 6, 2012 for only $59.99, the Mass Effect Trilogy is the perfect holiday gift for longtime fans or friends who have yet to experience Commander Shepard’s epic journey to save the galaxy.

Coinciding with the launch of Mass Effect Trilogy, BioWare will kick off the first annual “N7 Day,” a worldwide celebration of the Mass Effect franchise on November 7, 2012. Stay tuned to http://MassEffect.com for updates and announcements for a variety of in-game, online and live events which fans can congregate and fly their N7 colors.

The Mass Effect trilogy follows the rise of Commander Shepard from Alliance Marine to becoming the galaxy’s most elite soldier – the only soldier who can lead an all-out galactic war against an ancient alien race known as the Reapers. Heart-pounding action meets gripping interactive storytelling as players decide how their unique story unfolds over all three games. With a team of loyal soldiers at their side, each player decides how they will save the galaxy, from the weapons and abilities they utilize to the relationships they forge or break.

The Mass Effect Trilogy will be available on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and PC on November 6, and will be available at a later date for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Mass Effect, the game which started it all, will be available on PlayStation 3 for the first time through the Mass Effect Trilogy and digitally as a standalone title via the PlayStation Network. For more information about Mass Effect Trilogy, please visit the game’s official web site at http://MassEffect.com. As someone who hasn't played any of these, I may be in for this. Hopefully all the DLC will be included but I doubt it will be.

I have been considering picking up and starting ME2 on PS3 for some time. I am definitely tempted knowing that I would be able to start from the beginning.

Hmm, that is tempting, indeed. My brother bought me Mass Effect 2 but I haven't opened it, yet. I'll have to see what the price is for this trilogy edition and give it some thought.

I'm curious about how it will be packaged, whether it'll offer on-disc DLC, etc. Hopefully it's not just all the old discs in a new box.

Looks like they're pressing new discs, but they're probably the same content. Curious about what DLC will be available (downloadable), if any.

Glad that PS folks will be able to play the first game on their machines, whether it's in the collection or downloaded from the PSN.

I dig it, I'm probably in for it. The sexy box helps too.

"75 hours entertainment"

25 hrs per game? Sounds like it's just the base game and no dlc.

If this includes the dlc I wonder if it will show up on Steam since it doesn't have dlc through a separate store, I would probably buy it if that were the case.

School me on the DLC, please. If it's not included, what would I be "missing out" on?

Mass Effect
Two extra missions:
Bring Down the Sky - A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent. This mission is concurrent with the main storyline. (Free for PC, paid for 360)

Pinnacle Station - Mini-games. The events on Pinnacle Station take the form of mission styles such as Timed, Hunt, Capture, and Survival. Once the player has beaten the eight initial missions, they are rewarded with four extra missions. (Paid for PC & 360)

Mass Effect 2
New copies of the game came with the Cerberus Network access, which included free add-on missions Zaeed - Price of Revenge, Normandy Crash Site, and Firewalker.

Other promotional weapons and later mission dlc are all listed at Wikipedia.

PS3 version included 3 DLC missions (Kasumi - Stolen Memory; Overlord; Lair of the Shadow Broker).

Mass Effect 3
Promo DLC (weapons); ME3:CE included exclusive DLC items and the From Ashes mission.

From Ashes - Add-on mission. It includes an alternate outfit for each squadmate, a mission, a new squadmate, and a new weapon. (Paid)

ME3 Extended Cut - Expands on the game ending. (Free)

3-4 Multiplayer packs have been released. (Free)

The Firepack DLC - includes 7 weapons, the Indra and Krysae sniper rifles, Reegar Carbine, Harrier battle rifle, Geth SMG, plus an all-new Blood Pack Punisher SMG and Adas Anti-Synthetic rifle, that are available through the Single Player. (Paid - some of these items were released as promotional DLC).

Leviathan - Add-on mission. (Not yet released)

Omega - Add-on mission. (Not yet released)

They won't even release ME3 on Steam, so I seriously doubt this compilation would be there.

Origin, on the other hand, might have it. However, this seems to be more about the packaging than anything. I wonder if it would even be worth it in a digital form, considering that the first two games have been on sale for as little as $5.

http://masseffect.com/about/trilogy/

What DLC is included in the Mass Effect Trilogy?

On PC, Mass Effect will include Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station on disk. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included which features Zaeed – The Price of Revenge, The Firewalker Pack, Cerberus Assault Gear, Arc Projector heavy weapon, and Normandy Crash site mission. For Mass Effect 3, Online Pass will be included granting players access to co-op multiplayer.

On Xbox 360, Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station are not included with Mass Effect, however they are available as stand-alone downloads through Xbox LIVE. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included and Online Pass will be included for Mass Effect 3.

Will the original Mass Effect be available as a standalone game on PlayStation 3?

Yes, the original Mass Effect will be available as a standalone digital title through the PlayStation Network for $14.99. It will release the same day as the Mass Effect Trilogy on PlayStation 3.
Can't tell if the Mass Effect 1 DLC will be free based on the text, but it's essentially the vanilla editions of all three games + Cerberus Network for ME2.

Yeah, the only thing I like is that the first game on PC will get both DLC on disk. But, otherwise, not much of a set.

Some fans over at the Bioware forum had suggested that they remake the first two games using the ME3 engine and turning the trilogy into one massive game (without need to import between games). That might have been fun.
